Keeping cool whip cold in frig until needed helps it set up better! Also put crust in freezer and then fill with filling. It keeps crust from soaking up juices and helps set up.

My granny never used Cool Whip. Only cream cheese and sour cream. Like your recipe, she also used the chunks of pineapple with the crushed. There's isn't much one can do to "mess" this up. It's sooooo good!

Next time you make this, try toasting your pecans. You can do that on the stovetop in a dry skillet. Just keep stirring until they’re fragrant and have turned a little darker. It will make a huge and delicious addition to this yummy pie!

This pie is so good. I prefer the nuts I use to be chopped up pretty small, though. Also, if you want your pie to be a little more set up than hers was, you can add a little vanilla pudding mix (dry, of course) to it and it will be nice and firm. I do not mind if my pie turns pink...looks so pretty! I make a frosting similar to this that I put on a vanilla cake in the summer, and I use mandarin oranges instead of the cherries. But, use the juice from the fruits and add a whole pkg. of the dry instant pudding mix. It IS TO DIE FOR!! Keep the whole cake in the fridge!

Now that is a decadent delicious pie ! My family and I used to pick cherries years ago ! The beautiful red cherries are called “ pie cherries “ and when they still “on the tree 🌳 “ they are so beautiful they seem to glow ! They are sooooo TART ! I really didn’t like picking them ,I just loved looking at how beautiful they were! Yes they are sour so it takes a lot of sweet ingredients to sweeten them up ! That pie looks soooo good I think I put on 20 pounds just looking at it ! Thank you for sharing this masterpiece. Pie ! Yummmmmy

Pineapple juice is also good for you if you have a coughing spell. I couldn't believe how fast my coughing stopped. Doesn't mean the cough will completely go away, but it can give you some relief. Take a nice drink of some anytime your cough flares back up. You can't do that with cough syrup.

I like to add some jarred cherry liquid to ginger ale to drink. Tasty. This was one of the first things I ever learned how to make back when high schools had home economics. The pie I made and still make is called strawberry millionaire pie. It has cool whip, frozen strawberries, shredded coconut, lemon juice, condensed milk and pecans in a graham cracker crust. Basically same except strawberries in place of pineapple.Brings back sweet memories.

I wanted to refresh my memory of this recipe and looked at several videos today. Yours is the best presentation I've seen. I've not seen cream cheese added before... yum. I like to put in some coconut myself. You're also pleasing to listen to and watch. Oh, and I love that green bowl. I have a thing for pretty mixing bowls. That came from my childhood watching mama making delicious things in a particular one. She was about to throw it away! I said "Oh no you're not!" She got a chuckle from that. It's mine now, chips, cracks and all. And the best part, the memories. :)
