Thank Jean. Yes, it's incredible really how quickly the road changed past the Jingling Gate, and I bet the inside has changed beyond all recognition from those days too!
a little piece of Heaven
Thank you for watching!
My Aunt was the wife of the manager of the Jingling gate in the 30s and early 40s. Called Ruben (tiny) and my Aunt Elizbeth Charlton or Bette as as she was called by my mam.
That would have been a fascinating time to run a pub. Listening to people talking about how the war was affecting their families and employment, and all the theories on what would happen next.
My sister was christened in the church on Stamfordham rd, my dad was from Fenham
I've done a couple of videos about Fenham, it was breathtaking to see what Two Ball Lonnen looked like just over a century ago
Yes ,I saw the videos of Fenham .I lived there from birth to when I left for college in Manchester 1975
My Aunt Elizabeth and her husband Ruben where Manager and Manageress at the Jingling Gate for a while. Name of Charlton.
I loved the very old images of the Jingling Gate - so different to the busy road it's on now!
