It actually works out - I had this in the roomies household. Only some stoves and fridges count for the hobby 'cooking'. I did a kitchen that was mostly a bar with a mini fridge and the new countertop oven - those work for people who don'T like cooking
my biggest complaint right now is when the likes/dislikes negatively effect the room you're doing. i've had a kitchen reno where the sim hates cooking??? and i got 0 bc i included cooking things...in their KITCHEN... i've had a bathroom where they only liked patio decor, one where they liked a decor style and i didnt have any packs with that style... like i just wish the likes/dislikes matched the room and the game was smart enough to understand what packs you have/don't have...
wait- clients can legit have likes for a pack you do not own????

I dunno if “garden style” has a bunch of stuff in a pack I don’t own, but all I can do with that style is put a gnome, some toddler furniture and seemingly every outdoor plant from Sulani. Helpful when they want a living room renovation.
@@smudgerat9624 Garden style is almost entirely the backyard stuff pack. The same family had me do 3 different rooms in the exact same style. Their house looks terrible now.
You can do a kitchen but with a microwave etc instead of a stove, only things that pop up when you click ‘dislikes cooking’ count. And as for the patio bathroom, you don’t have to *only* use that decor style, just make sure to have some items and have the sims ‘check them out’ then decorate the rest normally.

does anyone else feel like there's not enough structure in this pack? whenever i've done a gig i never know which room/floor im supposed to be doing, and i dont think i should be having hours long convos with clients just for them to tell me they hate mischief...
I’ve done like 4 jobs and none of them have told me which room to do. It just says “room renovation” .. so I just end up renovating the whole house

@@marstheworm I agree .A lot of the things I learned about the sims I learned through seeing other people play. And that's fun but some things need to be made clearer especially because not all players speak english and/or are not used to watching streams.

You can “suggest different color” or “suggest different style” and even though the clues will change they still apply to the taste of that client so you can get multiple clues. I hope that helps 🙂 I always look forward to your videos

@@foreshadowing_panda3928 Sometimes they only have one decor like/dislike and one colour like/dislike. I find that’s more common when I visit Sims I’ve made myself before the update. When I book the gig I will go into that household the day before to add more likes and dislikes before I start the job 🤣 You can’t do that during the job though because it sends you home with no money!

I'm in the south in the states. Its always hot here and we are mostly use to it the past 3 days though I don't even wana leave my house or go outside. And I love the heat. So I feel yall this summer is brutal it was 103°f or 39.4°c yesterday I walked outside and walked back in for a shower 😂 it is not even July yet it will def be 112° this summer.
@@mindydiaz9015 i'm from southern europe, 40ºc is normal for like july/august. pretty sure last year some cities in southern europe reached 50ºc. it wasn't even that high of a heat, it was like around 30ºc, the issue was that it came out of nowhere. it was cold and rainy one week and the next it was boiling hot

It only got to 28C here. So not even remotely hot. Like just comfortably warm, still using my fluffy blanket when sat down temperature. And then the past few days it decided to change its mind and we've had to put the heating back on as its struggling to even get to 20C inside. :(

hitting the limit doesn’t mean anything; the game tells you the same thing as if you had clicked the option to not do the reveal event when you call the client back to lot

I just learned while reading the comments under Deli's let's play that in BuildBuy mod there are extra instructions on the left hand tab under the lot info, such as restrictions. There might have been something there you missed but your cutout blocks it.

A hint I've found is if your job is for the next day, have your sim go to their house the day before to do the talking stage so you have more time to get information out of them.
So when you only get like...."hates bowling, loves acting, loves robotics" for instance, if and when you have those items in the space, feature them when you do "check this out" show them the things they chose, makes the ratings better.

When the client gives you likes, include what they are telling you. Even if it doesn't make sence in the space you are reno'ing. Even just tossing something into a small corner of the room from their like list, it helps boost the score. And also, when you book a "room reno" you can pick ANY room. So if they tell you they like cooking, your best bet is to reno the kitchen. YOU get to pick the room, so pick one that works best with what info you have one them.
Penny shoulda been grateful for that reno, I know that if I had a room in my house made over like that I would be on the ground sobbing from joy

@@localtavernsluteplayer2182 they should’ve thought about how it places and made it so it doesn’t automatically stick into the wall. Yeah you can fix it but holding alt is just extra work and can be a hassle to place exactly where you want
It's because they place to the tile, do that they fit together nicely everywhere else. The walls are thick, so they take up some of the tile (grid), making it overlap with the object. All objects do that, unless they are smaller than one square on the grid. I also hate it, but it's the only option if you are doing the modular furniture, so that it will be able to snap together and stay on the grid.

