AA - This is the best message, that is so kind of you to say. I really enjoy building the dioramas for my own display and sharing the blueprints, decals and instructions with you afterwards so that you can build them yourselves at home too. If it was just about me, I think that it would be dull. But sharing makes it indeed fun for all ages :) SHow me your photos if you build something !!! And help spread the word, Dioramas, the most FUN hobby out there :) Frank.
Hi Chad, Welcome to the workshop :) Make sure to spread the word to your friends and social clubs, Thanks for taking the time to tell me this, it makes me very happy and excited to learn and see what you will build with my tutorials and help. Don't be shy to email or comment if you have any questions while building. Frank.
Awe Scott, you made my weekend :) thank you for taking the time to say that. It really means a lot to me to see that the builds and tutorials are so appreciated. Post some photos in comments when you have built your own. I love to see what the fans come up with :) Frank.
Thank you Santos, how exciting ! You are the best dad, show us photos when you are done. It's a great kids build. And your figures look so cool when placed in front after.
Awesome tutorial, Frank. Thank you. I'll have to try the bandages + plaster technique soon. I usually make my Tatooine textures from tissue paper and diluted PVA glue.
Thank you for taking the time to let me know :) you welcome. So much fun to build this. Wait till you see next weeks large house :) same technique but bigger :) paper n glue similar to papier mache. Its good way to do it too. Some use stukko. Its all relative, its really the domes that give the movie feel. All techniques work, this was just to show how the kids did it at celebration 2. Can you believe 20 years already.
Use XPS foam(its much more stable then cardboard and its fairly cheap and Tile Grout mixed with Matt ModPodge 1:1 You have a lot longer working time and its less messy(at least i think) than plaster
There are so many cool ways to do Tatooine houses, your technique works well too :) I use plaster because that's what the fans used at my Celebration Convention booth and the tutorials from the shows, I try to do the same for those who could not attend and want to experience the same. Does that make sense the way I explained it ? Frank.
Hey Ray, I dont own, collect 6", too $$$$ in canada. The techniques are the same for all sizes which is good. Even smaller like for Lego or FFG. What I would do is make a door shape first to get the height and then design the rest of the walls, dome around that. Use movie stills for inspiration if you want accuracy. Best thing about Tatooine, great for all ages and abilities as the film set look is run down city. So perfection like say Death Star is not needed. Have fun, show us photo when you are done, love to see it. Frank.
I am “but the learner”. But you are “the MASTER”.
thats very kind :) I am now blushing - but don't stop lol. Frank.
