Hey can you make a video in further detail about each step for sounding like Kermit the frog so I can have a better understanding of tongue clench and how to do it along with how to correctly do the other steps in greater detail.
Okay, not gonna lie. I do a Kermit the frog impression a lot. A lot. And I have NEVER searched for ANYTHING to do with Kermit. One day, while I was browsing TH-cam, THIS VIDEO SHOWS UP IN MY FEED AS AN AD. They know...
Some guy once told me this story One in a technology class, for what ever reason we were talking about kermit the frog. The teacher noticed and told us to quiet down and "stop kermit". Then, in a completely quiet classroom, some kid, in a completely flawless Kermit the Frog voice, said "I never die".
Kermit's voice was actually quite similar to Jim Henson's real voice. He changed the tone (made it sound more rubbery), but he didn't really change his accent much at all. This is why it's very difficult to get his voice right and why even the pros who replaced Jim after he died didn't really sound like Kermit. What I find most interesting is that Jim was from Mississippi but didn't have a hint of a southern accent. He always sounded like someone from upstate New York to me.
That means you will need to make an adjustment to the first component, the vocal cords! Practice sliding from high to low to get a sense of how to lower your pitch. Then bring all of the Kermit components back in and see how you sound! - NYSC
You could try pulling your face in this same position that Jim did; You frown and sort of pull out your mouth to the side. Steve Whitmire even said that's how he learned to do the voice. Source: The Muppet Show Live 2002.
As a singer whose first initial is B and last name is GREEN, well, "It's Not Easy Bein' Green" entered my repertoire at a very early age, and my ability to pull off this voice fairly effortlessly has gotten me the nickname "Kermit" on social media. Sometimes it IS easy bein' green.
According to Frank Oz and Bill Barretta, the voice is only about 10 percent of performing a character. The rest comes from acting and the physical puppeteering of the character.
Honestly I have literally never done an impression before and this video helped me so much. I still obvi need a lot of practice but it does kinda sound like Kermit.
Here’s the thing about Kermit. Just like professor Snape, you need to clench the tongue in order to maintain the voice. Don’t clench it enough you aren’t getting anywhere but clench it too much and you also lose that voice entirely because it won’t sound like the character at all. The thing that is extremely challenging for Kermit is that you have to keep the tongue clenched at an exact degree or you’ll lose the voice entirely and whenever he gets intense or is angry that can harder to do because at higher volumes you may lose track of how much you’re clenching the tongue. Sometimes just one component alone can get you to getting a character voice right but overdo it and things get outta place. It’s a difficult balance to control
Bro. i legit didn’t even know i could do a Kermit impression and i could do it better without watching this video. no hate tho! such an awesome tutorial! definitely subbed!

I can easily do a spot on version of Kermit the Frog as done by Jim Henson because my normal speaking voice pretty much sounds just like Jim Henson! Years ago back in the '80s I would occasionally have strangers who had seen him interviewed tell me how much I sounded like Jim Henson, and I'd just let my voice slide into "Kermit the Frog" and tell them "Thank you very much" just to see their jaws drop and have them laugh! :-)
According to Steve, when Jim voiced Kermit, he pulled his face in a certain position, and I quote; "He frowned, and he sort of pulled his mouth out to the side" Source: The Muppet Show Live 2002.
