I just got a new EMP 40 today, this is a great video! Thanks for posting it. I couldn't decided between the Kimber Ultra CDP II or the Springfield Armory EMP 40. I think I made the right choice picking up the EMP.
First...thanks for posting video, well done! I purchased this gun about 6 months ago and hasn't had one FTF or FTE, shot well over 500 round thru it (9mm). Shoots like butter, sorry to hear one guy had problems. You will love this gun for daily carry, it shoot as well as it looks. Thanks again for the post, SA makes several great weapons. I have a TRP, and that too is a great gun out of the box.
Nicely done video, thanks. I'm just 10 years late seeing it. I have the EMP4 in 9mm and really love the pistol. I like how mine takes down a bit better than this one, all you need is a paperclip, no "store-bought" or special tool needed, although you do get a specially bent piece of spring wire with the pistol as a takedown tool. I stuck mine in the box so I wouldn't lose it, I have paperclips lying all over the place. Springfield has done a very nice job on these two compacts, I have a full size Springfield 1911 also and knew these would be good quality.
Picked up my EMP 40 cal today had a few FTF probably my fault put 100 rounds through it and had less of a problem it's somewhat heavier then the 9mm but I really like it so far Thanks for the video Al
I’m about out of patience with my SA .40 1911 EMP. The recoil spring has always been ridiculously tight, to where it’s super difficult to even rack the slide. I just took the gun apart following your video and now the spring won’t load back in underneath the barrel, because it’s too stiff. The little plastic part that holds the spring down flew off while I was disassembling it. I’m at my wits end.
Thank you so much for this video I just picked this gun up yesterday and brought it out and it was jamming like crazy I was so excited to go out with it that I totally forgot to pre lube and everything but I was like oh man how do you take this thing apart again thank you and now she is nicely lubed up
thanks for the vid helped me break down my brand new champion operator after my first day at the range. they really make a great accurate clean shooting gun. just gotta find good ammo to shoot through it. those PMC bronze are real dirty im gonna try some winchesters or federals see how they shoot
Gabe20027, first shooting experience didn't go as well as I had planned. Many stovepipes and fail to fires on every couple of shots. (I had to post a video). It's too bad because this gun really is accurate. I hope SA can repair it and get it back to me as soon as possible.
I agree except when it's new. The recoil is so tight at the beginning it makes it difficult. After the spring loosens... I agree that you don't need it.
Very nice gun, I just put a deposite on one at my local gun shop. I am curious, are those full size grips on that gun, it feels like a full size but I am not sure, if they are I would like to order them for my other 1911s because they are slim.
I've had one for a couple of years and love to shoot it, however I bought it as a carry gun but I don"t trust it that far. So far I've replaced the grips and discovered the inserts for the screws are only good for one use ( replaced them with after market ones) Then I discovered the bullets' are chewing up the frame below the feed ramp on the barrel , I sent Springfield a picture of this but never heard back. Also called Springfield about the extension on the magazine which makes the gun print when carried and asked if they could make some that fit flush. They replied they would never do that. Last but not least they cut their sight grooves at a different angle than anybody else, and claim they will void your warranty if you have the frame recut so you can mount night sights.
@@jonathanvitela2208 Had a gunsmith silver solder flat floor plates on 2 mags. That worked like a charm. Had it out last week and it had 2 failures to feed, would not rust it to carry. I bought a S&W shield, functions every time.
Great explanation here... The key part is leaving that little "tool" in until the slide is put back into place. The recoil spring on my new sa 1911 was as tight as $#%#@. I initially tried doing the breakdown without using the tool.. Big mistake
Great video - but I wonder if I'm missing something? With my EMP (9mm), after placing the breakdown clip and removing the slide stop - the slide won't come off. It blocks on something and I cannot figure out what it is....Have you seen this type of issue?
This little gun is beautiful in appearance and function. The gun is expensive because it is a once in a life time purchase. "Will" it your grand children.
The little spring clip tool thing isn't really necessary. I've never seen one for my other 1911 style pistols, and I've been cleaning them without one for years.. You simply don't need it as long as you have everything lined up properly. I personally wouldn't be sand papering my feed ramp either, unless you're getting a constant feed issue, which is probably a magazine issue anyway. It's your gun, do with it what you will. Very good job explaining it to someone that has never messed with a 1911 though.

