I had a really good growth year in 2023 with mini twists, silk presses by roller setting, twists with extensions, and professional silk presses. I plan to stick to it this year i have some lessons learned i want to improve this year. You have taught me a lot!
Can you explain more as to why you first cleanse out of the shower? & then do your second cleanse in the shower? Also do you have any tips for maintaining thickness around your temple/hairline area? Beautiful video by the way I see the comfort you have with your natural hair. BEAUTIFUL !
Hello. Thank you! I cleanse my scalp out of the shower and then I cleanse the length of my hair in the shower. I do this so I can clearly see what I am working with and to make sure I don't miss any spots. I have gotten out of the shower before and apart of my scalp has not been cleansed, lol, just like in the video when I was applying the deep conditioner I miss a few strands of hair. Also, it saves water ! - For your temple and nape area make sure your products are not drying our your edges. For instance I use to use eco styled gel with Argan oil and I started to realize it was drying my edges out. - Stay away from too tight styles, they will pull your edges and then tension can create breakage and traction alopecia. - For your nape with is difficult for most people to care for because we cannot see back there, just be gentle. - For your edges try rosemary oil and/or peppermint there are studies that have shown both oil can help with regeneration of the hair follicle.
Beautiful hair and spirit. Your channel came up on my recommendation list and I've been binge watching for a good part of the morning. I've been on my microlocs journey for the past 3yrs...I can appreciate the care you put into your hair. I've learned less is definitely more especially whwn consistent. Wow! I was looking forward to seeing this! Your hair reverted so nicely, Mya. Your hair looks so healthy and responded well to your wash day and deep treatment. How much Amla do you place in your deep conditioner? Girl...I though I was the only one that liked Target bags for deep conditioning. :) I save mine specifically for these type treatments. I would be remiss to not mention 20K subscribers! Congratulations! I'm not surprise and wishing you even more in 2024!!! ♥
Hey MJ! Thank you for the 20k, it came out of nowhere, I feel blessed. For the Amla I add 1 teaspoon to the deep conditioner, or your common plastic spoon size. LMBO David cant stand the Target bags, I just hide them in my cloffice.
Yes! Detangling out of the shower is the best. I noticed I'm not breaking strands of hair needlessly. So glad your curls are back. It'll be interesting to see your journey with caring for the hair at back.
This was great. I will definitely be applying shampoo to my scalp before going into the shower and doing smaller sections. I am having issues with my nape too, interested to see how your journey goes.
Yay I’m so glad you posted this video I was very curious and hopeful your curls bounced back 😊 I know the feeling of having heat damage so I’m always hoping my natural sisters don’t have to experience it. Also did you happen to record a video of you flat ironing your hair?
Hello Tiffany! Thank you. I typically do, but for 2023 there was so much going on I was not able to. But here is the one from 2022: th-cam.com/video/gHiq725OHqs/w-d-xo.html
Well......I am currently stalking my mailmen lol, but on a serious note, right now I have mini twists in, which will stay in for 2 weeks. So I would probably say early February!
Hi there. Can you share more about the duckbill clips in front? I notice you use them after washing and sometimes during the week. What do they help with exactly? Do you notice any ripping or breaking in that area?
Hello. I have not noticed any breakage or ripping. At night I use them to keep the silk scarf on my head. On wash day I use them to help lay my roots down.

Hello! I'm new to your channel and was wondering how do you keep your nails and skin so healthy? I've always wanted to grow out my nails but they tend to break off quite easily as of late.
Hello and welcome the community. I dont do really do anything to my nails, but trim trim them. In the cooler months they tend to grow slow. In the warmer months they grow like crazy. I had a period where I was getting my nails and always messing with them and they became brittle and dry. I find that when I leave them alone they thrive.
Her curls look really healthy. I don’t see no heat damage whatsoever.❤
Thank you !
