  • Join us canoe camping in Algonquin Park on a backcountry wilderness trip. We load up our canoe with all our camping gear and head out of Cedar lake in North Algonquin on a 4 day loop. This canoe camping trip started with gorgeous waterfalls and scenic views. Along the way we encounter some challenging weather on this canoe adventure. Hot and humid conditions in Algonquin create the perfect conditions for lots of thunderstorms.

    Got to love those hot summer humid trips when everything seems icky and damp! And the no see ums. They are the worst! Glad you guys got out together! I assume Paige is vegetarian or vegan?

      I might like the cold more than the extreme heat especially when it's so humid. Paige is pescatarian but I eat meat. Thanks for stopping by David

    Awesome trip...and otters too! Thanks for sharing. Kinda wish you would say what lakes/ rivers you were on so I could pull out my Jeff's Map and follow along, but I understand the necessity to keep it protected.

      Hey Paul, on this trip we travelled up the Petawawa, through the unmaintained small lakes, up to the Nipissing and downstream back to Cedar. I don't mind sharing the route with you. I always enjoy seeing otters, they're so curious and unpredictable. Thanks for checking out the video!

      Hey Greg, I was pretty busy over the summer and wasn't able to post as much as I would have liked. I will be posting more regularly now and my fall colour video is up. Thanks for following my adventures!

    What model of that langford do you have? I have a UL nahanni . Too bad the fish weren't cooperating

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an older model of their prospector 16.6 that I bought used when I was a young teenager. It's been with me on many trips. With the crazy weather we had on this trip, it wasn't surprising that the fish were turned off. You can't always catch them. Thanks for watching Alex!

    How did you store your meat?

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will often precook meat or freeze it raw if it's for the first night. If the temperatures are cooler frozen meat wrapped in news paper or insulated some other way will last a few days. Dry cured meats like salami will last many days. I always try to keep my food pack in the shade when possible and out of the direct sunlight. Thanks for the question and for watching!

    The north side of Algonquin looks very scenic and quiet. I like those meandering alder and grass banked streams. Like you said Alec, 'you never know what's around the next corner'. Positive attitude in the face of rain takes the weather right out of the equation, nicely done Alec and Paige! Keep adventuring!

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meandering rivers are very peaceful to paddle as long as the water levels are high enough. That hasn't been an issue this summer. We knew it was going to be a wet trip but we never let the weather stop us from enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for following my adventures Ian!

      @@ianmacrae4963 Nah, Radiant doesn't have that formation and island. Looks like Catfish Lake, then down the Petawawa and back up the Nipissing with the current. Looks like a great trip.
