I remember having an intense fear of Taimyo when I first got into Arena.
I blew all my wildcards on a bad grixis pile and would get ground to dust by Nexus decks.
I did learn how and when to win by decking in terrible grindy matchups and developed a love for Legion Warboss so I guess it’s not all bad.

Honestly, I really appreciate the brevity. I follow plenty of Magic TH-camrs with hour-plus videos and I either fast-forward through stretches of them or I just switch them on in the background. 10-15 minutes is the perfect amount of time for something edited down to just the good stuff.
I imagine the amount of time it takes to create a minute of this content must be many times over a normal Magic video, especially since these videos not only have graphics but also have narration added in post + I imagine many games must be played to be able to pull off some of the janky combos.

All of the animations are SO SMOOTH!! Phil your editing was always great but the last few videos have really knocked it out of the park.

Just wanted to say I love your commitment to quality even when it was only your first video. Still one of the best editors I've seen. You make MTG gameplay so entertaining. Its interesting how much more confident Phil is when he's on script. During Commander Clash and podcasts he barely speaks
Yeah that's why I will probably never stream as well. Since english isn't my first language, my thoughs have to go through the translation process in my brain before they can come out. It got a bit better over the last year of being on clash but thinking about and scripting bits will always make for more entertaining content since I can work in more jokes and edits
@@BrewersKitchen Phil, have you ever considered doing stand-up comedy? I don't know if you have any desire, but your scripted jokes are legitimately great, at least in English.
@@shadowpsyke I'm an enormous fan of standup and comedy in general. I’m not sure if I could control a crowd or withstand the insane cringe of bombing. I’m already insanely happy to have found a job in comedy/entertainment, but there may be a universe where I’m telling jokes on stage or doing sketch videos 😆

I know exactly what you mean. I just returned from a trip to Germany, and my German is decent enough to understand 90% and to hold a conversation. But sometimes a topic has already moved to the next subject, before I have formulated what I want to say in German.
I guess it's just a matter of more practise until we feel comfortable enough in speaking the language.

I see opponent 2 has figured out a way to make Alrund's Epiphany even more annoying than it was in Standard. If taking all the turns wasn't enough, how about also making the opponent not take any turns.
Control players believe that there is a finite amount of fun to be had in an MTG game and they intend to have all of it

So, in many ways, I hate this style of deck. I've never been terribly fond of "prison-style" decks that say the opponent can't play the game, and I despise Eldraine with every fiber of my being.
None of that matters to me here though. This was a blast to watch, and I want to be clear that you've pretty quickly become my favorite Magic content creator. I love the energy you bring to all your videos, the giddy enthusiasm and the upbeat attitude. It's wonderful, and I always look forward to more Brewer's Kitchen. I just spent the past week an half grinding eldraine packs for 4x fires 4x fae an a bunch of the other cards. only missing 2nd World tree, 2nd otawara, the red legend land, a temple and 3 triomes 😆
played first few games against bot to prevent shame conceding and just took it to the play que this evening. First game against esper control 🙄 did not start well for me but a turn 4 fires (he countered the t3 one) into escape the wilds just pulled me too far ahead.

the bonus game shame scoop was hysterical
I had a game of EDH I mean “historic brawl”playing budget shines without looking up a deck list. My opponent was also playing tribal wubrg shrines and had a far better board state and lethal on board. They had it in the bag because I was color screwed(in 5 colors with tri and dual lands I know.) but I top decked ruinous ultimatum and I kid you not they just walked away from the computer and I won by time out.

I made a mono black deck that is 4 creatures, topped up with about 36 pieces of removal. They usually end like these games. Salty people spamming "nice!" or timing out the rope lol.
