    I am in Pai right now, one of my favorites in all of Thailand. The walking street is great but what I really like are the mountain views, this town is nestled among the mountains and it has an amazing atmosphere.

      @@Chai_Travel I bet people are selling weed all over the place in Pai now that it is legal. Is the weed cheap there? Any good?

    • @Chai_Travel
      @Chai_Travel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ey Bobby, You’re right! Even the grocery store is selling it. I have to say I’ve only smelled it and had a good look at it. I use to smoke in my teenager years in the Netherlands but I haven’t smoked any weed for many years 🤗 it smelled good but it the weed I’ve seen here so far doesn’t look very strong. I hope it helps :)

    • @truckerfromreno
      @truckerfromreno 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chai_Travel I'm sure the quality will increase once they get the first few legal crops done. I imagine the prices will be very little for weed in the coming months. Cheers.

    The "big white Buddha" is at Wat Phra That Mae Yen - a few years ago the main wihaan burned down, which was a major shame. It's one of my favourite places to go and sit for a while. I always prefered the smaller temple building when going to offer my respects. Don't miss out on the reclining Buddha figure too.
    I have fond memories of when the Buddha was being constructed - to the side of the steps was a rail track to carry materials up to the top, and at the end of the day the workmen would pile into the little trolley and ride down (sometimes rather quickly!).
    I've never had to pay to access Yun Lai viewpoint - either it's a new development or they accept me as a local now (or they all recognise my wife as one of their old teachers and wouldn't dare ask her to pay) :D Likewise, never paid at the Hot Springs . . .
    I guess 20 years of part-time residence & acting as teaching assistant in the local schools has a few benefits :D

      @Chai_Travel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sameebah 😁 thanks for your little story there 😊 it’s nice to hear you’ve some nice experiences from this town. I actually had to miss out on the reclining Buddha this time but I’ll definitely go on my next visit thanks to you 🙏🏼 cheers 🏆

    Chai! Last time I went to Pai was in 2007, I remember it was freezing cold during the night, but very nice vibe. I just saw the latest vlog of Forrest Lee and it really made me think: If I decide to come back to Thailand I will certainly look at Chiang Mai for a good option to live. Any area of Chiang Mai in particular you recommend to live?

    • @Chai_Travel
      @Chai_Travel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers mate! But back to Thailand? Did you leave or are you planning to leave? There are so many different cool areas. I think you should come here and check it out for yourself about a month and then decide to live somewhere for a longer term. It’s not so big as Bangkok so you’ll get a good idea of the different areas. I like Suthep area because there are a lot of younger people. I’m staying now in Sathapon witch is quiet local but close to the busyness. There’s a lot to explore “Exploring Chiang Mai” 😜

    • @ExploringBangkok

      @@Chai_Travel Thanks for the information. Haha yes, I'm in Netherlands now for a bit. Rainy season is always a bit depressing, like winter time in Netherlands. As for exploring chiang mai, haha no, that won't happen but maybe I'll become your competition and will start a 'Exploring Travel' channel, but then of course I also need a small funky microphone 😜 haha, but no, in all seriousness, I've reached my goal with my channel (10k subs and some evergreen content people will always want to watch). So as for my current channel it's a done deal 😁 On to a new adventure and maybe a new TH-cam channel. Haven't figured it out yet.

    I plain to visit Pai in a few months and plan to travel in the northern region but i don’t know how to ride a motor scooter 😭 do the people at the rental shops teach you or is it basically a sink or swim kind of thing?

    • @Chai_Travel
      @Chai_Travel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey ey, they will explain you quickly if you ask them to, and many people ride without experience. In fact I learned how to drive as well like that (in 2011). I don’t think it's very safe to do though and I advise you to take a few lessons if you're able to do to. The Thai roads can be quite dangerous. Or, find someone (like a travel friend) with a lot of experience while you here. There are many friendly people in Pai
