      City planners planned most communities into self sufficient ones that have houses factories shops etc. in a relatively short radius, so people don’t have to drive a ridiculous distance to get to their work. That changed in the 80s, I assume. As privatized businesses concentrate in city centres.

      Not really, after the war the abstract expressionist movement began from the nihilism that was birthed from the outright heinous-ness of the war. Nihilism not only manifested itself in art but also in western culture as a whole in the following 5-10 years.
      There’s optimism on the micro scale as people were glad they survived a war but the Soviet government was in shambles trying to get the agricultural industry back on its feet and rebuilding infrastructure.

Even Putin doesn’t want communism again, economically you can’t compete with the USA when you go back to communism and the government gets extremely bias and doesn’t let people speak out. With this video and the one about China in the 50's, I don't think we're nostalgic for living in these times and places, as living conditions were garbage in both areas at that time, I think we're nostalgic for the ability to have optimism and a sense of purpose. Today, we live basically for the sole purpose of making other people rich, by working and consuming, and conditions seem to be getting worse due to corporate greed. These people in the video, were given the purpose of creating a socialist society and building up their nation. In 1950's America, they at least had the fact that quality of life was rapidly getting better.
    Today, we have neither a great national purpose, nor the promise of future wealth.

  • @NoreenHoltzen
    @NoreenHoltzen ปีที่แล้ว +5

    They had every reason to celebrate Stalin and USSR and to be proud after just recently defeating Fascism. It would be so exciting to be there. Everything was developing so fast and there was enormous optimism from the 1920s, until Hitler started to plan his attempted invasion. We have USSR to thank every day for ending racism (80% of the German army was defeated by the Soviets). I would be writing this in German instead of English if USSR had not stood up to Hitler. USA only came in after USSR had already defeated Fascism. And for that matter, USSR had just about completed negotiations with Japan to end their aggression, thanks to China taking care of them prior to that, and yet despite it being 100% unnecessary, the US did their experimental bombing on Japan just to see how well their weapons would work.

      Putin is just a product of Stalinist's degenerated bureaucratic party sictatorship state. Real Marxism only promoted Proletariat Dictatorship, not elitist party dictatorship. Stalinism also had responsibility for led the "reformists" and the cancer neoliberal capitalism took over. You see it. Rich resources but overran countries like Russia and Vietnam today, share the same ex-Stalinist, then pro-capitalism, with private billionaires-state cooperation corrupted, exploiting workers, destroying the country, if you fight for workers's rights, you are considered a threaten to the bureaucratic governments. Million Vietnamese and Russian women work as prostitutes and sexual slaves in the world. Entire 39 victims were from Ho's homeland. Shame! Very selfshame! Trotsky was right. People must stand up with no fear! Down with Stalinism and capitalism!

Попытка вернутся к сталинской модели *легкой* промышленности была проведена в начале перестройки, но окончилась провалом в связи с отсутствием серьёзного капитала у кооперативов, таким образом преодолеть дефицит не удалось.
