That fact that you were driving 240kph (145mph) before slowing down and though you were driving 80 - 100 mph tells me this car must be riding very smooth.
You are so lucky, to be able to have the opportunity to sit in one of these cars. It would be a dream just to be a passenger in one of these. That cream interior is amazing! the gauges everything is so perfect inside the cockpit, surely this is the most beautiful car ever made? The gt40 doesn't even come close for me. Lucky man you are!
DUDE. Put on a nice outfit and go take one for a test drive!!! At a dealer or someone selling one. When I was younger I used to try every exotic car out there. I even took them for a day!! Come on and go drive one.
Jacques Malan I never knew of this car until I saw on the street and almost shit myself. Such a mean and aggressive rumble. The tires are so freaking wide.
I Guess We Fall Into That Old Expression, "Different Strokes" As I'd Give Anything To Sit In A GT-40 Or Just See One For That Matter & The Pantera Doesn't Even Come Close For Me . . .
How fast we going ? About 80 I think, looks at speedo, well its says 190 but thats in kilometers, (160 kph is 100 mph so they were pushing 110-120 mph and couldnt tell) nice riding car
I love how you've shown the shifting(partially). Now you know what the NHL Hockey player Tim Horton saw before his death. He had a '72 and he was doing over 100mph. He died about 10 minutes away from my house in 1974.
This Pantera seemed to enjoy running hot! That was a tall temp, I agree, something they are known for. A lot of the Pantera De Tomasos have updated cooling systems to help alleviate this.
That’s not a 1973. It is a 1983. Maserati seats, wood grain dash, gauges, leather interior, wing, flares and KPH speedometer. 225 of these were grey market cars imported to the USA in the mid 80s. If they showed the engine bay the wheel wells would be squared off and not rounded like the 70s cars. It is a DeTomaso Pantera GT5. I own Panteras and have since 1990. What I am writing is correct.
Ford Windsor 427 crate motor instead of Chevy please! Modern Coyote at least still Ford.Out here in the colonies with not a lot of choice I opted to go 'ole school' as close to factory GRP4 spec as possible. So I struck with the original 351C with the 4V closed-chamber (62cc) big-port/valve heads, IR Hall Pantera intake manifold with 4x Weber 48IDA's. Plumbed in 8x direct-port injectors on feul-rail controlled by computer up front and air fed by the Weber butterflys. Nice.
The look of the Pantera is just f'ing cool. So exotic. Won't be seeing many of those on the road, turns heads for sure. I appreciate what you do here. But some friendly advice to bring these vids to the next level, take a videography course. It will really help improve the look and ease to watch these vids. Cheers.
This guy is supposed to be a professional appraiser? There is much he doesn't know much about Panteras ! This cars interior is all custom, the 73 Pantera came with vinyl and no wood, the body has undergone a GT5s conversion. Although the 351 cleveland in this car sounds okay it doesn't sound ANYTHING like a Ferrari which gets it's distinct sound from a flat crank. You can get a Pantera to sound more like a ferrari with 180 degree "bundle of snakes" headers. When I bought my Pantera the seller used a proffesional appraiser who made the same kinds of errors (like saying it was made of fiberglas) (They guy who appraised my car said it was Fiberglas not this appraiser , and he was hired by the seller) You need to take what many of these guys say with a grain of salt. If you want an evaluation of a Pantera contact POCA (Pantera owners club of America) the members will generally be happy to help do an evaluation of a Pantera for no charge. We have members all over the country (and the world). If you want to hire an appraiser for anything car , boat, house , artwork, jewels, you want one who knows more about the subject then you! Gemologists have GIA certification, home appraisers have certification, art experts have credentials. You can print business cards and start appraising cars today! Make sure anyone you hire to appraise a car has some sort of credentials!
Boyd- Thanks for your insightful comments. The GT5 conversion is pretty obvious to most anybody except for the novas onlooker. Perhaps it would have been worthy on mention. I speak of magnetic adhesion results, which kind of rules out the fiberglass comment you made. I've met some really great guys that were members of the POCA. They've shared a lot of their wisdom and I am grateful for this. Likewise, I met a few along the way that seemed to be know it all dusche bags as well. These are usually the self promoting type, that place value in casting judgement, thinking somehow that gains them credibility. Despite your astonishment, I actually make my living doing this. In the end, life's about the people we meet anyway, not the plaques hangin on our walls. I wish you great success in whatever it is that you do- God Bless Jason Phillips
That is not the original factory interior. The original interior was black on black. They also did not come with faux wood grain inserts, that is aftermarket also. That interior came on newer Pantera's. Regarding the steering wheel being cocked to one side, that is because when the alignment was done they did not set the steering timing( read:straight ahead or 12 o'clock). The Pantera is notorious for losing its alignment, though that is can be fixed ( set the alignment and lock it in place) with a after market kit sold by Hall Pantera. The Pantera is not a daily driver, the cabin noise will leave you with a headache that won't quit. Over all that car is in good shape. The wing is also not original and does little for improving on the cars aerodynamics, at sharp turns the down pressure that it does exert will diminish and also can add to instability. I owned a grey 76' GTS5.
SuperStig23 : 569 pounds. And it made 266 horsepower net on just 8.4 or less compression with a 270/280 exhaust hydraulic cam that still allowed it to rev to 6150 rpm. As for a truck motor, no...it was the base Mustang and Torino 4v engine, and it wasnt even the Boss 351C.It sure wasnt a truck engine untill Ford Australia used it in the F100 and Bronco. Anyone who has driven one wont be disapointed with the huge 4V heads and carbs mid range thump that hits hard from 2800 and doesnt let up till just shy of 6000 rpm. Its just like a Maserati Bora 4.7 or 5 liter, only with a little less horsepower without the Hall Panteta quad Weber conversion. Ford and de Tomaso didnt see fit to add the Boss 351 290 or Phase II 310 or Phase III/IV 300 degree solid lifter cam that made the early Cleveland 4V HO's 330 to 390 hp net ratings possiable with just a quad barrel 750 or 780 cfm carb.
Blazer Maniac I take that back. Panteras are known for deceiving speed. 150 probably feels about like 80. Its not a normal car. Its a Pantera. AND its black. I like the earlier chrome bumper cars, but I'd take this one in a heartbeat. Still wanna know what its worth.
+Blazer Maniac You are exactly right. Unless you have a point of reference it is darned near impossible to tell the difference between 75 mph and 125 mph in a Pantera. 125 mph is a pace the car will effortlessly cruise at all day long. :-)
god i'd love to get my hands on one. i had 68 RS/SS, 73 Z28 and 300ZxTT. i would have loved to own one of these, but i'd do something about the engine (maybe toss an ls2 or 3 inside it)
AutoAppraise Not really ther is acompany in Ca. That does them www.saccrestorations.net/, they are currenty working on an LS9 conversion. The Hot engine to switch to now is the Ford Coyote. 4 cam efi can do 8k Rpm . t's rated at 420 Hp but dyno tests have shown it to be higher. There are several easy modifications that can bring it over 500hp and edelbrock sells a super charged version that's 700 HP.
Is is/was for sale. I'm not sure if the buyer that hired me bought it or not. Email me, and I'll follow up with you after the holidays. I'm not able to give you the email address in this response, youtube doesn't allow me to post it for some reason. But look in my description, and you'll find it, along with my web address. Thanks, Jason 810-694-2008
I'm 6'5 and sat in the driver seat of a 73, your knees sit high up and theres not too much room to move, but it's worth it when you realize what car you're in
Tiny cockpit interior. Drop the floor-pan, which I believe the factory did in '76?? - I have dropped mine and gained 2.5 inches (even using proper well protected racing seats) without any ground clearance issues. Lots of space. You should have seen what the space was inside my old Vallelunga, but what the hell, who cares it drove great even with my head all crunched up under the roof.....
Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Most will never have a chance to ride in such a car.
I love the sound this car makes. I also love the aesthetics of this as well as the Lamborghini Countach.
Love the interior and dash on this thing. Don't seem to be seeing others that look even have as nice and aesthetically pleasing inside.
It's the kind of Jeep that leaves you all warm n fuzzy inside! Thanks!
That fact that you were driving 240kph (145mph) before slowing down and though you were driving 80 - 100 mph tells me this car must be riding very smooth.

