the beginning of this video did something for me because i just did my big chop and hearing you say that you felt that exact same way i'm feeling now and then seeing you being so happy with yourself and loving your hair after made me realize it's worth that journey of really learning to love your hair as is

I love how you spoke on confidence and made it a point that you wanted to be confident as your natural self with your curls, I've never has a relaxer but I enjoyed this so much

I’m so scared of cutting my hair and that’s exactly why I believe I need to cut it. I never permed my hair but I don’t even know what my real hair texture is. Thank you for sharing your experience 🥰

omg back in high school, I started my locs and I went through the same thing, feeling ugly and all of that! When I was younger, my mom relaxed my hair and it was ‘good’ at first but after years my hair was so damaged from relaxers/perms. I got tired of braids so I decided that I wanted to loc my hair- which I literally went through an ugly phase. I went to a salon, they braided my permed hair and I let my new growth come in, I twisted that until it was long enough to cut off the permed hair. I got mixed reactions, some people thought what I did made no sense. Some people congratulated me for being so bold.
    Now I’m happy 😃 this was 10 years ago. I’m 27 now.
Your hair one of the reason I liked your channel. I love seeing more women of color wearing their natural hair. It’s sooooo beautiful 😍! Sometimes I wonder how I would look without locs, but then I think to myself I wouldn’t be ME without my locs.

I edited this part out, but sooo many people had weird looks at me too!! AND stuff to say and I’m like you’re so bold commenting on someone’s appearance!!! It’s def hard, and I’m still waiting to be like 100% comfortable.
I’m sooo happy to hear that about your first impression though!!! I’ve always wanted to just be myself while also standing out, and I’ve thought so many times about going back straight but I 100% agree that when I find youtubers rocking their curls, I’m soooo drawn into who they are because I know how hard it is!!
Thanks for the sweet comment!!! 💛

Of course girl, as black women specifically we have been taught that our skin, our body, lips, hair, etc isn’t the standard of beauty. And for so long society has been trying to Euro-fy black women to be “more acceptable” in this world. It’s lovely to see so many brown skinned women being their natural self because they’re beautiful! It takes time time to grow and learn to love what god gave you but it is so worth it. Our hair is literally our strength because we get tired of it at times but we still love it.

you are so beautiful no matter what hair you have but i loved this video and how honest you were through this process. i remember only cutting my hair to my shoulders & thinking i was ugly😂 it’s crazy how much we rely on certain things to make us feel pretty when true beauty is reliant on so much more. you are GORGEOUS inside & out💕
