Sure do enjoy visiting these beautiful Pubs in Glasgow with you and Alicia. It' Might be fun to have you guy's spending a Saturday evening in a place with the locals. I have heard of neighbors bringing their Celtic instruments and jamming together, playing traditional Irish folk music. How fun that would be to sit in get to meet them and listen to the music 🎵🎶 I am grateful for vlogging that helps people around the world to connect. I can see and hear feel a place that I would never have had a chance to experience. So you and Alicia are wonderful. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
A great wee tour of Glasgow pubs, full of great characters including you two. Many years ago I went to the Nautical college so the Clutha, Victoria and scotia were really popular as they were closest to the halls. It's a pity the Clutha was shut as I hear its a great place these days
You surpassed yourself on this video! As a proud Brummie I can say that Glasgow is the second best city in the world. The Laurieston looked fantastic. The Pot Still looks like Heaven and 10 year old Benromach is a wonderful way to start on the slippery slope to nirvana. Perhaps you should do some more on Glasgow. Many people think it’s still a dismal, dirty city and of course it is anything but. The architecture, Central Station, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the Clyde, the pubs, the museums and galleries are all fantastic.
Can not wait to get back home in June. Little dancing at The Cathouse and fish supper from the Blue Lagoon. Unfortunately can’t get that here in North Carolina. Thank you for the great videos, keep up the great work!
Great video. I had my retiral do in the State Bar, in the basement room. A couple of well known pubs you missed out on. The Griffin which is close to the State and has only recently reopened. It used to be split into three sections - the Griffin, the Griffiny and the Griffinette. I don't know if that's still the same but I'm going for a meal there next Wednesday so will find out then. The other pub is the Bon Accord in North Street, just the other side of the M8 motorway. Well known for its wide choice of guest beers and whisky.
Such a cool video, thanks for sharing! My buddy and I did an Ireland trip last September (2023) and the highlight of the trip was visiting the Pubs and enjoying the gracious and friendly people who made these 2 Yanks feel so welcome! In September (2024) we are planning a trip to Scotland so this video has got me jazzed up for exploring all the amazing Pubs and meeting the locals who frequent them. I am guessing the Scots will be as gracious and friendly as the Irish were!
Loved this video, as someone who lives just outside Glasgow who has been to most of these pubs, it's amusing to see your unnerving faces at times. Glasgow has always had that friendly rough vibe. It really is a great place to be though. People have good hearts and great tales.
The Laurieston is so gorgeous, inside and out. Love that place. My other favourite is the Allison Arms on Pollokshaws Rd, south side. Wonderful places both.
Believe it or not I went to a Glasgow pub armed. Well potentially. Armed with an English accent. I went in with trepidation but had a fantastic welcome and handled all the banter. Trust me on this if you have a few beers in Glasgow you will meet more philosophers than anywhere else. Great people.
Great pub crawl Steve & Alicja. Lovely pubs shown loved the one where you were given the "Tour" very friendly. As often as I was in Glasgow I never was in a pub there, but then I was mostly passing through.

I had a great visit to Glasgow last summer. There was a beautiful old building across from the Moxy Hotel I will never forget. Wonderful architectural details were on the exterior. Everything was knocked down around it. I hope that it gets preserved! Hard to believe I didn't spend any time in a pub there...what the heck is wrong with me ;)
There's nae pies left! Brilliant. Although im not a pub guy this vid made me appreciate our city's pubs histories. From the scotia hosting billy and gerry to the utter authenticity of the Laurieston. I uded to inhabit the old toll from time to time some history in the interior and a good friendly pub. Enjoyed the vid guys well done.
When we were over visiting from New Zealand last year my mum and dad took us to the Laurieston. When had our kids with us 7 and 10 yr olds and we sat in the lounge. The staff were so nice and friendly and even gave our kids a couple of pond notes as they had never seen them before. :)
Some absoluut gems but your number one was definitely my number one as well. They don't come more authentic than that. They must have been having a laugh about the pies before you both walked in and where happy to inform you of the inconvenience!!😂. The whole atmosphere was of a real pub where everyone is welcome. Great place by the looks of it with a real living history.