I usually ask everyone in the household for their colors, hobbies and tastes so I’ll know in case I do their particular room or want to add something for everyone in the renovation. But in big households, I think it’d be impossible to have everybody’s likes and dislikes listed in the panel. I like that there are just a few that they make sure we hit without requiring 8-10 different things.
I could be wrong but don’t the likes/dislikes not shown in the panel still effect the gig? that’s the impression i’ve gotten from watching people play. if so then I think all of them should show in the panel, it’s unfair to grade you on things you don’t know (and I know some of that is part of the challenge but I think then it should show you a greyed out or locked icon so you’re at least aware there’s something you need to work up to and don’t know yet)
@@wlk3607 I’m not 100% sure. I’ve taken it as a bonus but not required. But I could be wrong, too! I did a living room renovation for the Partihaus and they didn’t all like the same colors, but the requirement was yellow and they were all happy with that. When I did their separate bedrooms, even the ones who had a different favorite color than the Sim who belonged to that room all loved the result. But the game is finicky, so I totally believe what you’re saying, too.
I bought the pack today and it’s the first time I’ve ever bought a pack this soon after release but I personally love it (apart from the glitches) the only annoying part is that for example I had to work for the caliente family and because you only get three hints it’s impossible to please everyone at once. So my only note would be that what got a few more options of what the sims want. But I ADORE the build and buy items , I’m doing a rags to riches play through and I KNOW I will be using this pack for it 😌
The more jobs you do the more options you get. I curreny have 5 per gig.

You technically get more the that. Even if the slots are filled, keep asking and you'll usually get more. I keep a notepad beside me when I play so I can write them down.

Townies only generate a single like OR dislike when asked about a specific topic, so asking for more decor opinions of the same person is a lost cause. It’s not the same as when we assign multiple likes and dislikes to a single topic for a sims we’ve made. Also, using three speed seems to mess with a lot of processes and routing, so try not to use it. It does help a lot to learn as much as you can about every single person’s likes and dislikes before renovating, but sometimes because of the random aspect of their likes and dislikes you can just get a shit situation where they only have dislikes and you don’t know what to do. It could really be improved by having at least one like AND dislikes per townie :/
This is true, and I have a note pad to take notes on what the household like since once they’re assigned they don’t change. I might get more styles they like or dislike, but one they love patio furniture, they always seem to like it
Some townies don't generate any likes or dislikes, too. Also, when using the decorator interactions, Sims are telling you household likes/dislikes and not Sim specific likes/dislikes. I figured this out by going back to families after I decorate for them and looking at them in CAS.
I’ve found that if you click on suggest a different style, color, etc while talking to the client it helps a lot

I think it’s because you didn’t use enough of the budget. Read somewhere that they dock you for that as much as for going over.
I absolutely loved the boho theme, it was incredible! I wish I could use that in my game. It’s tragedy that the client didn’t even look at the design. I hate when that happens 🤦🏽♂️
I kinda cheat. When I get a gig I go to the sims house the day before and ask everyone for favorite colors. If they don’t have one I take them into CAS and make their favorite color match their outfit. That way they actually choose those colors at the gig and it’s easy to remember.

@@michelleb2722 it works like a charm and it’s great if you like sim driven storytelling. Since they have outfits of whatever colors it makes sense that it would be their favorite color they wear. Or when you see a ridiculously dressed townie you can now make those dumb color combos all their favorites to explain the disaster wardrobe.

Even though you only get three-five hints, just keep asking what the Sims favorite color or decor. They'll still tell you it just won't be listed under the job. At least that's what I do, the game does encourage you to speak with everyone wether it shows up under the job or not.

Same!! I have failed so many for no reason, a lot of the time it fails right after agreeing to let them see it and you aren’t even able to show off anything or show the before and after, just automatically failed. It’s honestly so frustrating!
For the ginger hair situation, why dont you go half and half or dye the underside to see how it looks 🤷♀️

I love all things Boho and stay far away from “the devil’s lettuce” as you call it. Maybe it would smell like sandalwood incense and old books.
Devil's lettuce? She totally lost me at that bit. The closest I could think was she maybe meant coriander (which my family tends to call the devil's herb since we're allergic to it & it gets put in so much that doesn't need to have it in). But that's not really a room fragrance.