The most reliable exotic car. Any Ford dealer can service.
9 years later and still a great test drive 👊
Thanks for the interior space mention. I'm 6'5 and know for certain to cross this off my wish list.
I love how you've shown the shifting(partially). Now you know what the NHL Hockey player Tim Horton saw before his death. He had a '72 and he was doing over 100mph. He died about 10 minutes away from my house in 1974.
it was well over 100 more like 140 , pretty sure he was tanked too
Beautiful car. Nice video. Please, put the steeringwheel straigt!!!
Needs an alignment lol
NO!!! Not another LS engine swap. One word guys. Coyote!! That would be one hell of an engine swap!!
This is the one that Testors put out a scale model kit that I built when I was a kid. Always desired this car strongly!
This Pantera seemed to enjoy running hot! That was a tall temp, I agree, something they are known for. A lot of the Pantera De Tomasos have updated cooling systems to help alleviate this.
steady as a rock. I can see why people love them so much.
love these cars nothing like them built today,
I wanted this car SOOO bad, in 1973!! 1971 I rebuilt a 1968 ford falcon!! ✝🙏🏻💜
If you watch the video at time stamp 3:55 you will see the front boot lid popping up slightly,... due to the wind maybe?

1973 Pantera De Tomaso GTS, very beautifull old supercar !
Yes, the Pantera De Tomaso is a sexy body style. After riding in it, I'm certain it was all about the looks, and not about the comfort!
Ford Windsor 427 crate motor instead of Chevy please! my favorite car
the car is just super bro a great example

My all time favorite car...thanks for posting!
You are welcome! I hope you get the chance to someday ride in a Pantera DeTomaso GTS !

