- After my recent plant declutter, I decided to chop and restart six plants! 🌿 Some of these were struggling with fading variegation, others needed a fresh start, and some I simply wanted to propagate and move on from. In this video, I take you through my chopping process, propagation tips, and how I seal cuttings to prevent rot.
✨ Plants Chopped & Restarted:
🌱 Syngonium Chiapense Albo - Trying to revive variegation
🌱 Syngonium Albo - Restarting to see if I like it better
🌱 Philodendron Florida Ghost - Propagating for a fresh start
🌱 Variegated Snow Capped Begonia - Encouraging new growth
🌱 Monstera Mint (NoID) - Experimenting with propagation
🌱 Philodendron Strawberry Shake - Chopping to move on
🌿 Propagation Methods Used:
✔️ Fluval Stratum - For strong root growth
✔️ Perlite - Great for aeration & preventing rot
✔️ Water - Classic method for easy rooting

The perlite will help hold those long stems from falling out of the jar.

I think the ghostiness of the florida ghost leaves may be related to the amount of light it's getting. For mine, I had it in super high light and all the leaves were crazy white and never faded down to green (they unfortunately would eventually brown and drop), so i moved it to low light and my leaves just came out green like yours. I think I've finally found a happy medium and leaves come out light and fade down to a minty color. It's been hard to dial in the right light for this one.
Perfect timing! Just chopped my PPP and Montera Albo that was throwing out ALLwhite leaves
Eeeek! When albos do that it gets scary. Hopefully you have brand new gorgeous variegated plants soon!

I cut up my pink princess this morning. Going to root all the cuttings. It had more nodes than I thought. They were close together but it wasn't growing like I want it to. I moved my broccoli seedlings and tomato seedlings into pots too. Can't wait for those 😊

I’ve. Or had much luck with stratum. And I so wanted it to work for me. I’m not very good with unrooted cuttings.

When I chop plants I cover the wound with cinnamon…I have no idea about the science behind it, I just do what my grandmother does because her plants are all stunning!!
I use cinnamon as well,seems to work.

If you seal the ends, how does it take up water and nutrients?
That was my exact thought…I’m so interested in the update of these cuttings. I usually root in soil with a bit of rooting hormone or in a dark vessel (like a beer bottle) with plain old water lol
So the plant intakes water/nutrients from the node not the wound/stem 😊 I don’t do this on all my plants just the more special ones I’m worried about
@@tiffanyi5645water is my preferred method of propagating but I’ve found more success on certain plants in other mediums so I change it up depending
I see you don’t sterilize your cutter after using it after chopping
You're supposed to blow the candle out before using the wax 😂
