Efteling is known for their excellent theming. Python is a sad exception. But, at it's opening in 1981 it was the longest, biggest and fastest rollercoaster in mainland Europe.
Yeah, I think we just took a route that went through the parts with the least theming at the start of the day. However, as the day went on, we discovered what the park was really like and fell in love with it.
i think python being an exception is also because, i think ton van de ven (the original designer of the efteling) hated the idea of having a rollercoaster in the park (the park then mostly consisted of the forrest), this is also the reason that python is on the completely opposite side of the efteling compared to the fairytale forest
@@TheFirstDrop1 yes when I was watching the video and you started with 'going right' I was like oh no they're going to miss the magic. Python is just zero theming, but then a lot of other rides especially the dark rides are themed really well.
Nice vlog. Efteling was built before Disney parks and many other themeparks in Europe existed a long time ago. What not many people know Efteling started out as main football field with 2 practice football fields and a playground. After that they built the fairytale park. This history is on the Dutch version of the Efteling website. After they built the fairytale park people from all over the country started coming. Later they added more rides and rollercoasters. Efteling is built in a nature reserve and is not owned by a big company like Disney but by a foundation. That is why prices of food, entry and stay in hotel are much lower than Disney. Efteling doesnt sugarcoat the famous fairytales by the Grimm brothers like Disney does. Because Efteling is one of the oldest themeparks in Europe as said built before Disney parks even existed a lot of themeparks in Europe who were built later took inspiration from The Efteling. Disney imagineers asked Efteling for help what people in Europe would like to see in Disneyland Paris with theming and building of Disneyland Paris. I know one Efteling Imagineer was asked to work for Disneyworld in the US which he does now. Efteling won the price of best themed themepark in Europe. Even the money ATM and waste bins are themed in Efteling. Efteling is said to be the third best themepark in Europe after Europapark and Phantasialand who also took inspiration from Efteling being one of the of the oldest themeparks in Europe. Mr Disney has been to The Netherlands there is a video of it but no one really knows if he went to Efteling. Efteling had the first ever Madhouse that was ever built in the world called Villa Volta. They have been building a new hotel that will be themed and also been building one of the most expensive haunted mansions in the world called Danse Macabre. Danse Macabre which is themed as a run down monastery cost 35 million euros. The waiting line will be in the cemetery and people will sit on floating church benches in Danse Macabre for a horrific experience . It will probably not be suited for really small children. Haunted mansion Danse Macabre opens at Halloween for the first time. Efteling fans cant wait when it opens. We have one guy here who goes to Efteling 165 days a year so crazy is he about Efteling. He started making daily News items about changes in the park for all the Efteling fans. We have more themeparks in The Netherlands but for most Dutch people Efteling has a special place in their heart. This is because most children went to Efteling with their parents, grandparents or on a school trip. They could built lots of rollercoasters to attract more thrillride seekers to Efteling but they wont. The foundation that runs Efteling is focused on theming and keeping the park authentic as it started out.
Great insight, thank you! The park wasnt what we expected (I'm not sure what I was expecting to be honest), however, over the course of the 2 days we were there, we fell in love with the place and will definitely be returning
You’re welcome, thank you for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed it. Day 2 will be up on Sunday. I have a question as it’s confused me when I have seen it. Do the Dutch call Efteling ‘The Efteling’? When I have seen it I have always wondered why and seems you phrased it that way I thought I would ask, I hope you don’t mind
Take the long boatride during lunch, you wont have to sit in the restaurant where you sit a half a hour but instad of that you take tha atractioen. BTW very nice vlog.
Efteling can not just build whatever they want. they have to keep like 80% of the nature. The coasters are not as wild but the park is made for all ages and meant to be a magic like theme. You should also give Toverland a visit if you like theming. Or Walibi if you like wilder rides. Also.. A Syrup stroopwwafel is like saying a syrup syrup waffel xD
Thanks or your comment. We realised after being there a long time that this park was different, and we fell in love with the place, I think at first, it wasn’t what we were expecting with it being so different to other parks, but we really grew to adore it. We speak about this at the end of the video, but you will see more of it in our day 2 video when it goes up. We haven’t been to Toverland, but we do go to Walibi, it was a great amusement park, untamed was the draw for sure. I don’t know the language at all, though that is funny. Similar to when we say Naan Bread in England, we are essentially saying Bread Bread haha
Your vieuws are growing with efteling much people know this. Thats why many people make TH-cam video's in efteling. But i like the video hope to see part 2 soon. Not weeks 😂 that thing about the python Is from 1981 with some records. There was even a car on it in the past for some stunts. In 2018 python got a upgrade renovated 2018: CSM
Thanks for the comment. We have been blown away by how many views we have had on this video, it was unexpected for sure. Next video will be up on Sunday, still got some editing to do on it. I had heard Python got retracked after I got back, made sense as to why is was so smooth with the modern vest restraints too
Something I always say when people visit Python, de Lifthill is not that slow they have only done it because of the amount of trains they can dispatch and they have more time to dispatch the second train, if the coaster is operating with 1 train the lifthill is much faster😅
Ah! I never knew that. It actually makes sense in terms of throughput and stopping people queuing on the brake run. Thanks for the comment, I’m sure others will find this useful too
@@TheFirstDrop1 With the Covid 19 you actually needed to wait 5 minutes on the brakes, it was a Hell😅 Also when the other train is still in the stations the brakes are very hard and can be painfull for some people
I can imagine! I had no idea, we went into Efteling blind not knowing much about it other than a couple of snippets on TH-cam, so this kind of insight is great. Thank you
Thank you! We did! However, I recently discovered we missed the dark ride 'Carnival Festival', which we are gutted about, we will get on it when we return I'm sure
Try learn history. Phyton is one of the oldest ones left in europe steel looping one. Its there sinds 1981. Lift hill is slow to use 2 trains. Days with 1 train its faster

don't forget to check out the madhouse "villa volta", my all time favo
We rode that the next day, one of the better madhouses we have been on for sure

I’m like Rachel, that fairytale always makes me cry, so sad!
Thanks for the comment. I was so emotional, I couldn’t stop crying, I remember reading it as a child and it all came back to me 🥹

Thanks for your comment. A previous commenter explained this, it was good insight
your theming comments at the beginning didn't age well 😂 😂
@@babyd4000 fair, though in our defence, the theming at that part of the park was lacking lol. We basically went to the wrong part first
