I completely agree with this review. I started on a 250 and moved to this exact bike after six months. It's perfect! Very comfortable, has good throttle control, etc. I use it to commute about 60 miles each day to work. It's also decent on the track. Wish I had gone with this bike first!

I picked up a 2007 zzr600 with 46k on the odometer .... I know I took a gamble but the bike is running really good so far! paid 1300 out there door. my first bike... if it has any issues down the road then it is what it is! the risk I took buying used, so far so good though fires right up on cold starts.. easy to ride.

The late zzr600s, with those ZX12R like headlights look gorgeous. All black it has an elegant touch to it.
Would buy this bike without a second thought.

Very nice bike! Do you have any experience with the older mid 90s zzr?

I got the same 08 zzr as my first bike a year and a half. I thought about gettin a 250 at first but glad i didn't . Best starter bike ever and I still ride it today.

    Hey,
Thanks for reviewing the bike man! I'm also from Toronto and I though about getting a 250cc but I am pretty much ready to pull the trigger and get one of these as the insurance is lower considering it is a "sport touring" bike (which is not true).
Suzuki GSX R 600 is an option but the insurance is $2k with state farm. I'm 25, m2 licence.
Would you recommend any other bike?
    Did you sell your bike?

hi, i've got the same bike recently and was about to upgrade the stock exhaust to a two brothers slip on, the same as yours i guess, but was wondering how loud that exhaust could be, i mean its a great sound but i don't want my neighbors complaining if i choose to ride at nigh or turn the bike on inside the house, so is the two bros that loud or would you recommend it anyway, thanks!

I just purchased this bike, 13k miles $2000, excellent condition. My first bike. Excited. I don't have my license yet but will be taking the CA CHP course. Anything I should know more about this bike?

Hey Im 6feet even and weigh 190lbs and sit on the bike perfectly. I think you should be OK. Good idea to see if a local dealer has one in stock so that you can test it out. Best of luck on your search and Enjoy!

I'm 5'4 and I do just fine on it. It's not bad for a beginner bike either. The bike turns great, comfortable, medium power.Overall I enjoy this bike more than my 07 R6. I just installed a rentect rear luggage rack on it, painted frame black, and painted the plastics black.

My first bike in the 90s was ysr 😂 then went up to a 636 but I just turn 50 so the zzr is more comfortable.

Insurance is $2k in Toronto!!! I'm also 25, with a crappy driving record, and I only pay almost $100 premium for a whole year w/ medical insurance from Progressive. You should just get a zx600j. A 250cc bike wouldnt even feel like a sport bike. Thats like scooter class right there. At least the zx6j/zzr600 will give u that 600cc adrenaline rush for a low price.

Hey! I sold this bike a few months back.
If you some riding experience (ie: Dirt or even MSF course)then I would say go for this bike. Parts are easy to come by since it was in production for so many years. You can always upgrade to the GSXR or a bigger CC bike once you gain some experience on the streets.
If you have no riding experience at all then maybe a smaller CC bike won't be such a bad Idea.
I ended up putting like 7000kms on the bike and ended up selling it for the same money.

hey! i pay $850 a year on the kawi. for comparison i pay over $2000 on the cbr1000 in the background. pretty big difference. my problem is that i have some speeding tickets on my record. even with the tix the zzr rates are good.

Dude you think exactly like me. Great minds think the same. I have a dirt bike yamaha ttr-230 and I love motocross but I have to sell it because Im not in my country anymore. Now I live in NJ and I want a ninja to go to college. People are telling me that I should get a 250r but I want a 600cc because I know that after a few months that I have the 250 I will want a bigger motorcycle. Nice video !!?

I checked out an '05 for a friend who is considering one of these as a first bike. It's a great bike but a handful for a beginner. There are definitely worse bikes for a newbie but I generally recommend keeping it under 60hp. Anyway its a great bike but I laugh in the face of anyone who calls this a "sport tourer". This a sport bike; you can 'tour' on anything if you're crazy enough but that doesn't make it a touring bike.

How about for a short guy like me? 5'6 145lbs would you suggest this bike add my first bike? I'm 33 btw lol

As far as the 636 for first bike, it is not so much the power but the weight that a new rider will find challenging. The Ninja 300's weight is very manageable and nimble. A new rider on a 300 will develop the fundamentals of motorcycling much quicker and better than on a heavier 600 series sportbike. Everybody drops the bike several times when they're starting to ride. On a heavier bike it will happen for sure and it will costly and dangerous.

just bought a zzr600 thats the same color and year. Just got it today and got it home right at dark so i was only able to ride it around the yard in the dark and since i dont have my motorcycle license i wouldnt dare risk goin very far from my home but so far it seems like a very good bike. Very comfy, not as hunched over compared to the gsxr which i really really want but i love it. It looks very good too, doesnt look like the ninjas that are similar year, it has a newer smooth sexy look and it doesnt have a super touchy throttle. Before this bike i never rode a street bike only dirtbikes and quad bikes. I took it off my truck and hopped rite on no issues at all, very easy to get acquainted with lol
oh and one thing to look out for, you say he kept it in his garage which is good but if he kept it in there with gas in the tank and didnt ride it for a while its probably gonna run like shit because its a carbureted bike and carburetors are attention whores
