A light and hot spritz of soda ash helped me guide hydrophobic dyes. Red robot project mentioned heating the dye in the microwave helps get it in there. Nothing more devastating than misguided blobs soaking in the wrong spot after a laborious tye.😱 My first attempt at dry dying wound up in the bleach bucket of shame!😖 took me a good long while to get back on that horse and try it again, but the results are so worth it!😁

That's amazing, I think you can touch it up
It looked like a messy pain, was it hydrophobic because of the shirt, the prep, the way you tied it, the thickness of the dye or all of the above?

@@cachecow thank you! Still debating the exact plan but I do think I’ll touch this one up. It was extremely hydrophobic! A total nightmare to dye. Every drop of dye just sat on the surface for like 30 seconds to a minute before soaking in and if I put more than a drop or two at a time or if the piece moved before the dye soaked in, it would immediately roll off and end up where I wasn’t trying to put it or drip right off to the table below… it ended up taking over 3 (panic filled) hours just to apply the dye.
My thought right now is to use thickened dye painting to fix the black in the wings and then maybe scrunch it up and go over the remaining white spots with the dominant colors in those areas.

Yeah! That looked like a bit of trouble. I thought red fill were it's black, and blue on yellow but yellow would be easier
