It is always most interesting when you pick up a piece with many facets and add the ways a tool was held and utilized. Thanks for making special note of these tools Brent. They are among my favorites.
Not many people out there tool hunting, but there are a bunch of them out there in the eastern part of the country. Fish dams can be some of the best places to look, if you can find them. Many are somewhat washed away. Tools were made and left there generation after generation.
@@brentkuehne435 we live in central Michigan, I now am owner and 4th generation of our farm. My father said the Ojibwa or Chippewa Indians passed through the farm. A lake is 1 1/2 miles and a river 1 mile. I’ve already found some tool like stones. Watching your videos will help me this summer find more. I’m 72 so the exercise will do me good! Our 6 grandkids visit the farm a lot so I’m teaching them to look for unusual stones.
@@bluejay3333 Nice , my daughter goes with me at times and is good at finding tools but she is not into it like I am. But, I enjoy the time with her. She is 22 now !
Brent thank you for the information about Native American Tools ! This answered a lot of the questions to the artifacts that I have recovered! I live in the heart of the Choctaw nation in Mississippi an find these things on regular basis! Just now discovering the the art they created such as stone animals like deer , turkeys and turtles
when i was a young scout i was walking across a lake shore and found a hide skinning tool and a trilobite in a stone. i still remember the energy bestowed on the tool when i saw it. it found me.
There are so many tools out there that are over looked ! The Woodland period saw a huge transition to an agrarian society, and tool making. It also marked the largest increase in population than any time of Native American history. So there is a lot out there!
Love your videos, do you have somewhere I could send you some pictures? I've some beautifull tools and a huge effigie wasnt sure what I had until I found this channel!
I found a creek spot in Central Illinois that is a known settlement area. My husband and I found 2 ax heads in about 100 feet apart. We've found some awesome tools thanks to your videos. I've found 7 bird effigies from small to large. I was wondering if they are shaped that way to be used as a special tool?
I have some that I think were used as tools , and some I know are not. Not sure why the effigy / tool combination ? I think it could be boredom ? i am sure there were long laborious days prepping food.
Greetings! I am truly enjoying your videos and learning a lot. Thank you! Would you consider creating some contact to help us see exactly how we can determine if our funds are what they seem to be? If you already have made one please direct me. Are there natural processes that can create a pecked rock? If someone finds these on their own property can they get them examined or authenticated in any way? Thank you!
Any thoughts on mounds built from effigies? I believe we have one. Everything we pull off of it is an effigy. And if I’m not insane there are teeth marks in a lot of them. Some are BIGbig. The mound has a moat. The effigies are spectacular. Any words of wisdom? I believe the time of REVELATIONS is upon us. Our history is being revealed.
Hi Brent, really like your videos of stone tools. I recently joined then the Ohio Archaeology Association to gain more info. I'm located in central Ohio central. Where are you located. Thanks John
Hi Brent, I live in Canada on a farm and recently been finding several stone tools, artifacts, effigies and fossils. I think you've got some fossilized mammoth parts there. Very similar to ones I've been finding with art of the elephant like creatures. I've also come across large cat teeth and claws also with art of what looks to be a Saber toothed tiger on them. I could share a few photos with you if you'd like. Leave me your email if so. Take care.
@jimpeters6440 I have tried everything. The best by far is Murphys oil soap mixed with water. Use a soft brush. The only downside is it takes a good 3 weeks for the artifacts to dry.
So far, the best thing I have found is Murphys oil soap. It conditions the stones a bit. It also brings out the workmanship a little better that patina and river wear hide.
@@matthensley3942 Interesting comment ! A friend of mine and I have one of the largest collections of Cherokee and Mississippian culture artifacts on display in a museum in N.E. Ga. Its open, and its free !

Thx for sharing. Learned about a few stones at the end that I have seen didn't know what they were so didn't pick them up.
Cool collection !!! Be careful out there !!! 🗿
I’ve watched several of your videos since last week. Thanks for explaining each tool. It’s very helpful for beginners like myself.

I see very few artifacts in this video so far.
What kind of artifacts are you looking for ?

Nice. When my husband looks at rocks, he sees a rock. When I see one, I automatically check it out to see if it could have been a tool. Thanks 😊
My husband sees rocks also. He tells me “they all look the same”. How dare him!
My husband and I see tools with our finds. Most other people see rocks except for the 2 ax heads and celt that are obvious.
just the opposite here! my wife accuses me of having 'quite an imagination' when I point out tools with thumb/palm grooves and oil stains! lol
