Great Video yet again!! I used to live in Austin, Texas and I highly recommend going threre! It's colorful, friendly, and has FANTASTiC food and culture! Oh, lots of outdoor hikes and beautiful scenery too. :)
I camped in my Prius in -10...without using my heater...just pile up on a good sleeping bags and sleeping blankets. Warm it up before going to sleep and it's fine all night. Crank it up in the am for a bit before you get up and going. I found that running it all night that often seemed hard on the Prius...but I think mine is older than yours. You should probably stay south at least until April because you will hit cold up in the NE ❄️🥶 Enjoy! I would go to New Mexico...tons of hot springs and Arizona and Utah...so much to see and it's the off season. Zion, Grand Canyon, Escalante...awesome brew pub in this little town and lots of free camping all around...Kanab, Bears Ears...just sooo much...many areas that have great hiking that are not National Parks...but if you have not been to Zion...go even if there are lots of peeps, it is a site to see. Same with Bryce. Be careful and do not drive the prius when the dirt roads are mushy...YOU WILL GET STUCK. Take my advice cuz I got stuck!😵💫😁
Definitely stop in Fort Worth. Cherry coffee, Spiral Diner, Stir Crazy Baked Goods, the stockyards, Buon Giorno, the botanical gardens, the MUSEUMS... It's lovely.
Better come by and get some Montreal bagels when you make your way up here!! Glad to see you didn't have too much trouble getting back into the US! What a journey through Mexico, honestly flew by, thanks for sharing all that with us as that's probably the most I've ever learned about Mexico in that way. Looking forward to this next American chapter!
TH-cam randomly recommended your channel so I’m excited to know you’re still on the road! I agree 100% with Bryce Douglas that you should attend a Mardi Gras parade in Louisiana on Tuesday, March 21. They’ll be happening all across the State but the best ones are along Interstate Highway 10 ie Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I myself am going to Mamou, LA for a Cajun Mardi Gras where revelers in homemade costumes ride horses through the parish, stopping at farmhouses to beg for a chicken and then bring the chickens back to town where an outdoor party ensues while the families make gumbo for everyone to eat! Laissez les bons temps rouler!
It's funny to hear these youngsters. As a 59-year-old Canadian, i remember when Canada still used fahrenheit and miles. Believe it or not, i still have to convert from metric to Imperial to really get a good sense of how cold it is, or how fast im traveling. Just shows you what a difference a couple of decades makes.
I’ve lived my whole life in the southeast US. You might like to visit the smokies and drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Asheville will have the densest population of van lifers in the southeast US too. I live in Charlotte, and we have a ton of breweries you may enjoy. I would avoid Atlanta, and Florida is unnecessary since you’ve been in Mexico for so long.
If you guys can make it to Big Bend National park it really is a slept on treasure, additionally as you're headed west. keep an eye out for hot springs national park in arkansas for a fun retreat day and feel free to skip oklahoma lol
@@LeahandLevi but if you can, you should still visit NOLA anyway. 🥰 Great video! Love watching your journey. Inspiring! I grew up in Houston, TX and while I was pretty small when we moved, I remember the canal in San Antonio being pretty neat! 🎉 Have fun in the Lone Star State! 🇺🇸
If you’ll be hitting the northeast anytime in May or later, be sure to check out the Easton farmer’s market in PA- oldest open air market in the country and it’s in a pretty location along a river!
Y'all should check out Buc-ee's! Some of the largest and interesting gas stations you'll find in Texas. Great food, especially their sandwiches, and all kinds of weird merchandise to marvel at.
This from a dual citizen living back in Canada (Port Moody) having moved back after living in New Mexico, just want to make sure you do hit that interesting state. Thinking your likely to head east towards Florida, likely the only part of NM you will cross is the southern portion which is not that great. But the Gila Wilderness area might work…some good boondocking there at least… good luck BTW I’m a 72 year old that car camps in a Prius also and it’s the best way to go back and forth from BC to NM! 😁
Soon the feral cows living in Gila will be shot from helicopters, roughly 150 slaughtered left to die. Not such a nice place. At least parts will be closed for the slaughter so you would have to check the dates and if that is something you really want to support 😢
As someone living in the EU it's actually somewhat fascinating to see you guys struggling with crossing a border. I'm old enough to remember when there were actual checks but even then it mostly just was showing your passport and often enough just being waved thtough. Now over here you sometimes wouldn't even recognize that you just crossed the border if there were not some signs telling you about it. So no, crossing a border doesn't have to be crazy. It's just what people/governments decided to make out of it. I know that a lot of angst is pushed on the voters about the people outside the resoective country and about opening the borders. But over here we experience what actual freedom you get if you actually open them up. I'm living in a cross border relationship. And its not a big issue at all. It's great that you show that it's mind opening to actually experience other countries. Over here it's just normal. Which does say everybody actually stays long enough in other countries to actually experience the other culture bits. But at least we see that there is more than just us. I know that there are harsh borders surrounding the EU. It's far from perfect. But within you just can drive through multiple countries without stopping. Or just take one train to do so. Without having to prepare anything special or stopping or even changing money. Or requiring special insurance. Or buying another phone card. I wish more people would realize how much worth that is.
UK born and living in Canada… I agree and cannot express adaquately how devastated and furious I have felt over Brexit. Took a car trip through Europe years ago with my dad - the freedom of crossing borders so easily is such a gift. Brexit has left an unholy mess…
Welcome to Texas! Not sure if you’re coming through Austin but some recommendations if you are coming by! Too funny!! I get that feeling when crossing the border back in the US. 😀 I have enjoyed your adventures and looking forward to the rest of them. I'm hoping to explore the great island of Vancouver this spring/summer. -Lynnette
Welcome to Texas! I live near San Antonio. Sounds like you guys came over right during the winter storm. I’ve been racking my brain on what you guys could do and I was kind of struggling. I feel like most of the cool parts of Texas are in the smaller towns. Big Bend is a popular place to hike and Palo Duro Canyon is nice too. They are both in the middle of nowhere. If you don’t mind spending the money and they aren’t booked, we have tons of great state parks. My family camps a lot. I think there are some good vegan places in Austin but I haven’t tried them myself.
What border town did you guys come in from when you crossed Mexico??? Try and visit San Antiono, Austin, Houston, and Dallas probably the most common tourist places and cities known by almost everyone.
Curious how you cooked the bagels? Also would like to hear more about how you’re getting on with the gas cooker and not using the induction cooker you bought.
We just toasted them in the pan with a bit of olive oil. So good actually. And we actually use the induction cooktop way more often than the gas. It’s just so much easier and efficient.
I lived in Austin, TX for 15 years (now in Gloucester, MA and Oslo, Norway. Go figure!). Anyway, if you guys are heading to or though Austin (as you should be), get out in the Hill Country to Hamilton Pool. it's something else and I would love to see you there on here! I can assure you it's worth it!
On the topic of love hotels: It would be really interesting to know some observations on sexual health and sex industry in Mexico etc from Leahs perspective!
Welcome to Texas! If y’all are coming through Houston, there’s tons of cool stuff to see/try/do! Like the Houston Livestock show & rodeo - the largest in the world!

