Thankyou ! Two of my Grandparents anD my Mum and Dad are buried in the graveyard. I enjoyed your respectful, gentle comentary, and the chance to see the Church where I went to Sunday School. Lots of memories evoked.
Thank you for taking us on your stroll through the churchyard. It is indeed a beautiful and tranquil space. You mentioned a few names: Lady Nelson. She was Admiral Nelson's wife. She and her then husband had made a brief visit to the town in the early married life. Many years later, following the Admiral's affair and marriage to Lady Hamilton, Lady Nelson came to live in Exmouth. There is a tragic, but also a story of family devotion associated with her sepulchre. You mentioned the name Nesbitt. That was her son by her first marriage. He was a RN officer and in Paris with his wife and family, when he died along with his sons. Lady Nelson had her son and grandsons brought to Exmouth and they were buried at Littleham. She chose to be buried with them . The reference to senior army and navy officers is a telling reminder of how popular Exmouth was to retire to. Admirals and Indian Army officers are very numerous, both at Littleham and at Exmouth's other parish - Withycombe, with its churchyard at St.John's- in-the-Wilderness, also very old.
Benjamin Butter Bastin was a very well known name, one of a family associated with the hotelier and inn trade. He took over the Marine Hotel, on the Beacon; later adopting the name Beacon Hotel; later still Royal Beacon. His mother had at one time been the proprietor of the most important town centre hotel and inn, The Globe.
Thank you for doing these. Here in America we don’t have graves that are as elaborate and beautiful as the majority of these are. These videos are very interesting and beautiful.
Great Video As Always Did You Know That There Are A Lot Of Graves In Littleham From The Battle Of Trafalgar, And Also Of Admiral Nelson's Mistress Lady Hamilton. I Have A Few Ancestors Buried There Also. Thanks For The Great Video.
I just love that you read them out, they are no longer forgotten!

I think my former housemate's gravestone was there, as that was where his brother and parents stone was. (The Vince family).

That’s absolutely huge for a church graveyard. Crampacked with very interesting history no doubt.
