    Hi Art, another beautifully presented vid : ) I notice in some shots you have a wonderfully smooth, Steadicam type movement of the camera. Do you use any special equipment? Or is it a trade secret ; )

    • @ArtThomyaJourney
      @ArtThomyaJourney  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris. Thanks for watching! It 's quite far as Mae Hong Son is on the east side of Chiangmai, next to Myanmar, so we may have to drive 5-7 hours. If you go to Mae Hong Son, I suggest you explore many districts of Mae Hong Son. There is so much to see, esp. Pang Ung - my favourite. It is the Royal Project initiated back in 1985 by King Bhumibol and the scenery in the morning is breathtaking. Pai district is beautiful (as you may have heard). Stay close to nature and learn the way the local people live. I'm sure you'll have a great time there.
      If you go to Chiangrai, hope this video is useful for you >> th-cam.com/video/IW3uNtNecN8/w-d-xo.html

    As always, good vlogging, Art - will however add, that the Japanese thing might offend your viewers accustomed to the view that Japanese, as with German, "aid" during WW2, is somewhat "controversial...."..:-).....obviously.....:-)

      Space Shadow Thank you for watching and for your kind message :) I’d rather say that this channel aims to promote ASEAN cultures and tourism by local people, and of course, cultures will be involved with history. I would like this channel to be free from politics, religions, and all controversial issues. We cannot change the history, but we can take it as our lesson to make a better future together, with peace and harmony. :)

    I did the Mae Hong Son Loop by bicycle and I visited the so called Thai/Japanese friendship memorial in Khun
    Yuam, financed by the Japanese. This is nothing but a glorification of Japanese militarism. Maybe you should learn a bit more about the atrocities of this war before you recommend this as a sightseeing spot. The so called friendship was
    forced upon the Thai people, your narrative sounds very naive. Unfortunately the Japanese have not learned their lesson. When you enter the museum you are greeted by a big picture of former prime minister Hideki Tojo and the flag of the rising sun radiating over the rest of Asia, two symbols of Japanese militarism.

    • @longisrung
      @longisrung 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some Koreans and some Chinese insist on the flag of the sun emerging as a symbol of Japanese militarism.
      Perhaps it seems to have made such an assertion reflecting the current political situation.
      The United States and UK who seriously fought and settled will not make such an assertion.

      Well, we never wanted to be involved with the war in the first place, neither with allies or axis, but the situation between THEM forced us, a small country who wanted to be out of conflict, to join.
      The friendship between Thailand and Japan in Khun Yuam started from Thai villagers in Khun Yuam helped treating the injured Japanese soldiers out of empathy, so the Japanese soldiers gave us those artifacts in the museum to the villagers in return, while the Japanese government also promised Thai government to treat Thai people at the equal footing, which they did as promised. We never got treated badly by Japanese military at all, neither by the allies.
      On the other hand, Thai people also helped POW in Kanchanaburi (where the Death Railway & Bridge of River Kwai located) by giving them food and drink secretly (Boonpong Sirivejjabhandu was the most famous because he worked together with Weary Dunlop, an allies), while some of them also helped some POWs escaped from the Japanese military, so after WW2, Royal Australian College of Surgeons helped us by creating a scholarship called Weary-Dunlop Boonpong Exchange Fellowship especially for Thai people to go study in Australia.
      So please do not misunderstand us, we neither side the allies nor the axis, but we sided with humanity who needs help. That word of "glorification of militarism" is not what we are. Thank you.

      @@polawattantiransee3410 I do not blame the Thai people, they had no choice. But I blame the Japanese who glorify their imperial aggression in this so called Thai Japanese friendship hall. So don't recommend this as a sightseeing spot. "Friendship" that is disguised aggression should not be misinterpreted afterwards. The Japanese don't understand this.
