LMAO! Putting the grass catcher on the rake was clever as hell. If things keep going like this, you guys will have one heck of a honey factory going! Have a great weekend, xoxo's Sandie😘
Love listening to you Colin, you are telling us so many interesting facts in such a way that we are learning without effort. Shaun your facial expressions are just amazing and you just make me laugh. The combination of the two of you is what makes your vlogs so unmissable. Thank you both.
We had bees on the farm when children One day a swarm formed It was fascinating to watch the bee keeper lay a white sheet from swarm to box, reach into the swarm and remove the Queen, put her into the box and the bees marched down the sheet in an orderly manner to join her 👍 well done 👏👏🌻
Well done, you pulled out all the stops for your bees, my hubby used to keep bees and says you did everything right, he suggests using a goose wing feather to.gently move bees onthe frame when searching for the queen! Might be worth a try! xx
Reminds me of when Mum and I watched with dismay Dad’s bees swarm over a high hedge at the end of our garden into some else’s garden. All we had was two mesh shopping bags to put over our heads and then we had to walk 1/2 a mile round to try and identify the garden they had gone to. Very unconvinced house owner when we turned up knocking on their door as you can imagine in suburbs of Southampton. Anyway they let us look and there they were and when Dad came home he got the swarm back. Luckily he didn’t have to drive to Inverness for a spare chamber like poor Shaun as he had loads at home. My weekend summer job was to hold the chambers tilted up while Dad cut out the queen cells. You brought back a lot of memories. Dad kept bees until he was 80. Thank you.
I have not watched the last 3 vlogs. So with anticipation I sat down to Watch 3 vlogs in a row... As a way to spend nearly an hour, it was an absolute treat! I even had time for an intermission and a glass of 🍷 Thank you both for your wonderfully entertaining and informative vlogs, I now can't remember life without them.. ❤️ 😊 Well back to the wine! Cheers 🥂
Fantastic, Colin. It's such a buzz (forgive the pun!) when something like that happens ... and even more so when you are successful dealing with it! I caught my first swarm nearly a year ago (during our last spring) It wasn't from my hive, it just flew in to the back yard. A large cardboard box sufficed as a temporary home for a few days until I could get a new hive. A beekeeper recently told me that this is the start of a slippery slope - now you know how to catch swarms, you'll be doubling your number of hives every year from swarms... 🙂
Only discovered your channel a few days ago and I absolutely love it, you guy’s are literally living my dream from living on a barge boat to living in a stunning countryside location to keeping bees and chickens, what a fantastic life you have, please stay blessed. (And how cute is Otis 🥰)
This was definitely one of the funnier episodes I've seen in a while. Congratulations on your successful retrieval and I can see that it did you well too. You were positively radiating confidence. Keep it up!
Hi guys, wow what an adventure! Glad Colin wasn't hurt so much falling. Glad to see that your improvised equipment worked. Love both the shirts, plaid and bees. Take care and stay home now you bees, Gloria 🐂
I love how you not only share your adventures but share all of this wonderful information! Even your narrowboat videos shared so much of the history of the canals and surrounding area. Thank you! You two warm my heart! Looking forward to possible Foxes Afloat honey?? :)
Aye, came here to say that. Glad to see it's the top comment. Good for Colin, that's a really stressful thing to happen so soon. And then be like knocking on the the homeowner's door to say "my bees on on your property, can I maybe fall off a ladder on your property to retrieve them? (I'm in the US, injuries are more litigious here. I had berry trees on my property and if you wanted to pick them it was a handpicked bucket or a tarp on the ground shaking the tree: no ladders) I really hope this isn't cherry-picked "instagram lifestyle" moments because I truly hope that Colin has been able to relax into land-life without becoming a bundle of nerves. Bees and Chickens are such wonderful backyard friends. Also calming and distracting.
That’s a lot of excitement for a newbieeeeeeee! Absolutely a great vlog; so glad all worked out and you didn’t break any bones. Blessings and enjoy your week
Thank you for going into detail about the swarm. I've been thinking about keeping bees but I have a disability and won't be able to climb trees to rescue swarms. I'll have to think about a workaround for that scenario.
You sir, are fearless! And innovative too! A grass catcher for bees...... brilliant!! Plus I learned some more stuff. Glad you didn't get hurt falling off the ladder.