@@D0MiN0ChAn Oh. That's odd considering its one of very few plants which is just so useful in so many ways that people joke that it was put there by a god because its just too perfect. Hemp grows quickly, helps fix nitrogen and other nutrients into the soil, its fibres are useful for paper (grows quicker than trees & can make more paper per square acre than trees), fabric, rope, etc, the seeds are super nutritious and contain all 9 of the essential amino acids humans need in their diet, the plant can have cbd oil extracted which is great for reducing anxiety, pain management and there are promising studies for using it to treat mental health issues like bipolar disorder (its what I'm currently using because I had bad side effects from everything else & its completely stabilised my moods which has been a life changer!). Then when you've done all that, the chaff which is left over is a great animal feed. So you pretty much end up with no waste from growing it & its great for the environment as can be grown without fertiliser or pesticides (its naturally pest resistant) and it can restore areas which have been ruined by harmful processes which destroy soil quality. And that's not even touching on the female version which contains the thc component that stoners are after. Pretty much a miracle crop.
I find that the photos help a lot more tbh. I just count how many pics I take in each room and then do the same number again after. They put them in their portfolio which helps get you more gigs I believe? I also love watching the little montage they do.
So, I did a kid's room renovation and one of the kid's likes was fitness. So I just put a snowboard in and that actually was received well (I think). Although the fam was living in Sulani.
For anyone who doesn't know, you can click on the client likes and dislikes in the pannel while you build, and it will select the subgroups for you :-)
I loved what you did for Me Pizazz! But it probably would have been a good idea to give her a microwave for her "cooking" preference. I wish that they would show the paintings about cooking and snowboarding. I found my Sim clients really liked those if they had those "likes" but they don't show up if you click on that button.

When you get a decor option or color option from the client that doesn't match/suit you, you can go to the client and choose "Suggest Different Color" or "Suggest Different Decor." It's been really useful, but you have to have a decor or color option already suggested. If the slots are all filled with hobby likes (cooking, skiing and violin, etc.) then you won't get the option

I love that you're trying new things, however I wasn't able to watch this video because of the audio.
The mic sensitivity being so low caused the audio to dip and rise every time you moved even slightly away from the mic, or spoke a softer tone at all. I scrubbed through the video and couldn't find a part where it /wasn't/ doing it. I appreciate all the hard work you do and I hope you figure the new mic out and fix the issue!

Little tip about the Shure SM7B mic you’re using, have it pointed towards your mouth and try to maintain close proximity. If you feel the need to get loud, you can lean back and holler to your hearts content
I was doing dream home decorator and the lot I was renovating was an apartment and istg I could not find a way to get up to it I couldn't enter the lot so I just had to quit
There is a glitch with apartments at the moment (not related to the pack). I cant visit my sims parents because they live in an apartment :(

That happened to me when doing a gig in the Paranormal career before Dream Home Decorator came out. It's not related to this pack in particular, it's an older problem

The most important thing I've seen people doing is the "suggest..." conversation options! They can replace the frustrating preferences with more helpful ones sometimes!

Ok, I have an almost perfect reputation in this game pack and I have some pointers. I think the key to understanding what a Sim needs in a renovation is understanding how the new likes and dislikes work. You can ask a sim their favorite color but some of them don't have one assigned! (That's why they don't respond) Sometimes they don't have a favorite but they have a color they hate and will respond with that even if it's not in the design wish list. This goes for all the design categories! Sometimes they don't have a decor preference! Sometimes they just passionately hate some decor. For every sim in the household ask 1) favorite color 2) ask about hobbies 3) ask about favorite decor 4) ask to see mood board 5) ask to see inspiration The last 2 will fill up the renovation wish list and the 1st 3 might as well but otherwise it's good info to know everyone's preferences bc they can actually clash with the design wish list and does effect the results.
Here's a renovation example: I did a renovation where one sim's favorite color was white and one sim's favorite color was blue but he also hated white! The white color was also part of the renovation requirements/wish list and the blue was not. So what I did was I included half white and half blue everything. The Sims got into a literal fist fight but They both got their preferences represented in the build and so I got my reputation and I got paid for the job. The key here is to include all the household Sim's preferences even if it's not part of the requirements so that everyone is happy even if something they hate is included. Also anything outside of their likes and dislikes list is fair play as long as the majority of the renovation is stuff they like and not too much (or any) of the stuff they hate.
Also the renovation wish list/requirements are random and can be different every time and is pooled and randomly selected from all the household sim's preferences. If you want to see what I mean - save your game right before you go into the renovation. Go to the lot, get to know each sim and each slot will get filled up. If you exit your game without saving and repeat above steps you will literally get a different wish list/requirements list. If your reputation is high enough you can suggest a different decor or color and it will change in the requirements list but those are still like and dislike preferences someone in the household has bc it's part of their permanent Sim personalities. If you are working with a large Sim household you don't even have to get everyone to like the renovation but the majority of the sims in the household have to like the renovation in order to get paid and get good reputation.
This also means that single Sim households are actually harder game play because you have to get their renovation just right.

