Hi! I am Bethany Russell, creator of Rice Diet Support, a new online community with FREE resources for people looking to improve their health with Dr. Walter Kempner’s revolutionary Rice Diet. Being diagnosed with a life-altering illness in my 20’s brought me to the work of Dr. John McDougall and Dr. Walter Kempner. In this presentation I discuss my personal health and weight-loss journey including how I lost 90lbs in 4 months in 2014! I demonstrate some of Kempner’s medical archives with quotes from the experts on how dietary change can improve conditions such as: heart disease, diabetes T2, kidney disease, hypertension, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity and more.
Stress and external factors may play a role in our overall health, but what impacts our health the most is what we eat. I am not a success story, although I have some of those, I also have failure stories. I hope you will gain something from my presentation and walk away with a renewed perspective. My hope is to do my part to reach the sick and to spread the word of alternative therapies for people who may be walking in my shoes looking for their last hope. To anyone battling obesity and/or severe illness, my heart goes out to you. I hope and pray that you will find relief from your pain and that you may reach your goals. Never give up. Stand in hope!

Love your outfit AJ. Listen, my mother and l are Chinese girls. Mom was born in China and l was made in China, born in California 67 years ago. We eat nothing but white rice....my mother is 100 and still alive and lm 67. l know all the junk foods of the western world all too well. But my main course is white steamed rice....including potatoes now; just as Dr. McDougall recommends. lm on the Starch Solution since Feburary; and lve lost closing in on 20 lbs. My goal is maybe 5 to 15 more; then my size 6's will all fit back perfectly. l enjoy watching your programs. The most funniest one is when you were on Johnny Carson ❤

I have eaten a statched based diet for quite some time. The majority of my calories came from potatoes . I love potatoes. Then I had a couple of years of blood test my CRP (inflammation) was higher then normal. I had read about nightshade and replaced my potatoes with brown rice and other grains. It was amazing the difference. The stiffness in my body melted away. My last blood work came back normal. Rice is amazing!!!

Chef AJ, this presentation was so wonderful! Bethany is a gift to this community! Her presentation was so well laid out and the fact that she is so transparent and open about her early life and struggles just solidifies, for me, how much "IT'S THE FOOD." Eating a whole food vegan diet changes everything! And the photos of the food that Bethany posted just makes me want to try everything she showed.

The less I eat such as less dairy less meat etc the better I feel. I have always had food allergies my entire life. This is so true. God Bless you all. I recently went off plan and was in so much pain. I’m correcting it now. Never again. This scares me because RA is progressive. Glad I got the diet corrected before I created more damage. Rice fruit and veggies for now before I transition back to mcdougall. I think km in your group.

I found I was doing a rice Center diet with just vegetables. it was very difficult without sodium. Thankfully a Dr. McDougall he emailed me back and told me that 500 mg-1000mg of soy sauce or some type of sodium would be OK. And that small change made a world of difference for me. I play sports and I’m active eating and extremely low sodium diet did not benefit me. And he told me in the intensive care unit in the hospital a low sodium diet is 2000 mg.

what year was the person who lost weight and diabetes was cured that you showed their health data about mid-video which included improvement of their Hemoglobin A1C? Dr Kempner practiced earlier on before Hemoglobin A1C was even discovered/invented/used (1968 discovered, used in 1975). So was the data you presented on another patient at a Rice house somewhere and not a patient of Dr Kempner's himself? All the other data you showed looked like Dr. Kempner's actual data. Just curious, thanks.

Dr. Kempner saw patients into the late 80’s and his work continued even after his retirement under Dr. Rosati and Dr. Neelon. The patient you are referring to is “patient X” from Dr. Neelon’s presentation on Chef AJ.

The rice and potato diet sound good in theory. The problem is that both rice and potatoes are highly toxic. Rice is loaded with arsenic and potatoes have loads of toxic herbacides, fungicides and pesticides and probably a good dose of heavy metals to boot. i'm currently researching better and safer starch alternatives. Any ideas?

If you are following the rice diet specifically only rice and fruits. Later veggies can be used. No nuts or seeds.
If you are following Starch solution allows for lentils. Nuts and seeds are used sparingly, not at all if trying to lose weight.

Initially they only suggested for rice, vegetables and fruits, since they contain low protein and dr Kempner was trying to cure patients with chronic kidney disease and high blood pressure. 90% diet consisted of carbohydrates and only 5/5% consisting of protein and fats. Once the disease is completely rid we can add foods based on elimination diet. Like dr mcdougall. You can add beans and lentils after some time and see if it works for. Also need to start with little fish or chicken to see if the arthritis or gout comes back. Oils need to be completely removed. Rest is elimination part of the diet.

Beans and legumes, high in phytic acid! Not good for absorption of calcium...protein isn't always the first thing you should worry about not getting.
I'm just learning about phytic acid issues on my own through personal deficiencies causing health issues.

YES definitely they are depending on which phase you're on. You can have cooked rice or cooked dried beans or cooked grains, pasta or starchy vegetables of potatoes, corn, green peas, yam or one slice of bread or cereal on TRD Solution. I took this right out of one of the books. If using TRD Report it is phase 4 not during weight loss that I could find. It is hard with no index in Judy's book.
