My impression is that the studio accrued too much overhead far too early in development. Nightingale is one of my most anticipated games and I really hope that you guys can finish the game up, garner some greater financial success and bring some of those laid off back into the fold. The game is a LOT of fun and has so much potential in its current state.
They are ex Bioware people, they do know the overhead needed for a great game, but your absolutely right. Current climate is not easy, especially for high score games.
It's truly refreshing to see something like this. I know how tough it is to have to let folks go both for the company and the individuals. It's a sad business right now, but good to see a company who is honest about it rather than reverting to HR speak. Best wishes to all.
If anyone has been waiting/thinking about buying this game! You should do it! The newest update has a little over 150 hours of content and is much more structured than before. A lot of the issues have been ironed out and the game runs super smooth. Can't wait to see what this amazing studio and team adds in the future.
Much love to the studio and everyone who has helped Nightingale get to where it is today. Here's to hoping that the staff who were unfortunately let go are able to quickly get back on their feet. And here's to hoping that those still at Inflexion can realize critical success.
So sad, the game is amazing since the last update and it's such a shame it hasn't found its audience yet. Best wishes to all those affected - your hard work and talent shine through Nightingale, I hope we get to see more of that in whatever you do next. And to everyone still at Inflexion, keep at it! I love this game, and can't wait to see the next chapter. Bring on the Winter Court!
Creative feedback: Can we get a roadmap like other games have done. So we know whats actually being worked on. I would like to have an idea of what the game could look like in a month, or in a year. you just kind of served Us a loss (community wise) closing down sections will of course delay growth. we would like a win.
As someone with a Bachelors degree in game design it has been nothing but a uphill struggle I can some what understand the unfortunate reality like these. I have had to go back to automotive tech work because I simply cant get work do to the competitive nature of the positions, hopes and dreams wont feed my family and pay the bills. I love Nightingale and hope to still see this grow and flourish. Y'all are amazing and I hope Inflexion Games will grow exponentially.
I love Nightingale, it is such a fresh stlye and take on the genre. Sad to hear you didn't get the success you needed. Thank you for being up front and transparent about this.
This game is so amazing. Can't wait for when it's finished. The glamor table is exciting, the pets are cute -- can't wait for future of npcs, possible city building. This is becoming a dream game for me. So much fun!
I am rooting for this game! I don't really know much about how the industry works but no one can really control how things happen. Best of luck to all involved and I am excited to see how this game grows.
I haven't had time to go back into Nightingale in a bit. I just want to say it was a lot of fun and I look forward to getting back into it in the future. Like you I have responsibilities, but my heart goes out to to you for having to let people go.
I love this game. You have a wonderful vision. I even went out and bought the book that inspired it after you mentioned it in one of your videos. I’m hoping we all get to Nightingale. You’ve created quite the world. My 10 year old grandson is so proud that he’s a Realmwalker.
a BIG thank you for talking aobut it most sweep t under a rug it sad but not everything all ways a up hopefull one day you be back up to full size and can keep making this epic game till then :)
Thank you for being so forthcoming with this. I wish the people that were laid off the best and ofc i hope Nightingale will keep getting developed since it has amazing potential. God bless you
Just want to say that I have truly enjoyed the game ever since my first login during one of the closed betas. I know many decisions have been made that changed the gameplay but that's what games have to do, they have to evolve to keep players playing. My only advise is to find a good end game loop that keeps players engaged. Getting to the Watch has been fun, but keeping the fun going afterwards is the key to longevity. Best of luck to all the devs that lost their jobs. I hope you find a good home soon where your talents can be rekindled.
I wish Nightingale had a shop with skins or building packs or something like that, I would gladly get something. I really enjoy the game, the art is so beautiful.
wish you all best of luck. loved the game after the latest updates and i'm eagerly waiting for mid December when i shall have some free time to jump into the game again
One of the other really promising games I dod Alpha and then EA for was Dual Universe. They ended up changing management to someone who was more concerned about finishing quickly and making money, released way before they were ready, broke their promises, cut off and limited the potential of the game, and I think introduced microtransactions (I can't remember that one. I left a year after it went live. Still get nostalgia, but going back is a trap). I REALLY hope this studio/game doesn't follow that path. There's far too much potential for it to take the easy way out. If you need to, ask for community volunteers to help with some of the minor tasks, or even for volunteers to help with higher-level stuff. There are plenty of people who want the game to be great and are willing to dedicate time to it (just look at how many people dedicate time to number mashing and data gathering as players). Volunteers won't replace those who were let go, but they can help with some of the burden.