I was out in our garden a couple of years ago and started to hear this loud buzzing noise in the distance. It got louder and louder then I watched as a huge swarm flew by. I was a wee bit frightened in case they decided to descend on to me, but all was well. They disappeared into the distance. Amazing sight.
Yes, you're doing it right! Normally, catching a swarm is pretty easy, but it really is a matter of being in the right place at the right time--and you can't plan that!
Good on you! Your bees are doing so well to split colonies already. I see the honey bees in our yards and smile thinking of you and your adventures. ❤️ to 🏴
You are so right! You never know what you can do until you have to do it!! Great job getting the entire swarm in again. Crossing fingers they stay a bit longer this time!
Ahh life is full of surprises just like this one. Massive banks if swarming bees are amazing. Always fascinated me just how quickly the bees get inside the hive.
These bees are making you so much happier Colin ! I hope they are having a relaxing (?), effect on you ! You looked really excited in your new role as estate beekeeper ! Stay safe, both of you ! Stu xx
How wonderfully creative you both are. There is a wee bit of the Kiwi attitude of 'fix anything with number 8 fencing wire' about you both. When you had the second makeshift lawnmower bee catcher, I noticed the two hens regarding you with interest. I could almost hear them thinking, 'what the heck is he up to now?'. Love you both
At last we have caught up with you. After watching the Amazon Prime series we worked our way through the vlogs from the beginning, NOT looking ahead except the thumbnails gave away your move to land. Loved watching your journey, you feel like old friends and we have so enjoyed it all. Exceptional photography and documentary skills Colin and we know how patient Shaun must be to help you with that side of things. Team effort all round. We have just celebrated our golden wedding anniversary and can see with you as with us a good sense of humour is essential for longevity in a partnership. Mel, my husband is very patient with me, I’m a nightmare like you know who. Seriously, thank you for all the entertainment. ❤️
When I married we kept bees for a while. Said to ourselves we would only have a couple of hives. Well 12 hives later we ended up getting divorced, not the bees fault and we ended up giving them to a friend. Spent lots of money had lots of kit and got wonderful honey which we used to sell. We never made a profit so you could say we got stung!!!
Bravo Guys! Another great episode (always makes my Friday afternoon)! Fascinating hearing and learning about the bees, swarming, your 'rescue' - great job! Hope the new hive takes. It's something my partner has always wanted to do. Keep up the great work. PS... the heather looks amazing.
That was really informative. Two classics in this one. The unconscious finger pointing. I didn't spot it. It was mentioned, so went back. So funny. The other was. Colin falls. Shaun: " What happened? " Collin: " I fell." ( I'm guessing messing around with bees and your new direction is more agreeable than muddy towpaths and doing locks, trudging to the shops, etc.)
Thank you; I don’t know what you’d planned but this was surely a very interesting substitute! I’m glad you didn’t hurt yourself, falling off the ladder.
A joke from a former beekeeper to a current one: Once there was a hive of bees who swarmed and while they were on the road going to their new colony site they stopped and used the facilities at a "BP" station. However, there was one bee who refused and went next door and used the facilities at the ESSO station, thus proving that there is at least one ESSO bee in every crowd!
Wow, what a great educational vlog today. Yes, learning as you go and you’re doing a super job, Colin. Enjoy your weekend and the wonderful “heather on the hill” ❤❤
Hi, Colin and Shaun! Really enjoyed your Bee Adventures, and am glad you survived your fall, Colin. As someone already said, being parents means you learn how high or far you need to jump, and you did well in adapting so quickly. Well done, guys!
Well done, so proud of you I am glad you didn't have a bad reaction to he sting, very innovative way of getting the bees down. I do hope her majesty the bee queen is in the swarm.
Well done on getting your bees back...happy you didn't break anything when you fell. Have a good weekend Colin and Shaun and Otis and last but least Maud and her chicken buddies. 🐝🐝🐝
Not sure if maybe some of the bees might have to go on holiday. Otherwise the ones that came from the same hive may steal from each other. Also in a swarm chasers kit should be some branch loppers and a saw. Then you can chop the branch off with the bees on and catch it in a box. I'm only a bee helper, not an expert but I've done a little swarm chasing!
LMAO! Putting the grass catcher on the rake was clever as hell. If things keep going like this, you guys will have one heck of a honey factory going!
Have a great weekend,
xoxo's Sandie😘

