Ex...a felon being allowed to run for president The many ways government can be used as a weapon How easy it seems to be to takeover the country even before being sworn in Etc Shocking how little oversight 😮
I guess I need to be the one to point out the problem with Trump and the documents wasn't that he had him, it's that he engaged in a conspiracy to refuse to give them back.
I believe Jon Stewart missed the point on this issue. America has shown what is important to them, "SELF," and Biden is basically saying, "I'm taking care of my own." It feels like he's dropped the mic and is walking out, flipping the bird as he goes. Peace.
Biden turned the documents in voluntarily. He allowed his property to be inspected. Trump was asked several times to return the documents and lied when he said that he had turned them all over. If he had just given them up when asked this all would have blown over.
Killing his legacy maybe. The writers of this show completely ignore the severity of an honorable President acknowledging that the judicial branch, like the other two, are officially corruptible. Just laugh about it I guess, but this whole episode disgusts me.
the branding is wrong. It is not "law" per se, it is decency, honesty and strength of character that are the basis of democracy. We have laws because there are people who refuse to be decent or honest.
What?? 😂 Nah, it’s the law and the institutional powers granted by it. We may be the greatest in a line of democratic states that were openly built and strengthened via adhering to none of those ideals. We became the face of democracy during Jim Crow 😂
Democrats have destroyed the justice system. Using it to target rival presidents with bogus charges and pardoning their kids after they commit federal crimes. Refusing to investigate a president because he's too old to be a defendant.

Yeah, especially when that parent has benefitted financially from the bribes and kickbacks which that son has brought in from foreign governments and companies. It's actually really revealing that people like you say that 😂 just because you have abysmal standards and no accountability, doesn't mean everyone else is 🤗
There's zero incentive to stop it. You get a pardon, you get a pardon! Every elected official gets pardons from any crime, future past or present! Friends and family plans included! What could go wrong?
I don't think that connection matters. Biden didn't say "I won't pardon my son, unless I think the justice department is unfair." That's literally something Trump would say and has said, and Democrats have been rightly trashing him for it.
I think the more likely reason is because he was actually convicted and sentencing was scheduled. They had expected to get away with the cases being thrown out because the judge was quite liberal. But the judge saw the actual evidence and realized that was impossible, despite the pressure from Biden's DOJ top dogs.
Wouldn't have fit the false equivalency narrative he chose to go with here. Of course the treatment of his only surviving son happened bc he was Biden's son. Of course it would have been ridiculous to allow dt to make sure he continued that intentional cruelty And of course Joe Biden has tried very hard to help "other families" etc This was self righteous BS.
Forgiving his son ten years of crimes, 2014 - 2024. is SCANDALOUS!!!....see how Socialism inaugurated by Obama and crowned by Biden is so corrupt and destructive in the lives of Americans!!
Do you think maybe weaponizing the federal and state level justice system to try and use lawfare to force Donald Trump out of a democratic election might have contributed slightly to that perception?

In the grand scheme of things, pardoning Hunter is about as important as swatting a fly. People are dying all over the place, gun fire, pregnancies, suicides, fentanyl. What happens to millionaires does not seem very important.
@@mzaite Reducing the amount of corruption significantly is very hard in any country, because you are making enemies of very rich and thus powerful people. And also of course the powerful and thus rich people. In the USA, you also come up against the huge and perfectly legal corruption in the form of campaign contributions in their various legal forms with their various attached strings. I mean, that looks like an industry in its own right.
The issue is that if Hunter faced a significant sentence, he may have cooperated with prosecutors and exposed some of the corruption he was involved in. He was only in the position to commit such crimes due to Joe's corruption.

Then Joe shouldn’t have said (many times) he wasn’t.
Yeah, especially when that parent has benefitted financially from the bribes and kickbacks which that son has brought in from foreign governments and companies.

I am surprised Jon Stewart didn't connect Patel's nomination with Biden's decision to pardon his son.
Exactly
It would’ve robbed him of some of his righteousness. I mostly love him but sometimes he isn’t fair to democrats
Of course it would have been ridiculous to allow dt to make sure he continued that intentional cruelty