Best dis and assembly to date in youtube much appreciated!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very awesome communicator. Thank you.
Thank you for the great video! I love my EMP .40!
GREAT video! I clean my EMP after every shooting. I now know what that pin is for. Thanks
Thank you for a wonderful demonstration. Sorry you had the sniffles.
Thank you for posting this video, very informative!
Excellent!! Concise but hit the key steps.

Well done, thanks for posting it. I just purchased the .40 cal, trying to learn all I can before it arrives.

I've seen the little plastic tool on eBay a few times. Currently under "SA EMP 3" barrel 1911 takedown tool" in case anyone loses theirs.
Nice job

THANK YOU!
Just got mine...Love it!
Kool gun thanks
That last part is tricky. I had to use a small dental pick to move the spring loaded catch in before I could get the slide stop in correctly.
Great video, thanks for sharing !!
So, what happens if you remove your slide without placing the tool on the spring?
Very good video!!
great video, thank you
Hey man,you have any suggestion for iwb?
Could that teeny allen wrench be for the trigger to set the trigger pull lighter/heavier?

I possibly will be purchasing this today. Thanks for the video. I just subbed to you. If I do purchase I will perform a table top review.
That thing right there is called a barrel link or toggle.
BRAVO!
Thanks!
Weird that mine has the key lock, but didn't come with keys.
YOU STILL KICK AZZZ!!! I got the same EMP. Uneccesary drama excluded.
you don't actually need to use that little tool to disassemble it. it will come apart like a normal 1911
Use the tool. This gun requires use of the plastic insert to tear it down.
@@ernestwilson6393 no it does not, I take it apart and put it together without it.
I agree, when I first tried to do it without it, I was surprised to find out that it is not needed. I am still looking for a reason to use it.

Cool video! Definitely makes up for the crappy "manual" that came with the pistol.

You can purchase a new spring house magwell from Smith & Alexander to fit your EMP. I did this and installed it to make my mag more flush.
Jonathan Vitela can you please send me the part number for the emp thank you

Where do get that tool
@@roneskow1254 It's in the little plastic bag that comes with your 1911. At least SA provided it with my EMP
What magazine
Springfield Armory EMP Cleaning 1 of 2
It’s that the two keys and a big Allen wrench only come with the EMP 40 but not the 9mm right?
Cause my 9mm didn’t have those two tools
Did you get an answer here?
Where do you buy the keys
Call Springfield customer service

singletracker did you remember to remove the magazine? The slide will not come off if you don't remove the mag. M8ght help.
What kind of sandpaper did you to polish the feed ramp?
What is the kind of sandpaper u use to polish ?
How's the reliability with this one? I've heard mixed reviews. I'm looking at this pistol pretty hard right now as an EDC replacement for my XD Sub
How do you feel about the EMP today?
This little gun is beautiful in appearance and function. The gun is expensive because it is a once in a life time purchase. "Will" it your grand children.

FYI, you don't really need that little black clip tool to disassemble the gun. I've done it many time without it.
that version is no longer in production

Suggest learning the parts of your gun!

Blow your nose before filming! Sheesh!
Rotaman Hahaha
I can't watch, or listen to this. Buy some Sudafed instead of swallowing your snot. What a maroon.
get a glock 19, no tools needed to break it down
How do you feel about the EMP today?
When I bought mine, I was happy. I cc my 40 SW EMP everyday. Some times I cc my Colt 1911 Government and my EMP 40 SW. Why? Capacity.