Well done! You were very quick thinking to get the swarm before they buggered off.👍🏼🥰🙋🏼♀️
Thank you! 😊
Almost every beekeeper gets surprised at sometime. Well done on getting them back.
Loved seeing Colin's enthusiasm for learning new things - he was buzzing!
Well done, you pulled out all the stops for your bees, my hubby used to keep bees and says you did everything right, he suggests using a goose wing feather to.gently move bees onthe frame when searching for the queen! Might be worth a try! xx
Congratulations on the quick response as a newbie beekeeper. The bees have determined to make you an expert in a few months.
I think so too!
Off his tree? Nah Colin up a tree then down a tree….what buzz that was 🐝

Always learn something new with you two. 💕
What comes across in your vlogs is just how much you pair care about each other. You seem a perfect match.
Thank you, Craig 👍❤️
It’s BEEn a real pleasure tonight…..you are real goers, both of you. What an adventure.
So, does that make you a newbee keeper?
🤣
Colin looking dashing in his buttoned shirt. Congrats on managing the bees back to a box. 👍🏻
What an ordeal, but you really showed ingenuity and got the job done!
I have not watched the last 3 vlogs. So with anticipation I sat down to Watch 3 vlogs in a row...

Well back to the wine!
Cheers 🥂
That lawnmower box tied to a rake is hilariously genius😂
You’re never to old to experience and learn new things.
You did well on getting the bees back, using the grass box from the mower that was clever Colin.
As much as I enjoyed (and miss) your narrowboat adventures, this chapter is quite a fun adventure👍👍
I think you did a fantastic job getting your bees back into a new hive, totally ingenious and heath-robinson was the lawn mower box on a rake!
Fantastic, Colin. It's such a buzz (forgive the pun!) when something like that happens ... and even more so when you are successful dealing with it! Always expect the unexpected!! You certainly got a buzz on there Colin & saved the day. 😁🐝👍
Bravo! My grandfather would be so proud of you! My father hated capturing swarms.
Never a dull moment with you two wonderful fellas.
Only discovered your channel a few days ago and I absolutely love it, you guy’s are literally living my dream from living on a barge boat to living in a stunning countryside location to keeping bees and chickens, what a fantastic life you have, please stay blessed. (And how cute is Otis 🥰)
Thank you 🙏 welcome to the madness. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My grandparents used to keep bees. I remember when I was about 5 their bees swarmed. It was fascinating to watch. X
This was definitely one of the funnier episodes I've seen in a while.
Congratulations on your successful retrieval and I can see that it did you well too. You were positively radiating confidence. Keep it up!
You guys are great! Just be careful. You and your Bees! 😃
Very entertaining hope it all works out, you’re a real trooper getting the bees back!
The little old lady from Myrtle Beach loved this vlog....🤗🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝❤️
That was fantastic thanks. So pleased you caught the fall. Thanks for the share, loved it. Please stay safe and take care
A great bee info vlog and you have all that lovely heather full of food for the hives
You have certainly earned the right to have bee merch. Great design.
Glad you think so!
I love watching the bee keeping episodes😍
Hi guys, wow what an adventure! Glad Colin wasn't hurt so much falling. Glad to see that your improvised equipment worked. Love both the shirts, plaid and bees. Take care and stay home now you bees, Gloria 🐂
Thank you xx
Thanks guys for a fantastic stinging vlog but very interesting, I'm learning more each video. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Another great video. Very impressed Colin the way you got the bees into the new hive. 👍
You truly have a talent for thinking outside the box! Well done 😉
What an amazing experience - fast learning curve. Thank you for sharing glad you were not hurt falling - from Brisbane Australia.
The two honey’s, I love it from A to Z
Thanks Guys! Wow, who knew bees were such hard work! "Always expect the unexpected" - true words to live by! Bee safe guys! ❤🐕❤

Fascinating vlog lads. Everything you said was a revelation. Thanks for sharing.

So glad you are alright! That short was scary😬. Your focus on learning new things and preparedness is helpful.
So clever of you Colin! You are quite the Bee Daddy, lovely. Your enthusiasm for the Bees is palpable 🥰
I love how you not only share your adventures but share all of this wonderful information! Even your narrowboat videos shared so much of the history of the canals and surrounding area. Thank you! You two warm my heart! Looking forward to possible Foxes Afloat honey?? :)
Loved the episode. I have fingers and toes crossed that they will stay with you. I can’t imagine anyone wanting leave you guys.

Thanks for video. Glad you never got hurt when you fell. Hope queenie is in the hive.Take care and God bless.
I hope so too
Well done you Colin! And Shaun for the desperate drive to get a new hive and then preparing the bed for it.

What a really interesting vlog! So glad you managed to capture the swarm. Love your outtakes ❤️

Wow a genuine bee rescue! Amazing.
Thank you, Margaret xxxx
Wow this was so educational and glad you didn’t get hurt when you jumped off the ladder! You acted so quickly that you saved the day!
Yes, you're doing it right! Normally, catching a swarm is pretty easy, but it really is a matter of being in the right place at the right time--and you can't plan that!
This was really good, enjoyed every second of it !
I'm so glad you was NOT hurt taking that nose dive off the ladder. BE SAFE !!!
Good on you! Your bees are doing so well to split colonies already. I see the honey bees in our yards and smile thinking of you and your adventures. ❤️ to 🏴
