Really helped out a lot. I got Factorio only 3 weeks ago and I didn't notice that there's more to crude oil than just petroleum so now I have almost a million petroleum stored so far away from my base😅 Love how you're straight forward with a simple format. Keep coming back with the great tutorials❤
Thank you for clearly explaining the logic behind oil cracking. That part always confused me, but now I feel confident enough to try it on my own without relying on recipes and blueprints by other people.
First time playing the game, I could not get why the oil refinery wasn't working, you have to cover all three outputs even if you're using just one, thanks for covering that!!!
Finally! Thank you! I've been looking for a beginner oil video. I wish the game had a built-in tutorial for it. I wanted to see about barrels, but it looks like you have a video for that. You did use a lot of shortcuts that I don't know about, but I'll learn eventually.
10:11 I'm not sure if this is intended behavior or factorio just won't fix it? that you have to fill the fluids in storage tanks in order to remove all of them which will force the refineries to create the three fluids again. I was losing my mind on this, I asked help in the forums and they were not helpful. This was so simple to understand and now I can keep going to make more electric engine units, thank you!
It's intended. The refineries output three different things in a weird ratio and if one output is blocked, the whole thing stops functioning. Balancing them is the hardest part.
Whoa there. 12:56 to 13:58. You missed a lot of stuff to show. You skipped over how to use a chemical plant. That comes before advanced oil processing. They have to learn how to make the chemical science pack first.
Petroleum is the used the heaviest in vanilla, with pumps signal wired up to heavy and light oil tanks you can convert heavy and light oil into petroleum so you never get backed up with heavy and light oil. If you're hording solid fuel you're doing it wrong.
For some reason my current factory is absolutely gobbling heavy oil and I can't figure it out. I have the usual cracking balancer and it doesn't make a difference. I'm not even going through lube yet, it's super weird. I'm getting annoyed enough that I think I'm going to mess with coal liquefaction
@@Hawk7886 the only usage for heavy oil is the lubricants. How can you use that much of it? I usually have the opposite situation where I keep converting heavy oil to light oil instead of flushing the tanks forever.
@@GhostStyle007 that's the thing, I don't get it at all. Normally I throw down the generic setup, run the cracking through a basic circuit that monitors a reserve tank and powers up a pump and it handles it from there. On this run the tank never fills up enough to toggle the damn thing. Light oil or petroleum backs up super fast, shutting down the refineries. I'm so annoyed that I'm tempted to rip up the whole thing and redo it.
This is, by far, one of the most useful and concise tutorials. Thank you! Edit: also, I've only had the game for a day, so the spider and robots were quite a flex lol
Great video. I have a question. When setting up the pump jacks what I normally do is connect the oil to a bunch of storage tanks then connect the storage tanks to refineries. I wonder if this is causing the slow down of stuff building in the refineries. I should do what you did and connect from pump jacks directly to refineries and see if that works better. Or connect one or two storage tanks for oil then connect that to refineries.
@@Bokusa Well that makes me feel better for skipping them also! They seem overly useless and complicated. I love your logistics strings as an alternative and will just be using that strategy from now on
Ugh! Factorio is so huge and complicated. You basically end up with an infrastructure so huge that you may as well start calling out for colonizers instead of trying to leave the planet.
Yeah it can be a lot. Its why im doing a little mini series on how to build a factory crok game start to finish. Check it out if youre interested and let me know if it helps :)
When I see someone doing a tutorial for beginners, yet has unholy shit already unlocked and on display, I immediately dislike and close the video. I DONT WANNA SPOIL ALL THE LATE GAME STUFF. Im just here to learn about a specific topic!! Jesus
extremely useful, Ive had the game for a year or two and this is honestly the most friendly tutorial Ive found
Im really happy this helped you out :)

Im glad you found my tutorial helpful :) i try to be tp the point and showcase a few examples and im glad that seems to be working well for everyone.
I love completely fucking up like that
Just got the game a week ago. Most straightforward oil processing tutorial I could find. Good job👍🏾.
Thank you for clearly explaining the logic behind oil cracking. That part always confused me, but now I feel confident enough to try it on my own without relying on recipes and blueprints by other people.
thats wonderfl news :) I'm glad you move away from blueprints and experiment and play around on your own! Best of luck
The best piece of advice I ever got for fluids was, just connect the outputs to the inputs. Changed how I’ve thought about fluids since then.
It really do be that simple sometimes.

I love hearing that the video helps people :) ill be uploading some more semi soon. Just been a bit occupied. Love seeing all the new subs and viewers
This is the best tutorial ive seen explaining oil, really helped me out. Thank you!
This oil tutorial has been popping off recently and Im really glad its been helping you guys out :)

Great tutorial, lots of good information, nice flow to your explanation. Cheers,

Heck yeah! Welcome to the factorio community
Best tutorial about oil processing on TH-cam ever👍😁

I use the solid fuel personally in large quantities, but i just dont cover that in this video as its not relevant to the subject matter.
Wood/Coal is an early game fuel that should be replaced by solid fuel right after discovering oil. Its more efficient and is consumed slower

This should be required viewing for every new Factorio player
I'd certainly appreciate the view count...
Great tutorial. I revisit the game every now and then, and oil is always a bitch to figure out. This is invaluable.
If you hate getting stuck on stuff install squeak trough mod.
It let's you walk trough the pipes.
I love this video and your primer on robots. Can you please do one on trains?
Ive thought about that but honestly i skipped over trains entirely.. ive barely learned to use them at all let alone effectively
@@Bokusa Well that makes me feel better for skipping them also! They seem overly useless and complicated. I love your logistics strings as an alternative and will just be using that strategy from now on
Yes i only use them for moving ores/plates to larger hubs but thats a rrcent development for me.
And thats mostly to reduce robot power usage. I have a big area that takes ores, makes plates, then ships them to the main crafting area
what a great tutorial. thanks bro

Good teaching style!!

How do you turn your storage tanks? If I rotate them, nothing happens
The default shortcut is 'R' - they basically flip
Merci bien . Je debute sur factorio et je le trouve aussi plaisant que satisfactory. Les attaques donnent un rythme assez plaisant au jeu.
All i know is merci means thanks soooo youre welcome ^_^
just get squeak thru mod for pipes, dev didnt use their brain when they coded pipes
Thanks bro
Can you script your guides?
No
@@Bokusa shame.
thanks!
Good video
Thanks :D
Thanks
Yes! I genuinely am happy if this helps you guys :) love when it helps y'all learn
should start the tutorial before unlocking advance oil processing ....
you skiped a step
Prior to advanced oil processing theres only one recipe
which need blue tech, so basic oil processing ... @@Bokusa
but thanks for the other tips tho it will be usefull :)@@Bokusa
@@SpooN12344321it's a video on advanced oil