I have enjoyed the Halloween event, sad to see people go. I really would like to see some of the already existing assets ported over to the buildable items list to give the game more variety to bring more people in. Would also love to see the story realm bosses come back in the vaults to give us more bosses in end game. I think those two things kind of hold the game back. Building is just basic squares, no curves or angled tiles, no half walls to let us get some more fanciness in our builds, no big grand stairs or spirals, and not enough bosses at end game. I really hope the game can keep improving and you guys get the funding you need to keep at it.
Thank so much for all the hard work you have put into this game, and all the work you are still putting into it. It's one of my favorite games and I'm grateful to play it. It sucks to have to let people go. If you need to do some DLC for financial reasons I'd buy it day one .
My heart goes out to you all, you have created so much beauty and joy. To the depths of my being, hope things shift around and you get your dream team back. Annoyed that a bunch of whiners in alpha, who were unaware of the process review bombed the game with no regard of the livelihoods of those behind it. To err is human, to forgive is divine. Love you guys, nothing but the best to you all.
Much love to Nightingale and the teams behind it. I played for about 30 hours and had some ups and downs but ultimately put the game down. I really want this game to succeed. It’s unique and art style is incredible. The gameplay itself just felt too clunky for me personally to continue. All the best to the team at Inflexion!
I have so much respect for you guys. It's so sad to see this happen to the studio of gifted and kind people. I hope everyone affected finds new work soon, and Nightingale can continue to grow into the incredible game it's destined to be. Much love
Very sorry to hear about the layoffs. This video did absolutely nothing to give any context on what happened, but I hope it was cathartic for you. Looking forward to more Nightingale updates.
I was really looking forward to this game but when it came out ALL the reviews said it needs more time. Then there was the online only thing for single player. So I bought Enshrouded instead and that game is awesome. In retrospect Nightingale lost to Enshrouded and now they have lost the monentum. I hope there is room for both games and Nightingale can gain some new hype.
Очень жаль, что игра не привлекла достаточно количества игроков, чтобы обеспечить вас финансово. У вас очень хорошая игра. Надеюсь у вас хватит сил закончить её.
I hope they can improve the game cause my game has been nonstop crashing every time I sleep to skip the day and I have no idea how to fix it. Im guessing it has something to do with the game itself and most likely I cant play till its resolved!!!
I really love this game and this news is sad to hear for sure. I had hoped that if Icarus with as much of a convulted mess that games was and still is could find a sustainable player base, that Nightingale cwould sure do well. Also, I sure hope all these let goes aren't a foreshadowing of eventuial shut down. Player numbers were hopeful at the RR Update but now are back at an all time low. A real shame. I had hoped it could hang on but I fear it may be too little too late. This is yet again another example of an EA survival game that released far too soon.
Pros with Nightingale: ◇ Graphics, Sky Boxes and vibe ◇ Sound, music and voices ◇ Base building/styles ◇ Boss and mega-fauna Things I feel need to improve: ♤ Grind and balance ♤ Complexity of crafting ♤ Combat feels floaty ♤ Tutorial wasn't the best ♤ Add in the Nightingale City (No end point) ♤ Bores and Wolves are GITS !!! ♤ Biome variety needs more depth ♤ Better loot for exploring rather than crafting I found the game was a nice balance in world one. I went to world 2 and was underpowered and got destoryed... found progression for a casual gamer just wasn't there for me... Found there wasn't multiple ways to play... you craft and build bases and craft some more... Hoped I could just ramble... scavenge... pop up tents, loot chests via exploration and still progress... I don't have the time to lop down a million trees to build a lodge to craft a jacket... Feel the games needs more ways to survive and progress at a decent pace... and not a grind and 2nd job... think the game really only has appeal to crafting and survivalist players. My hope from the trailers was for an exploration, get your cards, open portals and use pop up small outposts just to catch your breath, and then back to exploring and trying to reach Nightingale... But when I learned that Nightingale wasn't even in the game I just lost all drive to play... what is the point ?