We had a couple of those pies earmarked for a well-deserved snack as well! :D What a place though, didn't want to film it, but we were even down in the cellar!
@@steve-marsh cool. Say what you like about Glasgow and I have but the real Glaswegians are a wee bit different to your average east coaster. Might be needing a day trip next time I'm over.
That was brilliant, thank you! As a Glaswegian now living in Skye it brought back many happy memories and started a conversation with my husband about which pubs you didn't visit, which were our favourites and which ones are sadly no longer there. Made me just a wee bit homesick too. Cheers!
Such an excellent tour of Glasgow’s iconic pubs and bars. As an Englishman I’ve always felt intimidated to walk into a Scottish pub. You have given me confidence to give it a go. Perhaps I will get to check out one or two of these on a future visit to Scotland. BUT I am disappointed and gutted that you did not go to famous “ The Louden Tavern “. How I would love to see inside. 👏👏👍😀

As a Glaswegian who has lived in Bermuda for 52 years I really enjoyed your pub tour and your enthusiasm for even bringing your camera out in that weather. On my next trip ‘home’ I will revisit this video to have a pint in one of the pubs. Well done.
@@steve-marshYes I am hating the weather at the moment- I got soaked to the skin on Wednesday - not happy, roll on to better weather!! Which hotel did you stay in Glasgow?
Glasgow is great the pubs good fun but the best ....are the people !!! My favourite place for a weekend break .You seem to have walked a lot to empty pubs ,i never have that far to go ,the city centre has lots of lovely bars and restaurants.
We loved Glasgow and the architecture when we visited in November. We will check out a few of the pubs on your list next time we visit Scotland. Thank you both for braving the weather for us, always enjoy your video's. We are flying back to sunny and hot Melbourne on Tuesday. Looking forward to watching more of you videos in 2023.
Enjoy the rest of summer! :) Aye, the architecture in Glasgow is often overlooked in favour of 'prettier' Edinburgh, but it's our favourite city to be honest. Safe travels!
Thank you for taking us with you on this very tough assignment. And kudos for braving the heavy rain! I haven't been to Glasgow in a very long (LONG!!) time so it was nice to traipse along with you both virtually.
Happy New Year to you both. I was in the Pot Still in December before Christmas on a day trip from Belfast. I absolutely loved it and the staff are amazing and they really help take the snobbery away from whiskey drinking and find you a good wee dram. All the best for the new year. Cheers 🍻
The Iron Horse was a great Glasgow pub. Unfortunately its been closed since Feb 2020 as the owners of the buildings on that block decided to replace all the properties with a soulless eurobox hotel. That big Co-op building was known as the Co-op hypermarket in the late 70s, early 80s. It was pretty much one of the first mega supermarkets that we have everywhere now.
Part 2, hielan Jessie, ( gallowgate), tollbooth,(Glasgow X),shipbank,( salt market),st Luke's,( bain st),B.A.D,( moncur st),crystal bells,( gallowgate, and another 4 pubs on the gallowgate,,all within walking distance of each other
@SM-mf2ty nope just stating facts, he was in that area , so there the most well known pubs, as a rangers supporter I wouldn't go to most of those pubs, as you know they mostly are republican pubs, but..I don't drink anyway👍🏴
Hi Steve ... Nuthin' like a pub crawl to " warm the cockels" on a wet day and / or night !😂 Looks like you got heaps of exercise in at least for the day.... even if they werent all open , but I guess, another good thing about the day, is you didn't get plastered 😂 I love the architecture and history in each of them.
You pair are a joy to watch, I’ve viewed every video you make, not a bad one to be had. Looking forward to your next adventure, keep Scotlands highest village Wanlockhead in mind, you would both love it.
