  • Join Alex 'Assassinato' Fitzgerald as he teaches you exactly how to exploit players at the poker table by varying your bet size.
    Remember these two key points in low stakes poker games:
    - 90% of your opponents will have no idea who you are!
    - They are generally playing their hand and not getting too calibrated
    Against players like this you can manipulate them with some basic bet changes!
    Many students ask me about staying balanced. Remember that balancing is important when you're playing against higher level opponents. It is also important when you play the same people every day. In some higher buyins of some tournaments you will need to balance more frequently.
    Alex gives you a very important thought that you should consider when deciding to continuation bet on the flop - you should be extremely specific with what you are thinking so that you do not get overwhelmed by so many variables.
    He also talks you through some simple calculations to help you figure out how often a specific bet size needs to work in order for it to be profitable. Alex runs you through an example and how using different bet sizes can help you range your opponent. The larger you bet, the tighter the range that they should continue with. Equally, the smaller you bet, they will continue with a wider range of hands.
    A fairly unused strategy is the overbet flop sizing that Alex talks about and why it is still so beneficial to use it against specific opponents.

    In order to take your poker game to the next level it is vitally important you learn all the nuances of the game.
    Do you know what ranges of poker hands you should be playing from each position? When should you 3-bet, call or fold? When is the right time to make a hero call or a huge bluff? Do you know how to play preflop, flop, turn & river effectively and how should your poker strategy change depending on the street? What difference does it make if you are playing multi-way vs heads-up?

      I don't play a lot of live tournaments so when I do, and sit with decent players, I try to get a showdown on a very tiny pot with a bad play or just show that i'm multiple deviations of what I should play. After that I can exploit them while they think they're exploiting me thinking i'm a complete moron

    I used to make videos about PVP in a video game, and one of my core improvement tips was to focus on improving one thing at a time. Don't try to take 10 things at once and improve them because you won't give them their due attention.
    Focus on one thing at a time, improve it and incorporate it into your game, and THEN move on to item #2.
    Great tips!

    Would you advice to use those betting strategies with Range? (Playing microstakes)
    Or would you rather advice to only Rangebet the smallsizes and then go big on the boards you advice to bet big on with only Draws and your best hands?
    And how do you understand 3 cards 9 or below without straight draws? even 952 has gutshots. Did you mean something like "without connected cards" like 982 or 762?

    I’ve read Alex’s books and this concept has been very beneficial for me. However, lately I feel I have been running into tables with maniacs at the 1-3 and 2-5 tables. So I adjust and sit back and wait for better hands but if there a way to go about this without all of sudden looking like a nit?

    • @Foolish188
      @Foolish188 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Against Manics, you want to play lots of hands, don't Nit it up, especially if you are in position to them. Target them.

    • @jc7883

      @@Foolish188 but should you adjust your bet sizing due to the fact you know they will call you no matter what or still go with the same theory Alex was discussing?

      @Foolish188 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jc7883 With a true Maniac, and a hand, after the flop, that I will willingly (against a Maniac) put in my stack. If I act first, I bet pot on the flop and then check the turn, expecting a pot bet or a shove in response. If I don't act first then I check call flop, and check shove turn.

    Half pot will get a lot of my tournament opponents to fold but not the cash game players I face, even when they are the same people.

    Where is the consistancy in coaching?
    I don't think Matt Affleck would approve of the summary section. This coach says flush and straight boards are great to get money in the pot and to double barrel. Matt says to check or use smaller bet sizes if you do bet because of the "small game/big game" implications. Building huge pots only narrows the opponents range to guarantee he has all the flushes and straights...and no air.

    I think this isn't good content. Yeah on 843 rb bb has to underdefend. And probably against all bet sizes. Doesn't really matter what we do.
    It would be helpful to compare the different lines and their ev.
    Or do I miss something

  • @mttdatabasereview

    So a COACH analysing SINGLE hand in 25min video completely misses the fact that 843 is a flop where overbet cbet is preferred on the flop, (and explaining why would be very useful for students to understand) but wastes time talking about Navy Seals for several minutes? I feel bad for people who pay money for content like this.