My unsolicited opinion: do it!!
My only suggestion is to make it sort of a rosy, blusher red tone rather than the classic Weasley-esque ginger red. I think that would work well with your vibe and skin tone (plus, you looked great with pink hair, so having a ginger tone that’s rosier would make sense, imo). Or an all out, deeper auburn shade a la Lana Del Rey in 2016. You would be gorgeous with a shade like that, I think. I’m a rather pale ginger myself and I have more of a strawberry blonde hair, so I think that would look lovely on you too!
I only say all this because I have a blonde friend who wanted to go ginger but she was really nervous about it because she wasn’t sure which shade to choose. We talked it over and picked some different ideas, and that helped her decide. I have no idea if you’re struggling to pick a shade or if you’re just not sure if ginger is right for you, but I hope those ideas may help you decide. Regardless, you do what makes YOU happy! Whatever you choose, you’ll look stunning 😘

A sneaky trick I’ve learned with likes and dislikes is BEFORE you pick the job, go to manage worlds and enter that family in CAS. I personally just hit the randomize button to make sure the sims have 1 like/dislike per category, but you could put more thought into it and hand-pick their preferences. Then, go back to your sim and accept the job from that family. That way, when you’re on the job, you’ll get an more even distribution of likes/dislikes amongst the decor, color, and hobby categories. Hope that helps!
It's so tedious. I don't know why EA didn't update their own sims to add likes and dislikes, or at the bare minimum randomize all the premade and spawned townies. Why EA? Why?

I had a client who gave me loves garden decor, cooking, and hates island decor but they lived in an island living house. I decorated the inside but didn’t bother with the windows or doors since it would’ve made the exterior look ridiculous. But I guess I should have Anyways because I got a failed score. So dumb

It’s so hard to perfect gigs unless you cheat and sneak a peek at their likes and dislikes in CAS. Even then, sometimes the game just doesn’t generate likes and dislikes that make any sense or have any effect on the room.

Oooh - tanning is actually always bad, even if you're wearing sunscreen! Your skin is damaged and that's why it's changed colours. I used to think that was just if you got a sunburn, but it's not the case. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours if you're outside (or in front of a window). Not just when it's sunny, by the way - the UV rays still get to you even if there's a cloud covering the sun! It may look good while you're young, but tanning ages your skin .-. Just use self-tanner body lotion or something. Or ~embrace~ your paleness c':

i got a kitchen reno and the guy loved black, and the other family had other decor tastes and whatever, so i do a literally all black kitchen, accommodating the other family members likes as well, and everyone else loved it, BUT HE FUCKING HATED IT!?!?

For Penny's appartment I probably would have used the Snowy Escape pack. Lot's of snow boarding stuff and then a bunch of upgrades to the kitchen. Eliminate anything suburban decor.
For sims that like patio or garden- plants. Add. Them. Plants! Anything outdoor related.
Honestly, the game only adds a few likes or dislikes to a sim so I enter cheats and add more. It helps a lot.

Theres a bug I run into where the reveal just ends and no one looked at anything.
I had that and then I updated my script mods (actually, not just some of them) and it fixed it

this is my exact problem too; people tell me to ask the sims’ favorite decor and color using the friendly interactions but unless you’ve spoken to that sim “in the wild,” they don’t generate likes/dislikes evenly amongst the categories. In the wild, a sim will generate 1 like/dislike per category. In the career, they are random, so you might just get a sim who only has hobby preferences, and no color or decor preferences. And if they don’t have any of those preferences, then the social option does not pop up.
i had my sim marry one of the nishidakes so that last name became a huge part of my sims family legacy 😂