Hi Steve, Regarding Glasgow pubs, I only know the name of one pub. All the big whisky enthusiasts rave about it as the place to go. Many whisky lovers from all around the world, when visiting Glasgow, make a "pilgrimage" there, being the most famous of all Whisky pubs. Moreover, many famous whisky personalities frequent this pub. I'm talking about the "Bon Accord" pub, 153 North Street. If I ever do go into a Glaswegian pub in the future, it will probably be this one.
The Bon Accord is great but for whisky personally prefer The Pot Still (featured) and ‘The Ben Nevis’ in Finnieston (not featured). As a local, I can’t argue with your ratings of The Laurieston and The Scotia my favourites along with The Allison Arms on the south side which is also well worth a visit.
I do love a pub crawl! In my misspent youth (living in London) the Circle Line Marathon was a common occurrence in the festive season. Thats getting on the Tube Circle Line at Liverpool Street and get off at every station on the Circle Line and visit the nearest pub, I think it was 24 stations, so, it was most definitely a last man standing scenario and although I remember the starts I'm a bit hazy about the ends…… One year we ended up in Brentwood 'cos we got on the wrong (last) train…..
What a great video. You showed off Glasgow so well. Hey, if you want a real Glasgow pub challenge, apparently people use the subway, jump off at each of the 15 stations. You down a drink at the nearest pub, and continue on until they're back where they started - albeit in a worst state than when they started.
Very solid selection. If doing a round 2 you should definitely go to the Bon Accord at Charing X. If you are looking for the old world style of boozer then the Saracen Head at Gallowgate and Brechins Bar in Govan bring it. The Laurieston is a Time Machine and should be inherited and preserved by the national trust.
Hi Greig, The Saracen Head (Sarry Heid) on Gallowgate has got to be in the running for one of Glasgow's famous pubs. It's 55yrs since I left Glasgow. But I'll always remember back in the 60s as a teenager with a couple of pals, it was the "first port of call" before going to the Barrowland.
Nelson Mandela place: the story goes that it was re-named whils Nelson Mandea was still in prison on Robin Island. And why that place? Because that's where the South African consulate was....
I belong to Glasgow, I used to live in this great city back in the 2.000s, I love it, Btw, the bad weather during the shooting makes for a much more authentic experience. Great video, the man and the lady are great hosts. Would have loved meeting and sharing a Lager with them. Cheers!!
Cracker, Steve. 👍 The thing is, you could probably do that vid another half a dozen times without using the same pub twice! 😁 Also, as a whisky man on Islay, I’m glad you found The Pot Still… 😁
Thanks, Steve and Alicja, for taking us along. Got to see parts of Glasgow I’d not seen before. I don’t enjoy liquor, so pub visits have never been on my list of priorities when in Scotland. At least I got to see them through your lens! ATB!
What a great idea for a day trip to glesca and the late bus back to fife great video Steve and alicja happy new year to you all. Still have memories of the Clutha tragedy shame we couldn’t see inside. Thanks

That was an enjoyable video of your pub tour hope plenty of loos about 😮with visiting of the drinking houses lol 😆 lot of character in those historic ale houses lots of footwork you did 🚶♀️🚶♀️
We spent 3 nights in Glasgow in the summer during our Scottish railway adventure. My preference is for Real Ale and we visited two of your 10 - Sloane's and the Pot Still - we can vouch for the excellence of the Pot Still pies!
A few times friends and i have did the "Subcrawl" ie. getting off at every station of the Glasgow Underground and having a drink at the nearest pub (there's an app for it). So that's 15 pubs in total. Starting around noon at the ST. Enoch centre (usually The Times Bar) going around in a clockwise direction, you can be done by about 9 o'clock, normally reasonably compos mentos. Well, believe it or not, the second stop is The Laurieston Bar! It's properly a time machine in there, but yes - the staff are that friendly. They love getting sub-crawlers and photograph every group they can, filling up the albums by year stored in the lounge. On our last visit, we went back and found photos of us from years before!

