You are a wonderful Teacher!! Thanks, I am used to buttercream, but only have done one fondant cake. Might try more. They look like fun. Like playing with play dough.
Cake Craft World I would love to see what it looks like if you paint the lines, and then pipe over the painted line. would it give a 3d effect? also what type of edible paint did you use?
Clyde Day Piping the lines would give it a slightly more 3D effect. In the video we have piped on the cake so hopefully you can see that it looks slightly raised. For painting, we have used a paint by Rainbow Dust, see here www.cakecraftworld.co.uk/shop/products/Black-Edible-Food-Paint-by-Rainbow-Dust.htm or you could use a black paste colour, such as the one by Sugarflair www.cakecraftworld.co.uk/shop/products/id/SGFC102.htm and add rejuvenator spirit to enable you to paint with it, see here www.cakecraftworld.co.uk/shop/products/14ml-Rejuvenator-Spirit.htm Hope this helps!
***** Hi there - we used our own brand of fondant (or sugarpaste as it is also known) - have a look here www.cakecraftworld.co.uk/shop/products/Sattina-True-Red-Sugarpaste.htm Hope this helps!
I love Baking Hi there, We have used approximately 1kg of sugarpaste for Spidermans head/the cake and the body (on the board). You will need around 750g for the cake and the rest for the body. Hope this helps!
hi, it's a very nice video. i'm going to do a spiderman cake for my son's birthday and i was wondering if i could do the web with melted chocolate? cause i could'nt find edible paint. Thank you!
Magali Liberal Melted chocolate in a piping bag should be fine but let it cool for a while before using so it isn't too runny. It will also thicken while it cools. Or have a look on our website where we have a number of edible paint options, for example www.cakecraftworld.co.uk/shop/products/Black-Edible-Food-Paint-by-Rainbow-Dust.htm Hope this helps!
MsREDDEVIL2 It may be easier to use a pen if you are not feeling confident with a piping bag. We're sorry you found the black edible pen to be unavailable, however, we now have this one back in stock which you could use www.cakecraftworld.co.uk/shop/products/Jet-Black-Double-Ended-Edible-Ink-Pen-by-Rainbow-Dust.htm Hope this helps!
Hello - I love the look of this cake. Can you tell me the qty of the roll out icing that you need to buy for the red icing? (enough for the base and the cake?). Also, with the cake, did you use two cakes sandwiched together or just one cut in half? Thanks, Kirsty
Wine Stomp We have used approximately 1kg of red sugarpaste www.cakecraftworld.co.uk/shop/products/Sattina-True-Red-Sugarpaste.htm for Spidermans head/the cake and the body (on the board). You will need around 750g for the cake and the rest for the body. We have baked our cake in an oval tin and cut it in half but you could also sandwich two halves together, these would be quicker to bake. Hope this helps!

I've just purchased all the suggested supplies. Cake Craft World did not have the edible pens. Will this be easier?
MsREDDEVIL2 It may be easier to use a pen if you are not feeling confident with a piping bag. Also when you paddle the black royal icing to remove the air bubbles, did it stain your non stick board?
I love Baking No, the black royal icing didn't stain our board. Use a good kitchen cleaner on your surfaces afterwards to remove any residue.
Great job. you made it look easy :)

What is the royal icing recipe to pipe the webbing please?
Can I ask what size oval tin and board you used? They look like a perfect size for me to do the same? Thanks

Is sugar paste known as fondant ?
Bervin Hedman Yes, what we call 'sugarpaste' is also known as fondant or ready to roll icing.
