I was once a Toyota Journeyman tech from 2006-2010 in Minneapolis at a large volume dealership. We use to replace multiple rusty toyota truck frames daily (due to the safety lawsuit won by owners not just a recall by Toyota) with a crew of 3 master techs and the trucks tacoma/tundra/4runners at the time had more issues with the trucks than what is common knowledge or for blind brand followers won't be acknowledged by the toyota faithfuls. I use to be a toyota faithful until I worked for the company and after my 05 Tacoma was bought back as a lemon I decided to try a NIssan Xterra in 2010 and can honestly say after owning and working on both brands Nissan makes a better built truck to this day.
Absolutely! I have a 22 s 4x4. After 30k miles it's been and still is an incredible truck! So glad I purchased one. Not so much as a squeak! It's been extremely durable and reliable for me!😊😊
Same here and got a good deal. Great time of year to buy as they had new '24's on the lot and needed to clear out the '23 models. Had two identical sister P4X's on the lot with 5k off MSRP so I had a pick between two pearl blue models. Love these trucks!
Just love their simplicity like the interior with a splash of modern mixed with good ole fashion BUTTONS and KNOBS! Also love the hydraulic steering. Truck is effortless to drive.
Exactly right, more bang for your buck. Engine is time tested and reliable just have to put a catch can and keep an eye on the valves due to direct injection carbon build up. Most mods from 2nd gen will fit as well as Titan parts like the VK56 engine. It is more old school which is what enthusiasts want, to actually drive the truck and feel the mechanical feed back not push 3 buttons and watch the computer drive the truck for you(drive modes, sensors, assists, electric steering, etc). More tech is more problems especially if you want to off road the truck.
I'm a current 2022 Tacoma TRD owner ... 100% agreed with your review .. Toyota surely getting greedy. Save your money to do something else instead of paying these unnecessary extra on the new Tacoma 😊
Got a 23 Pro4x did about 10k-12k in Mods with a Titan swap, tune, exhaust and intake from you guys + some exterior mods and I guarantee it out performs the New TRD pro in all aspects. For around 55k-57k fully built ill take that over the new TRD pro any day and save 20k.
Just picked up my '23 pro-4x and cant wait to start modding it with z1 products. Your videos are great and products are priced super competitively. Definitely will support a company like this.
I still have the 87 Hardbody I bought used 30 years ago. Had no idea I'd still be driving it today. People come up and say they wish they kept theirs. Z1, can you lean on Nissan to put the manual back in thr trucks please?
I chose a 2023 Nissan frontier pro 4X with all the bells and whistles and still paid under 50,000 for it. The only part that sucks is California doesn’t allow the supercharger that Z1 gonna put out.
i bought a 24 pro 4X 5 months ago just put on your leaving kit the garage that put it on along with a new plow said i needed the esentotric kit witch i should have bought when i got the leaving kit jut ordered the kit today then will get that installed
I'm waiting for the 3rd Gen Xterra, based of the new Frontier. Nissan already teased it in a recent video. They'd be fools not to make one. Nobody wants all that 4 cylinder turbo and turbo hybrid crap.
What do you think long-term about the Frontier being solely direct injected? I know that top tier gas and a catch can help, but carbon buildup is inevitable on any GDI engine. I want the new Frontier like no other, but This is my ONLY gripe about it.
Do you guys have any pull at Nissan to beg for a return of the six speed stick? They won't even let me speak to the design department. Such an important thing to leave out of this great vehicle. My Hardbody manual is 37 years old. No modern automatic is going to last like that. I do not want a $6000 repair down the road.
We wish we did, we get to talk to some of them at the events and we have been trying to put a bug in their ear about several things. Mainly a N51 Xterra. But no luck yet.
Wow! Just came back from an offroad trip and camp out with a group of friends here in California through Big Bear, down Rattlesnake Canyon to Johnson Valley, through the high desert and then to Cleghorn 4x4 trail. Our boy with his 24 Frontier Pro 4x was struggling BAD on these tight, exposed and endless trails and switch backs. We all found out just how bad his trucks turning radius and heavy steering is on the trails, and we had to save his truck more than once using straps and even one of our winches so he wouldn't get it stuck or die. We were so glad it wasn't heavily modified or else, who TF knows how much worse it would have been with a lift, larger tires and more weight and such. It was the only truck that we had to stop for regularly and get out and guide, just so he could make a simple switch back. 🤦🏾♂️ He's only had it for a month and after his ordeal this past long 4th of July pre weekend, he already made up his mind and is going back to a 3rd gen Tacoma lol! He literally traded his 19 Tacoma TRD pro for it and is now kicking himself for doing so. Long story short: the frontier is not trail friendly and I would recommend that you NEVER go solo on some isolated and potentially dangerous or advanced trails. I go solo on my Taco all the time with my kids and lady, but wouldn't do the same on a frontier. I guess I love my family too much. Also, he tore the F out of the back sides of the rear seat back rests folded down, since they are lined with weak cloth, after putting his fridge and some other materials that he would carry on his Tacoma for the trip lol! How TF you don't line them with hard materials like the Taco and other trucks?
The frontier is nothing but a refreshed last gen. Bones are from 2005. I wouldn't pay near 50k for a truck that was 37k just a few years ago with a refreshed exterior and interior. Old technology really the frontier should be 40k max
Um you are repeating others …it’s a heavily modified last gen frame. Thicker steel than the newer competition. The exterior is new and looks great. The interior is new, and functional with real knobs not tricky menus. The engine and trans were new and designed for this new truck. It has a couple of older components… hydraulic steering, and lack of telescoping steering. 99% is new. I bet it will age better than the competition.
@@mikesawyer1336 its the old frame. Same as titan. Same 4wd system as the last gen. The engine and trans came from the last gen lol. It was in there for 2 years before the "refresh".
@mikesawyer1336 Hydraulic steering is a blessing. If it goes out, you're looking at a hundred and fifty bucks in a few hours of work. My two thousand and twelve honda, civic has electrical power, steering and a small Sensor went out and it's going to cost me $1100. Because the dealer has to program the sensor or will not work on my car.
2 major problems with the Frontier. 1. Basic telescopic steering wheel. Almost ALL vehicles have this. 2. Limited range adjustments for the driver. ZERO for the passenger. Fix those and it'll outsell the Tacoma.
I'm 6-1, have had a Nissan Hardbody for 30 years, and have never needed or even thought about telescopic steering. Sometimes it's just a gadget list that modern fickle buyers crave. Nevertheless, Nissan has made it standard in ALL 2025s to shut up the snowflakes and crybabies. My pickup was done well enough ergonomic wise that it does not need the adjustment. But my Honda sure could use it.

Still waiting for your z1 bumper and wanting to compare the price to the cbi covert bumper. If it's under $900 I would buy.
I hope z1 starts offering cool wrap designs for the frontiers. That would add to your arsenal of weapons.