@@ernestmccreight6188 Gosh 52 years , so people really do get lost in the Bermuda Triangle!
Great to see my old home city, the place of my birth and remember some good nights in the Scotia and the Lauriston 😁
Glad to bring you some familiar places mate!
Glasgow a great place to visit, been in the Scotia and Pot Still, good pubs
Great video of your visiting pubs in Glasgow, apart from the horrible and depressing weather, so much history!!!
Oh the west coast fair gets battered with rain! Cheers David!
@@steve-marshYes I am hating the weather at the moment- I got soaked to the skin on Wednesday - not happy, roll on to better weather!! Which hotel did you stay in Glasgow?
You two are adorable. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Thanks so much Wayne! Cheers :)
I'd love to visit the Victorian and Georgian styled pubs. They're so beautiful. Cheers! 🍻
Incredible the work that used to go into these pubs!
I just realised it would be summer In Australia. Winter was our summer over here. Still fascinates me that.
Thank you for taking us with you on this very tough assignment. And kudos for braving the heavy rain! I haven't been to Glasgow in a very long (LONG!!) time so it was nice to traipse along with you both virtually.
Thanks so much! The things we have to do for TH-cam eh!?
Happy New Year to you both. I was in the Pot Still in December before Christmas on a day trip from Belfast. I absolutely loved it and the staff are amazing and they really help take the snobbery away from whiskey drinking and find you a good wee dram. All the best for the new year. Cheers 🍻
Couldn't agree more James! Fantastic staff, fantastic pub!
That was a riot, loved it...:):):)
Great video guys. How about one of the Glasgow ‘city centre Mural Trail’ some fantastic murals to see and it would make a very interesting video.
Funnily enough that was on the list too for a nicer day! Cheers :)
10 pubs you 2 good stuff hope it's a nice wee memory 2 save for yous enjoyed thanks
Superb info - cheers for that!
@@steve-marsh No worries. Love your videos. Never miss them.
my go to pub on a saturday night in the seventies
So much amazing living modern history and life in those pubs. It's amazing history not all old buildings and books
Aye, agreed - a great way to discover a city!
Lol am I blocked
Raining in Glasgow is Nick Abbot's favourite subject. Nick Abbot being a late night LBC radio presenter.
Hi Steve ... Nuthin' like a pub crawl to " warm the cockels" on a wet day and / or night !😂
Looks like you got heaps of exercise in at least for the day.... even if they werent all open , but I guess, another good thing about the day, is you didn't get plastered 😂
I love the architecture and history in each of them.
Cheers Heather! Oh imagine if I'd had a drink one each one, I think I'd still be in the gutter :D
@@steve-marsh ...and imagine all the added laughter we would have had, at your expense !😂😂😂
Amazing, really. We had a pint when you did. Fun pub crawl. Thanks. Dave and Merry Ann from Minnesota
Thanks so much for joining us Merry Ann!
Raining in Glasgow, what a shocker
I know eh!
You pair are a joy to watch, I’ve viewed every video you make, not a bad one to be had. Looking forward to your next adventure, keep Scotlands highest village Wanlockhead in mind, you would both love it.
Thanks so much!!! :)
Hi Steve,
Regarding Glasgow pubs, I only know the name of one pub.
Thanks so much for this - it will top the list for 'part two' when we get a chance to return
@@steve-marsh
Couple of other suggestions mate …
Rab Ha’s (Merchant City)
The Allison Arms (South side)
You can also get an excellent meal for very reasonable prices.
I can see that the Bon Accord has a lot of fans.😀
Now we know where all the hardwood from Canada went! Gorgeous railings, counters, doors, etc.
Haha yes! And it'll last forever!
PS The longest bar in London is at St Pancras (but its not a pub as such), its about 300ft long!!
I feel a video of this coming! :D
Wow!
The equivalent in Glasgow is a Subcrawl - though it's a good 40 years since I went on one!
