Even though you may have power ,it might not be enough. Check your 3 button information center and find the battery voltage menu .you need12 . 4 volts anything less might be an indication of battery issues. Check the battery voltage and do a load test . Check the terminals and wiring for corrosion under the red &black insulation. If the copper wires are anything but shiny copper ,like green color or white powdering ,that is an indicator of resistance increasing the battery voltage and amperage of the battery's ability to push current though the corroded power leads .
@@danny-L0p3z it turned out to be a bad cell in the battery. It could charge just enough to do what you see in the video. Tested the battery at the store, replaced it and it's all good.
i did same new battery drove for 3 days to work and 4 day got message and car didnt make it home and that was on new battery car sat for couple months prior did u figure out prob?
That sucks. Just last week I had the same issue with a Duralast in one of our other cars. I suspect they may be made by the same manufacturer. I've NEVER had a battery go bad in this way before these 2.
@Ethan Young My Interstate was still working until it fried the alternator. I would get a new battery asap not interstate, got mine from oreilly's and havent had a problem since. Just dont wait any longer on swapping out the battery.
@Ethan Young Mine started several times before it finally just wouldn't. If it looks like all of this, I'd get the battery checked. I found a code reader that has an app that will also check the battery called "Autophix" that seems to be able to diagnose this issue. We had it happen on another car with an auto zone battery and it called it correctly.
Just bought a car, lights were dimming on and off often. Bought new battery, now sometimes dim off and on. You think it affected alternator, do i need to buy new also? Ty
Okay so I have a question I have a 2006 grand prix the info center tells me service theft system. Car will crank but not start. Any ideas on the cause?
If it's acting like mine did in the video, it's a bad cell on the battery. Enough to run some things, but not enough for the car to turn over. It did crank a couple of times at first but then nothing but what I showed here. Take the battery out and have it tested at a car parts place, they usually do it free. Interstate tested mine and confirmed the issue.
My 04 Pontiac grand prix is doing the same thing as yours. I have an interstate green battery in it. I was shocked to see you had a bad cell. My car didn't give me any info on what's wrong with it. Just does the clicking sound and everything is on but won't turn over. So I'm going to have the battery checked and go from there. Thanks for sharing! 👍
@@boxout90 I found out it was a bad starter. After replacing the starter the car fired right up and everything is working fine. At first we thought it was the battery or security system but troubled shoot all wires for current. 👍
It's in the comments, but it turned out to be a bad cell on the car battery. Interstate replaced the battery under warranty and it was all back to normal.
I wonder if it’s just my battery or alternator my lights started flickering on and off and my car started to lock and unlock itself

Thanks Arnold, it turned out to be the battery itself had a bad cell causing the issues.
I have a 12 volt battery from EverStart do I need a new battery if it says it’s a 12 volt battery
Fixed, update is in comments. Odd, I wouldn't have expected these symptoms, but it's fine now.
What do you do to make it work.

My wife stock stereo would stay on internally and would kill battery changed radio no more issues
Id clean all the grounds. 3 i think.
Starter regardless of clicking u may hear from starter
That's what my issue was a bad starter. Good advice to others to check it as well. 👍
I saw the Interstate battery and knew the problem right away. Had the same issue with mine. Too bad it roasted the alternator too.

@Ethan Young One cell in your battery is either shorted or open causing the charging failure light.

Even just a loose terminal can cause this issue.

Mine did the same, and I have 06.