I always enjoy your videos but had to comment on the ad placement - it seemed perfect today, and not totally random - are you able to place them now? Somewhere I just found out about that I would like to go visit is Gulf State Park in Alabama. Happy travels!
Mexico has great people to content with with the exception of the governmental parties that many try to take bribes or are used to it and the experience becomes a sweet bitter one which testifies with your crossing of the border into the US. Two realities and two unique experiences. Cheers.
Definitely stop by Montreal and Quebec city! Also, as a Montrealer currently living in Ottawa, I'd say Gatineau Park is worth the visit if you're driving that way!
If you’re not going to Florida, I think should DEFINITELY CHECK IT OUT- born and raised there, of course the keys and Miami such iconic places, Orlando for the theme parks. Its horrible how many times you were stopped by the police in Mexico, but I’m glad you were able to get out without bribing. Hope you liked my city, Monterrey!
I'm excited for the next chapter of your adventure - glad the border crossing itself wasn't too exciting. If you are going through Montgomery, Alabama, I recommend EJI's Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice. Come to gulfport ms ita on the coast the gulf of Mexico right past New Orleans an u should stop there also But ms has the longest man made beach come thru an check us out
Welcome to Texas! The more famous state parks are in west Texas and all the cool cities are in central/north Texas. You'll also see a lot of Teslas in the big cities, but massive trucks are everywhere.
Oh yeah baby, Walmart🥳. We couldn't believe how excited we were to go to Walmart when we returned from 7 months in Montréal, especially since when we left the US we were really dogging Walmart. We have a whole new appreciation for the place 🤣.
Too bad you aren’t making it into southern FL, reality it’s pretty hot to be sleeping in a car right now. Lots of ways to find free showers and toilets, free parking.

As someone much further North, I'm laughing at your "cold of Texas" comments, knowing that you are from Canada! Stay warm and have a great time!
Hey! Canadians who have been living in Mexico for 4 months haha
If you are hitting the east coast please don’t miss the Smokie mountains. Western NC is ahhhmazingly beautiful!
Big Ben Natl Park on Border and Palo Alto State Park near Amarillo.

Glad you made it safely across the border. Look forward to following the final half of your journey :)
Thanks so much for being here for the adventure 🥰🙏🏻
After all this time watching your channel, I never thought you'd end up in my good ol' hometown of Laredo! Worlds colliding!
Definitely stop in Fort Worth. Cherry coffee, Spiral Diner, Stir Crazy Baked Goods, the stockyards, Buon Giorno, the botanical gardens, the MUSEUMS... It's lovely.
Head over to the Civil Rights trail in Alabama. Selma, Montgomery, and Birmingham. Lots of learning can take place.

Three essential Texas stops: 1. Whataburger 2. H‑E‑B 3. Buc-ee’s
Buccees is done but the others are on the list!
Savannah Georgia needs to be a spot and then across the river, Charleston SC!

We have plenty of room in Vero Beach, Florida. Homeschooling, professional family who spends lots of the summer at our place in Canada! Come visit! ❤
Would be interesting to see a map of the whole route when you are done the whole trip.
3:44 that chair has seen some THINGS 🤣🤣🤣

You can find bagels in Mexico guys…
CANT WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK!! So glad to hear you're over the border. Sketchy doesn't even come close sometimes in Mexico....South of San Diego here.....

I never think of Texas being cold. I’m in Massachusetts where it’s cold until June?! Safe and warm travels!!
Right!? As a Canadian we’re just confused 😅