Mate just stumbled on this - making me seriously nostalgic. Emigrated to New Zealand years ago. Miss those bars 😔
What a great video. You showed off Glasgow so well. Hey, if you want a real Glasgow pub challenge, apparently people use the subway, jump off at each of the 15 stations. You down a drink at the nearest pub, and continue on until they're back where they started - albeit in a worst state than when they started.
The Subcrawl.
Haha brilliant! Scott, I'll leave that challenge to you! Or maybe we could do it together?! :D
Sloans is a nice pub ,many dates in there .Went back 2yrs ago for new year had a lovely meal drink nice place 😊
Thanks so much for the part 2 tips!
@@steve-marsh forgot to mention Bloc+ with its irn bru pulled pork sandwiches and buckfast ice cream if your needing a pit stop.
Ahhh! Top info! Cheers!
😁 Also, as a whisky man on Islay, I’m glad you found The Pot Still… 😁
That wee place appears to be very famous! And for gid reason!
@@steve-marsh you really should do an Islay video at some point. David here is a great host at Bunnahabhain distillery.
Wow this brings back memories! The Lauriston especially. Thanks Steve.
A pleasure Ron!
Ahh... just thinking about how many hangovers and ruined saturdays have been created by these few buildings😂
Haha but doesn't stop us going back!
I am from north of England and love Glasgow
Very strong connections, glad you love Glasgow, good taste :)
Dude you should have went to the Tollbooth! it's one of the best old bars in the city!
Clearly we need a 'part 2' eh!?
Another Glasgow bar tip for you Steve: the Bon Accord!
Interesting video x nice to see Glasgow again a lot of changes since I was there x thank you both x
Thanks, Steve and Alicja, for taking us along. Got to see parts of Glasgow I’d not seen before. I don’t enjoy liquor, so pub visits have never been on my list of priorities when in Scotland. At least I got to see them through your lens! ATB!
Thanks Erin! We're not big drinkers either, but it's a nice way to have a look around Glasgow :)
What a great idea for a day trip to glesca and the late bus back to fife great video Steve and alicja happy new year to you all. Still have memories of the Clutha tragedy shame we couldn’t see inside. Thanks
Cheers John! Aye, even the other publicans were surprised it was closed...
Well done...that was quite a trip around town you had..in THAT weather!...do it again in the summertime!
At last a new year treat for alicja
It's STILL her round...
I really enjoyed your video we will be back up in june just love the old school glasgow pub's I'm a geordie we are always feel welcome cheers steve
Really enjoyable video👏. Haven't been out in Glasgow city centre for a while but worked there for over 10 years and frequented a few of those pubs! The Laurieston is a real gem, glad you made it your number 1👍
Thanks Sheila! Oh that place is really special :)
Great pub crawl! A personal favourite of mine is the Heilan Jessie, a lovely friendly pub and probably the cheapest!
Oh thanks for the tip for part 2!
Ohh. Some old friends there and some new one to visit next time. Thanks from Iceland.
I really hope the old pubs survive, they have had a tough few years
That was an enjoyable video of your pub tour hope plenty of loos about 😮with visiting of the drinking houses lol 😆 lot of character in those historic ale houses lots of footwork you did 🚶♀️🚶♀️
Great you made it to the Pot Still. My personal favourite when with the lads for a pint a catch up.
It seems to be a real favourite in the comments - so glad it was recommended to us!
The horseshoe bar was my dearest late Sisters favourite I loved the video ,if I ever get back to Glesga I,ll do that tour cheers
A tour of famous Glasgow pubs, not getting merry and not talking to the locals about the histories... fabulous content.
What gey wonderful Video, loved the Edinburgh Accent!
We spent 3 nights in Glasgow in the summer during our Scottish railway adventure. My preference is for Real Ale and we visited two of your 10 - Sloane's and the Pot Still - we can vouch for the excellence of the Pot Still pies!
Nice one! Ohh we need to get back and try those pies!!!
On our last visit, we went back and found photos of us from years before!
love you guys...great duo
