    Tyler was given the keys to the Hollywood castle because he’s committed to portraying black people in a predominantly negative light. It’s sad that his ego prevents him from seeing this reality.

    When Dsllas was drunk.by the toilet and said his mother made him kill

    FYI But Tyler Perry used to have a writer's room for a few of his shows and movies starting in the beginning (House of Payne and The Family That Preys and the Why Did I Get Married). He fired these black writers because to quote him, " He does not pay people to critique him." Also, Tyler did not want to pay his writer's the SAG minimum. He also does not like to pay his actors the SAG minimum (unless they are more marquee actors like Tariji, Megan, Gabrielle, and Idris, etc.,). They have to sign a contract stating they are taking the job with the knowledge they will not be paid the required SAG minimum. I have said for years that Tyler Perry hates black women and continues to push the stereotypes placed on us to mainstream media.

      My cousin was murdered in 2001 when he was 25. He was into some things that he shouldn’t have been, but he wasn’t a violent person. The pastor did allude to young black men needing to stop leading lives of crime, which my aunt, his mother felt was very uncalled for. At the time of his passing we didn’t even know the full extent of his other life so it wasn’t good. Aretha Franklin’s funeral comes to mind as well, the pastor that did that eulogy used that opportunity to disparage single black mothers. I’ve also seen other attendees of funerals say bad things about the deceased.

    I ALMOST watched this, this weekend, then I remembered how bad Mia Culpa was, checked the 2 1/2 stars on Amazon and said, NOPE! I'm not going to keep rewarding him with my views. I love that he gives blk actors and actresses roles and more money but blk viewers also deserve quality movies. At this point, it seems obvious TP does not care how bad his movies are, I'm sure he sees/hears the reviews. After all these years, surely he would improve. Hiring these actors/actresses that we WANT to root for is a trick and I'm not falling for it anymore.

    • @josannemurer

      @spicyhot2552 it was more than that, TP should have developed each character more. It makes no sense that his wife is so devoted to her husband but sleeps with someone so quickly. The brothers' relationships, and yes, Dallas trauma. However, it was all so surface level bs. I couldn't emotionally connect with anyone in the film. It felt rushed and forced. When you watch a movie like Precious, you feel her level of trauma and how ruined her relationship with her mother is. But this show failed miserably. There was no real connection. I respect Tyler Perry for creating a means to build black actors and to pay them according to their talent, but his stories need more of a refinement. Spike Lee movies have dimensions, and he didn't always focus on the lowest essence of our community, even when he filmed a woman owning her sexual prowess. I remember watching Do the Right Thing and how angered I was that a black life was lost, yet most people were so desensitized to black loss that they felt more for the destruction of the Italian shop. I hope TP will be able to allow other writers and directors to make movies besides himself. There are so many who have stories and voices to uplift but do not have the opportunities afforded to them. I understand there are different black communities, and I would love to see more representation. One's that are also positive portrayal of our people. I notice a lot of the lighter skinned brothers always play a heroic role in his films. Our darker brothers need positive roles too.

    In the USA you can bury people on your private property. Many people have family graves in their backyards. It only works once you’ve obtained a legal documentation of death. (i.e Tell the government that they died so it doesn’t look like you murdered someone and are trying to hid it.)
    Then, the body has to be properly prepared depending on what you want (embalm it, refrigerate it, or cremate it).
    After that you can do whatever. (Normal funeral, throw the urns in the ocean, bury them in your backyard yourself,etc) 🤷🏾‍♀️

    The writing in this film is horrible. Tyler Perry needs to hire some serious writers who know how to write multi-faceted characters. Nearly, all the characters in this movie were one-dimensional especially Dallas, played by Corey. He was such a hard character to like from beginning to end, he never softened or had a moment of reflection, even when talking about how he was made to kill someone. Makes you wonder what a smart, sensitive young woman saw in him in the first place?! Tyler really should hire women writers to right for his female characters b/c he does have a problem with women.

      Yeah I was trying to figure out what Megan saw in him and then to find out they had been together since she was 17 and now almost 40 and Corey's character was just so angry 😅like why???? I think it's TP internal hatred for women that comes out in these movies. He needs to deal with his own trauma. Being that his audience doesn't even have high expectations for him most of us with sense could at least give the characters a little bit of depth. And still manage not to go over budget 😅but that's the soft bigotry of low expectations for ya

    Corey looking for control instead of him finding his own peace. It’s called “Control” and has nothing to do with black women.
    That’s trauma because Corey was force to do something to his father. Corey said his own mom made him do something.
    Corey mom ruled over 4 grown men. Trauma could have come from his mother.

