    I'm originally from Oklahoma, it's not just AA that claim to have NA ancestry. There are even more European Americans that have been told they have some NA ancestor.

    Black and white Americans usually have the same story. Someone in their family said they have some Native American blood. I think they do that just so they can claim the land. However, most of the time the results prove them wrong. You can call it home, but the truth is you just live there. There is no attachment between them and that land. It's kind of sad. I have to admit that I enjoy it a little bit, everytime the results smack them with the truth.

  • @braemtes23
    @braemtes23 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just because Native American does not show up in an individual family member's DNA, doesn't mean the family doesn't have NA DNA, it simply means the 50% genes the individual inherited from each parent did not contain the gene.

  • @princessmyhand
    @princessmyhand 6 ปีที่แล้ว +35

    Your family did not lie. You probably do have a Native American ancestor. It's just that YOU did not inherit those genes. The genes for Africa and Europe were most prevalent and that is what you inherited. That is why siblings from the same parents look different sometimes. If you check the DNA one would find that they may have similar genes but different ethnicities they inherited. This is some of the reason why your brother had different information... Well that, and the fact he has a Y chromosome that you do not have and can never inherit the genes from the Y chromosome because you have two Xs. I'm happy that you have an idea of what your genetic makeup consists of. Thank you for sharing your results. Stay Blessed! 😄

    • @Sanaturale
      @Sanaturale  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    • @thomasolson1154
      @thomasolson1154 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can have a different ethnic DNA than a sibling. Imagine each of your parents had a bag with 32 balls in it (one representing each great great great grandparent). YOU blindly reach in and grab 16 balls from each of your parents and put them in your own basket. Your parents refill their bags with the exact same mixture they had earlier and your brother does his blind pick...did the 2 of you get identical baskets? Probably not. Yes this is a very simplistic explanation but it covers the main idea, and you can't pass along a ball that isn't in your basket.

    • @Sanaturale
      @Sanaturale  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thomas Olson I like that explanation, thank you.

    • @astroprotector

      they trace the y chromosome and mtDNA. It would show up. And if is not reported it means there is no Native in her lineage.

    • @astroprotector
      @astroprotector 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      that person gave you misinformation. What you do not always inherit from your parents are the genes in the chromosomes. It is a lottery type inheritance. But the Y dna and mtDNA you inherit (y DNA for men and mtDNA for females)

    The experts say that siblings can have variations in their DNA. Maybe it has to do with the day of conception if the Irish DNA is stronger that day or some other DNA. Ect.

    We claim that Native American Ancestry for too long. If u have a Native American Great-Great-Grandparent, you might not inherit any of that DNA. It doesn't mean that your family lied. They are just super proud of having a non-Afrikan relative that didn't come from rape. We need to let that Native American thing go. If comes from not being proud of being Afrikan.

    Damn your percentages are very close to mine. If you are anything like me you are probably from a mixed race colonial Virginia ancestry that can trace your family ancestry backwards to 1700s or even 1600s. If you have any relatives test them they probably have Native American. A few people within my genetic family history has 1% NA which means at least one full blooded Indian person was in your family ancestry about 400 years ago which is exactly where you want it to be.

    if you are 4 generations out native American will not be present in a large percentage. My grandfather's great great grandmother was full bloodied native and his percentage is like 1-2% the gene pool gets diluted to undetectable, it depends on both parents make up, my fathers great grandmother was a native mix and his comes back 3-5% so its not that they lied just not enough of that DNA present.

    • @hailandplaice

      By the great great great great great grandparents, where on paper you have 128 ancestors (assuming no cousin marriages), you actually only have DNA from 120, it gets a smaller and smaller percentage as you up the generations after that. So past the 7th generation, you may have ancestors that you have no DNA from.There is a good video on this at family history fanatics which I'll post below

    its not weird to have different ethnic percentages and background as siblings who are full .you are not inheriting all 100 percent of your parents dna !! its a random 50 percent of each parent .So it can be in sibling as well one ethnic background will show and another does not . Hence why people also get parents and other family members testes . And this goes done for each generation the same . So your grandparents and great grandparents you wont have all their dna either

U don't have to accept what I said n vice versa, but we do trace back to Africa. ... no offence... Don't be so mean. That's part of the problem right there. That is unnecessary....... I'm Marsha.

