It wasn't about just gai though he was apart of it, 4 Jonin is still a whole other level then 3. Team work and all just goes through the roof especially with another versed in dealing with sharingan. In the end it had nothing to deal with anyone, he just wanted someone to know he was very much still a threat.

When he was teaching him the Rasengan (Naruto's birthright) he demanded Naruto to PAY him. And even took Naruto's entire money to blow off in brothels. Is that a great teacher to you? He then recommended them for the chunin exams when they weren't ready. They barely scrapped by with their lives, they only survived because Lee, Ino-Shika-Cho and Kabuto came to their rescue. They were all individually weaker than most people in the exams and barely moved on to the finals (Sakura couldn't even move on). What did he do after? He took Sasuke away for private lessons and left Naruto with the weakest Jonin in the village who not only hated him but had nothing useful to teach him. Yes Sasuke was gonna face Gaara but Naruto was gonna face Neji (someone whom Kakashi confirmed to be way stronger than Sasuke) who almost killed his own cousin, also someone who can kill with a single strike. The gap between Neji and Naruto was way bigger than the gap between Gaara and Sasuke. He then taught the Chidori to someone as unstable as Sasuke. He didn't stop there, he admonished Jiraiya for teaching Naruto what was his by birthright (Rasengan) despite the fact that he taught Sasuke the Chidori. In the entire part 1, he taught Naruto and Sakura tree climbing ONLY. In part 2, Naruto had to see the gap between him and Sasuke for Kakashi to actually teach him. And even then, he was half-assed about it and Yamato had to carry him and do his job for him. He didn't teach Sakura anything else other than tree climbing. Naruto had pathetic teachers, he only got that far because of his grit, no-die attitude, determination, stubbornness and pure resolve. The only people who actually taught Naruto and were interested in his education were Fukasaku and Bee.

The Blue Ball jutsu (not naming it yet) is NOT a wind style jutsu, Guy could NOT diff "everyone" with his ultimate power because of the conditions behind it (trying my best not to spoil), and Itachi was NOT the strongest Uchiha (he's close tho). The comments remind me of why I avoid reading Naruto fanboys. Itachi is a great character, as are Jiraiya, Kakashi, Guy and many others. But they can't stop arguing who's the strongest and keep getting into discussions with the most nonsensical arguments ever. And while some are very cultured and get their info from the novels as well as the manga, most are anime-only people who can't for the love of all READ the subtitles. The Blue Ball jutsu (not naming it yet) is NOT a wind style jutsu, Guy could NOT diff "everyone" with his ultimate power because of the conditions behind it (trying my best not to spoil), and Itachi was NOT the strongest Uchiha (he's close tho). Who wins a battle depends on many capabilities and terrain, not only "strOnGEst juTsU xdxD". Edgelords are starting to assemble in the comments with Itachi's appearance, and I can't wait for the other Hokage namedrops so that more Narutards arrive. And no, I'm not the expert lore master, but I can at the very least read what the author wrote. Naruto and most of Shippuden were great, but gosh the fandom is like a religion (that's definitely not a compliment).