Many good points. I'll give my opinion on a few items. The initial grind is real. However, once you get Oberon's Bounty enchantment, the grind is really over. One shotting Trees, Ore, and Rocks is a game changer. The farming grind could be improved. This is my biggest grind atm. Complexity of crafting - i think the augments are still over done. There are several augments that do the same thing. The crafting machines still have a limit as to how many augments they can see and this causes unnecessary work to move augments in and out of range. Animals moving like Olympic runners.. yea still an issue. Better Loot for exploring - i get enough of it looking for secret boxes and just about every POI has at least something to grab, but fair point. Exploration is cool. I do appreciate the work the team put into building, the changes to boss fights, and the graphics. Overall, the game is fantastic....until it isnt. Meaning, the end game. Just running through endless portals in the Watch to gain T4 essences is not deep enough. At one point, i'll have an abundance of these and then what do I do? They have said that Nightingale is being planned out, but we shall have to wait and see if those plans are impacted. I imagine that is going to be a resource hog.
Main negative/constructive points Grind and balance are a bit of an arse in the beginning (like most other games), but once you progress and get Oberon's bounty and the relevant minor cards, it's crazy easy Yeah, crafting can be an arse and convoluted. Would be nice if it was streamlined, but at the same note it gives you options to play with when it comes to advanced crafting Combat could be a bit tighter, especially gun play, or maybe I just suck :D The tutorial has improved, plus they did localise everything really nicely in realms rebuilt. Nightingale is coming (see previous videos, plus the game is still in alpha, hence the lack of said city) Dude!!!!!!!, you should have been here early alpha....wait....are you still reviewing the early alpha build? :P Agreed, as stated by the devs, it's being worked on I assume you mean you want gear instead of components or materials, not a bad plan.
Yeah I agree with a lot of what your saying, I thought the game had multiplayer as well ? Did I get that mixed up? Like we were suppose to bump into other players randomly? Dunno if that is a scrapped feature or something And also crafting from storage instead of having to carry stuff in our backpacks to craft, has that been implemented yet? I got pretty board pretty quickly in the game unfortunately, feels empty for some reason. I kind quite put my finger on it, but the worlds feel vast but empty not “alive” The Npcs and creatures are like animatronics and lifeless ? Sorry I just can’t find the correct words to describe what I’m trying to say
@@joustjonny8999 The Watch is where you run into others.. But that is end game and where you go for Dungeon raids. Otherwise it is up to 8(?) player coop. So you can play with friends in your realms. Yes, you can craft from chest. You can always designate chest as ones you can craft and or build from, or neither. Lots of options to protect your higher quality mats
Sucks for the people involved that are losing their job. But the industry is in a pretty bad place right now with even big AAA studios getting shut down or huge layoffs. I also think the gamers themselves are in pretty bad spot right now with grifters on the rise everywhere and getting a platform and making things even worse. Hopefully you will recover from this and the game keeps going forward. Things were improving a lot since RR. Also due respect for Aaryn. This must have been a hard week, but still so open and communicative with the community is commendable and not many higher ups would do this.
The updates have been such a refreshing experience and I allready loved the beginning of EA, so I was hoping the flood gates would’ve opened for you, grim news but I hope 🤞🏻 it’ll turn out for best soon
Do you plan to help people who have lost their jobs find another one in any way? I ask because you might not have gotten the idea, as in the case of my studio which supposedly still exists, but consists of 3 people, including my own, I have not received any support from their side.
Lol this is all for show u let people go cause u can't afford to pay them or you choose not to pay them cause they were asking to much the industry hasn't changed at all it's the people that force it to change your excuses and whinieness is lame just stop oh boo hoo you couldn't pay them so u let them go such a selfish way to do things
Saying they were very talented but we have to let them go...is like you want to hurt them more after you fired them. Stop it, it doesn't make you sound any better, it makes you a phony. Just say its hard times and letting people go is unfortunate.
My impression is that the studio accrued too much overhead far too early in development. Nightingale is one of my most anticipated games and I really hope that you guys can finish the game up, garner some greater financial success and bring some of those laid off back into the fold. The game is a LOT of fun and has so much potential in its current state.

Was the closure of the UK operation down to the complexities / costs of operating internationally?
Moonwalking bears forever. 🐻✊😔

Early access should be for feedback, not for studio funding. This should never have happened.
Sorry to hear, gracefully handled. Wish everyone the best of luck!

Warframe was in a similar situation, and they managed to pull through. I really hope the same way happens for Nightingale too

Очень жаль, что игра не привлекла достаточно количества игроков, чтобы обеспечить вас финансово. У вас очень хорошая игра. Надеюсь у вас хватит сил закончить её.
it's a pity, because life is very harsh, I want to know more details about the dismissal !?

Laying off people while still in Early Access is a really bad look.

Sad but good decision. more lean.
Your EULA is draconian. I would never buy this game with the EULA in place, which is why i got a refund 8 minutes into owning the game.
