    I met Chris a few months back. A complete class act and talent

    I met Chris Masters some time ago before he was signed to the WWE. I was training at Golds Gym in Venice Beach California. I lived in San Diego and would make day trips about once every other weekend to train at the mecca. What struck me about Chris was his size, not only was he big but he was quite tall. I ran into him again the same day at the Firehouse in Venice, that's one of the most popular spots where all of the body builders go out to eat. I hate to be that guy but Chris was on the phone and while I can't confirm, it sure sounded like he was talking to somebody from the WWE. All around great guy, very friendly. We took a picture, chatted for a bit and I was on my way. Looking forward to listening to this episode. Conrad, Bruce thank you so much for this show! It has helped me out a lot in life to and from work, while working and just providing so much information and awesome stories. Bruce is a master story teller and is quite funny. I remember being a kid and irritating my parents so much because I would always imitate Brother Love! I never would have guessed that some 34 years later he'd still be a part of my life and provide much needed entertainment and escape.

    I was a fan of Masters and still am always enjoying playing as his character in Smackdown vs Raw gsmes. I remember the wellness issues and Conrade bringing up the opioid issues of those years makes sense. While you had a lot of young guys in the company back then many of them seemed to fall a foul of two years ago this was ok today it's not, and you pick whether they took too much or something that was fine now is put on a banned list. But I thought Masters was a solid midcard good look, good in ring ability, but not the best promo so it's a matter of how far you can go. Happy I can still see him from time to time at an event online.

    Warlord was stronger than Masters or Lashley - not as strong as Patera though. I've also heard Chris is a really nice guy IRL, much like Lashley and Warlord (but not Patera), and it's great to see him still wrestling and doing well ... shows his passion for the business is legitimate.

    I wonder what Bruce is doing when they fast forward certain spots. As a fellow pothead, I'd like to imagine he's taking a fat bong hit but can't show that side of him because he works for a publicly traded company. There's no way he's just crushing a beer. He does that on air! No judgments passed, just wondering.

    It is always disappointing to hear Conrad, a life long wrestling fan, say steroids aren’t a big deal.
    How many wrestlers we watched growing up died in the 30s and 40s from heart issues? A lot of that stems from steroid abuse.

    • @account_suspended
      @account_suspended 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Steroids are not a big deal. It’s only dangerous when people abuse them or get bad product from bad sources. If it was regulated and prescribed then things would be fine. HGH can do wonders for so many people.

    • @stingrey1571
      @stingrey1571 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@account_suspended I agree but for Conrad to be nonchalant about it knowing full well the history of wrestlers who misused and abused them is silly.

    • @charlesingleton1213
      @charlesingleton1213 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@account_suspended the problem is that wrestlers DO abuse them AND get them from illegal sources! The wrestlers used them back in the day not just to get ripped, but to be able to heal faster as they were on the road all year long with literally no breaks and no guaranteed pay if they were out injured. That is a huge reason why an alarming number of guys I was watching on TV when I was a kid in the 80s are not here anymore!!
      For Conrad or anyone to say it is no big deal is insensitive to the families of those we lost due to this. Then of course, we have the Chris Benoit example that we will never forget and was a huge catalyst for WWE to crack down as hard as (they say) they do!

    • @account_suspended
      @account_suspended 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are so many factors. I agree that Conrad didn’t need to be so nonchalant with his words but I understand where he is coming from. Drugs/alcohol abuse, CTE, and many other things are factors that may have caused deaths.

    I had 0 interest in this guy when he debuted. I didn't think he'd go far and sure enough, he didn't. This was the beginning of seeing new talent like Chris, come in with video packages and promos and then they would be gone just as quickly as they came in. Mordicai, Nathan Jones, Matt Morgan, Ultimo Dragon etc... None of them lasted and were quickly forgotten about although Dragon had some steam behind him when he came in.