    There's a historical reason why we say we got Indian in the family, a slave master would never admit to having a black child, Black men were killed for speaking to a white woman, interracial relationships were illegal, segregation was the law, so if a baby was born with mixed features it was considered Indian not White. One lasting element of this is when Black people would say you have "good hair" but go back even further in history and we use to say you have Indian hair.

    I hope my African origins are from a French speaking part like Cameroon or Senegal! I'm obsessed with French culture so I'm curious where this comes from. Wrightseducation admin taking into account those regions are proxies better characterized by "upper guinea" and lower guinea coastal regions of west africa,i assume you did myheritage? well all of these companies use a certain database and compare your dna to what ever they have and what you get could be a bulls eye or it could be that you come from neighboring groups ancestrydna breaks down myheritage's nigeria score into every country between ivorycoast and cameroon and it subsumes sierra leone under ivory coast/ghana mali and senegal and much of central african results cameroon/congo and south central hunter gatherer and africs southeast bantu is linked to kenya because many kenyans descend from bantu who originated in west central africa but traveled to the east via central africa. wright is a scottish surname or anglo-scottish if you do ancestry later and get iberian above trace region that could indicate some french since france is above the iberian peninsula

    A very good, informative video and I agree with the others, you are beautiful! Most Americans who think they have Native America ancestry find very little turns up in a DNA test. Also, most African American have more European than they expected, 25% and more is common. You can download your raw data file and upload for free to GEDmatch and MyHeritage.com and see if they may find that little bit of NA you expected!

      Now it is time to start contacting your interesting DNA matches and share information. Maybe even information about "missing" Native American ancestry! And possibly start building a Family Tree on Ancestry.com. You will be amazed what you learn but it is time consuming. For example if you do have NA ancestry but did not get that DNA, one of your DNA matches on that line may have it and can help you identify where it came from. Good luck! But NA is fleeting, many people with family lore of NA never find it. Elizabeth Warren can't find DNA to back up her claims! :D

      Saw the results now and I'm not surprised! It seems that a lot of Americans think they have some native-american blood, maybe people told that to themselves,within family, to give some legitimacy... but almost no american citizen of today do has native american blood!
      Your DNA profile is very typical of Afro-American. Your African origins (Benin/Togo...) are the countries where most slaves originated from and your European DNA is probably from some french. Also the Caucasian probably come from the french, the Armenian community is quite big in France!

    Obviously a lot of your white ancestry would come from coerced or at the very least heavily unequal relationships with white slave owners, but that was not always the case and there were equal loving relationships between whites and African Americans going back into the 19th century - take Prince for an example- his ancestor Edward Nelson was a white pastor who was in favour of equal rights & married a black lady.

    • @hailandplaice
      @hailandplaice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OK I checked up on my memory on this :). Although not black, it turns out Edward was himself the son of a white slave owner and a freed cherokee slave. Because of his marriage to a black woman he was denounced by his half-brothers, Nelson then left Louisiana and traveled through Arkansas and Louisiana as a minister for the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church.

You're just some bitter hater, hating on a pretty black girl. As far as wigs, the Ethiopians and modern Somalians are the descendants of the ancient Egyptians who wore wigs and braids 3000 years ago. I saw them myself, Afro wigs made of 3C to 4C human hair, in the Cairo Museum. Anyway there is nothing wrong with a natural girl wearing a wig as a protective style hater. We've been doing it for 4000 years stupido!

      @@quiestumeme1228 African Americans and Afro Latinos like me are descendants of West African tribes like the Fulani and the Yoruba and other tribes who migrated to Western Africa from the Nile Valley thousands of years ago because of climate change and invaders like the Hyksos coming into Egypt and Northern Sudan. Our DNA many times is E1b1a, the same haplogroup as Ramses III and King Tut. That is my DNA grouping, the same as many ancient Egyptian pharaohs. Many West African tribes from countries like Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, Ghana etc... are connected by blood and culture to groups like the Beja people of Eastern Africa. What you were told about your ancestry was not necessarily lies. Your recent parentage probably told you what they were told. Those stories were often passed on down the line. The person who fathered a mixed grandfather, for example, could have said he was half indian and was not. Perhaps he thought he was. Who knows? Perhaps an Indian acquaintance was mixed with European and did not know it. That Indian will pass that European DNA down the line and have people who did not inherit the Indian DNA saying they have Indian blood. I do not think that an ancestry DNA test is conclusive of who a person is related to.
    If my mother is 10% Native, and my DNA does not reflect any Native, does that mean that I am not related to a grandparent who passed it on or the person the Native DNA originally came from?