AutoAppraise Keep up the good work what was the appraised value of that Pantera?
Actually, it's a GT5 conversion - not a GT5S
That is not the original factory interior. The original interior was black on black. They also did not come with faux wood grain inserts, that is aftermarket also. That gated shifter!!
The white lines in the road just looked like spots! It's fast!
God 1973? It looks AWESOME!
Pantera looked and sounded awesome but seems like one minute it was there and then it was gone never to be seen again until now LOL
So what value did you assign this beauty?
Man...I gotta get me one!😎
think Ghia got the body spoy on.It's timeless, like a lot of Ferrari's
The Pantera's flux capacitor engaged just shortly after I shut off the video...unfortunately video does not work in the future.
That steering wheel is way cocked sideways. Alignment?
Beautiful Pantera. Is it for sale?
Beautiful machine , a favorite
Hi- Sorry for the late return message. I think the guy that hired me to inspect this Pantera De Tomaso may have bought it.
One of my projects!
Great car beautiful body, why put an under powered 800 LB cast iron truck engine in it ??.
That's what they had back in the 70's. Ford did this joint venture on purpose. Because they had a brighter idea! Lol.
SuperStig23 : 569 pounds. And it made 266 horsepower net on just 8.4 or less compression with a 270/280 exhaust hydraulic cam that still allowed it to rev to 6150 rpm. it seemed like you guys were pushing 240 kph......which is like 150 mph! it sounded amazingly quiet at that speed.
The Pantera is the best!! Elvis even owned one-----and it wouldn't start-----so guess what???---- HE SHOT IT!!!
Love any panther .
My God what a car
Its Kilometers Man!!! Cmon
My favorite band is pantera
Holy shit that was fun. Really geat video. Thank you! That car is like crack. I would never get out of it.
Thanks for your comments. Riding in it is almost as dangerous as crack!
You would think they would have the steering alignment sorted before the appraisal .. unless something more serious.
Beautiful car. Sounds choice too.
May have been the angle I was recording that Pantera from...I'll need to go back n see.
Gorgeous car!
Great car good video amazing car
Thanks!
240 kmh is about 150 mph. I doubt it was going that fast, so the speedo is probably off. So what is it appraised at?
Blazer Maniac I take that back. Panteras are known for deceiving speed. 150 probably feels about like 80. Its not a normal car. Its a Pantera. AND its black. I like the earlier chrome bumper cars, but I'd take this one in a heartbeat. Still wanna know what its worth.

Has the new dash, like that.
Never knew Kermit the Frog has such a great taste in cars
Nice,,but let's see it go through some corners!
Beautiful car
How much for the car.
god i'd love to get my hands on one. i had 68 RS/SS, 73 Z28 and 300ZxTT. i would have loved to own one of these, but i'd do something about the engine (maybe toss an ls2 or 3 inside it)

so is that! We should race!
I wish you give a little more info in the video.
Good styling car.
***** Frank indeed it is. Panteras are certianly sexy.
is it true that if the engine hits over 150 that shit can blow up...
Looks a lot better than Vince Neil’s.
A M A Z I N G C A R ! ! !
Thanks smokeum12. I used to smokeum2, now, I just mowem....
What did it appraise at?
theres a old dude down the road with a body and a whole car sitting ROTTING in his front yard
That should be a crime! Have you ever asked if he would sell it?
I want one.
Is is/was for sale. I'm not sure if the buyer that hired me bought it or not. Email me, and I'll follow up with you after the holidays. Dang nice
So jealous that's my feedback I want one but can't afford one :(
whats thehp
If that was the temp guage on the left and you let it get over 240 you let it get to to hot.
so what, this car is way more bad-ass!
Jeff- send me a link to your next recording! I'm a musician as well!
are you scared to acelerate more?
hell of a car...i love it....i will shit in my pants...this is awesome....what a car
If you shrted in that small car, all would be in trouble!
Pero que fiera de máquina.
is it for sale?
Not any more.... this Pantera was sold to the man that hired me to appraise it!
I had one back in 1984.((((
vince neil are you THE Vince Neil or a Vince Neil? Either way good taste in cars 👍
ds525252 : Even better taste in Music.Props VN.
Dean Stevenson ✔️✔️
Italio American child. Nice car!
This is a Pantera, the car in Back To The Future is a DeLorean.
is it a pantera detomaso, or a detomaso pantera? seen it spelled both ways
It depends mostly if you're reading upside down or not! :-)
An LS motor in a pantera would be stupid
These cars came with ford motors
Why ruin it changing it's history
Well what fun would THAT be?
Damn I wanted one until you said you were 6’6 and barely fit I’m 6’5 =(
I'm 6'5 and sat in the driver seat of a 73, your knees sit high up and theres not too much room to move, but it's worth it when you realize what car you're in
My name is Jason Phillips. lol
That off center steering wheel is hurting my OCD.
god, what a fucking car...
KOOL !
Grande auto italo americana
Hi- It was a pre-purchase inspection, if you email me, I can share this info. Thanks
What is the price????

It needs a major alignment.
Hittin 150 mph will engage the flux capacitor
