In this video I go back to my rots of using Live Bait for Trout and Redfish. I prefer to use 2 rods with baitrunner reels for such a task on the Ultraskiff. The main reason is that I like to keep my rod tip pointed directly at the bait, and if your bait swims, current takes it or the boat shifts then you get slack in the line which decreases your ability and speed at which you can detect a bite. I figured it would be a good idea to talk about this in a video and show it in more detail. Little did I know I was going to have such an epic 2 hours of fishing that day. It was the only day I used bait this entire year mainly because they closed all trout and Redfish for an entire year just a couple weeks after I filmed this and secondly because I don't think I would of topped the action I had even if I did try again. The action was so non stop I had to make 3 videos out just 2 hours of fishing. If anyone has any questions feel free to reach out to us. Thanks a lot for watching and as always, Tight Lines!
The Ultraskiff is a portable fishing platform that has become a excellent solo person skiff alternative to kayak fishing, duck boats, pond boats, jon boats, drift boats, solo micro skiffs, pontoon boats, float tubes or SUP's. These portable round boats are great for Bass Fishing, Flats Fishing, Fly Fishing, Duck Hunting or Pleasure Boating.
where did you get that hurricane rod
Dicks sporting goods a couple years ago
Oh wait your talking about the one with the blue accents, that rod is an old school redbone, probably about 16 years old! I have caught a ton of fish on that rod in my life. A friend of mine recently cleaned it up and did some custom painting on the rod and replaced the guides a couple years ago. The new redbones just don't have the same action!
What rod do you recommend? Just picked up the 8000oc wanting to use it at the coast.
Seen you yesterday in Belleair on the lake I was on the other side when you was packing up leaving
