    As a Chessnut Go buyer, I have a unit that has a flickering light that shows up during gameplay. The company has not offered me an opportunity to exchange the unit after I sent multiple videos showing the issue and following their troubleshooting steps. As a matter of fact they closed my email stream, stating that they will no longer respond to my messages. I think potential customers should be aware that the company is not honoring their warranty policy.

      Thanks for the comment. That is really unfortunate. I haven't had any issues thus far, but I will keep an eye out for it. I just bought another board as well... so if I run into any issues I will 100% post a video about it similar to my DGT videos.

      Thanks for posting that. If the makers of the board actually play chess they should understand that good customer service is good strategy. I’ll hold off buying one myself, and will not consider it unless they improve their game.

      I have the same issue. Have not finished a geme without recognition issues. Tried to return it, but they refuse. Warning for everyone. Don’t buy this product. No rufund in the eu after opening, and the board has trouble with stable piece recognition during a whole game.

      It could be an electrical interference, and I also had this problem. Ensure that there is no device too close to the board or anything magnetic.

      @@mtol20 oh man that sounds brutal. I still haven’t had any odd issues and I’m testing the larger board. I see someone commented about interference. Might be worth a try.

    I've had it for around a month and I'm very pleased. I have a train trip from Ottawa to Toronto next month and I'll enjoy the 4 hours not having anything to do but play on my board. :)

      I agree. It’s been a hit wherever I’ve taken it. I’m testing their larger pro board right now but in my mind the go hits a sweet spot and it’s just plain fun to use. Glad you like it. I wish they had leagues for them online.

  • @MartinLambertDoc
    @MartinLambertDoc 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Thanks! I enjpoyed your review and have just ordered one. I already have a SquareOff Pro, which is now usable after a long wait for firmware updates. It still has quite a few bugs (mis-registration if you accidentally slide pieces, random flashing LEDs, occasional disconnects from chess server games and a particularly annoying issue where it only registers one non-intuitive way to do en passant captures). I think most of the issues come from its use of magnetic sensors (so it cannot tell a pawn from a knight for example, or a black piece from a white piece). Have you tested error handling for swapping pieces (i.e. putting a N back on square that should have a pawn on it)? I was also surprised they didn't flash the LEDs for error squares. Anyway thanks again and I'm looking forward to trying it out myself and also checking out your chess videos.

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. I think you'll like it. Mine has continued to be awesome and I've had no disconnects or oddities which I'm kinda of surprised at frankly. I like what chessnut is doing and I hope they are successful as we need more competition in the space. I'll check on the error handling, I did look at it initially and I recall it showing the error on the app but I'm not certain what the board displayed at this point. I do have another board that I need to review so I will take a look at error handling as it should function the same. Let me know how you like the solution when you get it.

    Chessnut can play tournaments and puzzles on Lichess? And probably also puzzles? Is it also possible two lichess player play on it? Means physical in the same room at the same board?

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes. It can do puzzles on lichess and chesscom in the app. It has a section under “study”. I find it takes time to setup so I tend to use a computer still and have avoided that but I might look to make a recording of it since you asked. I am not aware of two players connected to lichess but if you play an opponent in real life when the game ends the app imports to lichess to immediately analyze which is very cool. I find playing in real life against an opponent and having it recorded to be the best feature to analyze. I hope this helps.

    Thank you for the presentation, I received the chessnut go two days ago, I noticed that the surface of the chessboard is not perfectly flat, as if under the upper layer with the boxes there was something that made it slightly curve, is your chessboard the same? Thank you.

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment. I pulled it out to take a look. Mine does lay flat so there is no wobble or anything however it also isn't perfectly flat. After examining I believe the tight fit of the case may cause some pressure. Mine has gotten easier to use over time so I think there is less pressure and it's not something easily noticeable. For example I wouldn't have known if you hadn't mentioned this about yours as it's very slight so I didn't detect any issue. I would say if yours rocks or anything weird i'd call customer service but if it's a tight case it may not be an issue.

      @@tylerkacsor Thanks for your answer
      I'll try to be more precise in my question, sorry I'm using a translator to write, it's not really curves or major deformation, nothing is visible to the eye, just when I pass my hand over the chessboard I feel things underneath and therefore not perfectly flat and smooth like the Chessnut air I also own.
      Can you try to pass your hand over the chessboard and say if you feel the same thing or it's perfectly flat and smooth like the chessnut air.
      I'm in contact with Chessnutech who are asking me for photos/videos of the problem and I don't know how to do it since it's impossible to see the slight deformations on the photos.
      I just want to be sure if it's normal or not so that I can request an exchange from chessnutech.
      Thanks again

      @@lenovol6685 I can't see anything on my board. If I look away and run my hand around the board I do get the sense that I can feel something from time to time but when I look it seems perfectly flat. I wouldn't have ever considered this had you not sent the message so maybe I'm just predisposed to the idea. I can say on my end it hasn't affected anything.

    How long does battery last on a charge?

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It varies but I’ll say 8 to 10 hours for my usage. I’ve never used it straight through in one giant test. I usually play a rapid game or two and set it down a week or so and pick it up again. I rarely charge it.

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ll see if I can estimate it with Fritz somehow. Ultimately you can connect it to a variety of software so it can be as strong as your preferred engine. I agree that an estimate range would be nice though.

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cliffmashburn983 Unfortunately, I don't have any direct contacts and couldn't find this info. I would assume it would be stockfish given it's licensing but I don't really know for sure. The device itself will always need a phone or computer to pair to so it will work so if you want a stand alone I think they created another board with a tablet built into it. I haven't seen it in person but it looks pretty cool. It doesn't seem as portable though. Anyway, I'm going to try to test the strength of the app against fritz and maybe i'll put that info when I put out a new video on the chessnut pro.

      Even if you lost your internet connection, you're still able to play against any engine (in this world) of your choice, bluetooth or usb, mobile or PC or Mac, you name it. Or OTB with a saved game after it. Capacity: 4096 .pgn-s ( of the internal board's memory ).

      @@tylerkacsor Thank you Tyler! Your video was maybe decisive for me ordering the actual "Go". To calm myself will it actually arrive, I watched, e.t., listened to this video xy times. The main reason being you presented extreme number of information for a very short time in a convincingly casual manner. I'm low-intermediate and once got an invitation for a chess club nearby. Until then, I must try to play at least one game with my neighbour chess-fanatic to see how it fares OTB-PGN-Saving-wise.

      @@mtol20 Yeah, the problem still crops up on my GO occasionally. You are exactly right when you say, in essence, that they won't refund! All of my interactions with them resulted in a conversation AWAY from refund! And, after performing all their "tests", a new person takes over the communication, and puts you right back in the loop. REFUND, is not in their vocabulary! And to think, I was considering an EVO! But now, no way no how!!