    Even though everything you said is true, I don’t agree that it’s because Tyler hates black women, I think he just wrote a story of real life issues, and that’s the fact that a lot of good successful women stay in abusive marriages/relationships due to many many reasons, like thinking they can change him, or thinking because they put in years of their lives they would be loosing something, like when she mentioned she would be turning 40 soon almost like turning 40 is a death sentence and no one would truly want her or like pressure from family and friends to stay so it does not look like they failed, which is why her dad told her she had nothing to prove to him, in conclusion, this movie brought light to real life issues, at the end, she left, and to me that’s a win, no one should stay in an abusive marriage, ever!

      If you think TP is a good screen-writer, I'd encourage you to watch any critically-acclaimed movie and see the contrast. You might think Tyler puts out good quality content - I do not. I am not one of those people who needs every movie to be cerebral and deep. I just think aiming for something above mediocre is the least someone could ask for. The bar is attainable.
      I don't think you can honestly say TP puts the effort into his works. There is a reason why most movies have one person doing the producing, another doing the writing and another doing the directing. That's because each one of those roles requires thoughtfulness, talent and great execution.
      And let's not act like Tyler's hurting for anything - he is a very very rich and powerful man. That's undeniable and I love that for him. I just wish he'd take all of those gifts and put out quality. And apparently he doesn't want my support because I'm what he considers a "highbrow negro" just because I understand storytelling! Conversely, he's calling his core audience lowbrow negroes. So take that how you will. Like I've told others, if you like his stuff, I love that for you. I think his movies are low-quality.

    I think while anyone who puts out art can/should be criticized, you have to do it accurately. The first point that you make about Tyler Perry hating Black women, I disagree with. He's stereotypically presenting women as victims, but is centering women in most of his stories. If anything, he hates me. In most cases, when a dominant group of people "hates" a marginalized group, they don't paint them as "victims". His view of women is certainly limited, shallow, and reductive, but isn't based in "hate" in my opinion anyway. He would benefit from other writers, but most would make the argument that his hatred is more toward men than women - at least as depicted in his films. He's making movies with the attempt of positively affirming Black women who have been hurt by Black men.

    • @iseemelanie
      @iseemelanie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I explained my critique of him pretty thoroughly (the video is over 30 mins long). If you think the word "hate" is too strong or inaccurate, maybe "disdain" of "strong contempt" might appease you. As I mentioned in the video, I think he has these deep-seated feelings of hate/disdain/strong contempt towards both black woman and men, in different ways. And we all have our different interpretations of things - I do not see anything in this film or Mea Culpa that positively affirms black women at the core. Yeah, the female characters in these movies had good jobs but that's where the positivity begins and ends.

    I mean it wasn’t trash most women are like this but sometimes still stay with the man and men take the cake if they haven’t healed from childhood trauma so it highlights things that black women need to be stronger on and black men to heal and for them to be ready to heal and black women to know they can’t heal no man they have to heal for themselves first if not leave they asses behind and most still lost in the sauce so it’s a good way to point out that black people need to do better as parents, people and most of all us as individuals. I thought it was okay could of made Cory a bit more aggressive in his senses he just walked away so easily and most people that are like this they still go into the party or have to be escorted out the job. Or at least taken the pictures himself but hey I’m some black households they don’t want to see they own grow, heal and evolve, so they enable their unhealthy toxic behavior. Then I think in the beginning the pastor should have talk to the family after the service not judge her boys and the way she raised them in front of everyone like that cos most would have done the same except take the child out the casket but I get it they would say they paid for it.

    Tyler Perry can make a movie about wiping your ass, and people will still watch. I think this is Tyler Perry’s niche atp 😂 he knows his audience and is appeasing to that, he is not willing to change as it makes him money.

      @@Authenticallysandy I think at this rate a lot of people are watching his films just to see how much of a train wreck it’s gonna be. And I agree - he has a winning formula, at least financially, why change his style. It’s just too bad that he refuses to elevate his art.

    No matter what you say, TP 's coins have not stopped. When you can buy a whole army base, turn it into an entire movie studio, employ thousands of people, you can make your kind of movie. It's a movie homegul, i5s not to be taken as anything but. You're also not telling the story as it happened.

      I have never once in my life thought I could change the mind of a man I’ve never met, much less a successful movie maker. If you think that was the intent behind my video, you are sorely mistaken. He’s successful in his movie making financially speaking. He is not in terms of quality. He has no critical acclaim. If you think the quality of his writing is high, then you have not been exposed to high quality.
      Also tell me where I got things fundamentally wrong. I’d love to hear it.

    I believe the funeral casket scene was just a representation of the mothers strong, blind pridefulness.

    It is a movie about what black women go through in this world, what is black people problem that they have to critized and tear down each other, and by the way it's telling a story about the mental problem that men also have.

    • @iseemelanie
      @iseemelanie  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Firstly, it’s a critique, not criticism. Secondly, not all black women go through this. But even so, this has been the same premise for a bulk of his content, so he should consider other stories. Thirdly, it would have been wonderful if he actually delved into Dallas’ obvious mental issues. That’s what I’m referring to when I said the character is one-dimensional - they just mentioned he killed his father one time and never went back into it and how that affected him.
