This is a helpful video, thank you. Do you know of any cases of a successful extension application for medical reasons? I am in Spain half the time (within 90 day limits) but am considering applying for this in order to continue and conclude private medical treatment for a recently discovered and serious brain condition that requires an in -patient procedure and then potentially a larger operation with a few weeks recovery time. The alternative is returning to the UK and starting from scratch, probably waiting weeks at every stage, whereas it's been incredibly rapid here in Spain. Several specialist appointments and MRI in a couple of weeks. Also, it's not clear from what I've read (if the extension was approved) whether your passport is returned to you after the application process, or at the end of the extension? And how would you resume the calculation of your rolling 90/180 allowance at the end of an extension period - would the days covered by the extension period simply not count as Schengen days?
What about working in the AudioVisual sector...ive read there is a Fast Track visa for an extension on the 90 day visa up to 180 days. Can I apply for this is spain?
The link below gives you the rules for the new (ish) audio visual visa. It looks like you (or your employer) should apply through the consulate in advance if you know you’re staying longer than 90 days, but if that wasn’t the plan and you found you had to stay for longer than 90 days once you were there, then you’d apply to UGE in Spain. spainaudiovisualhub.mineco.gob.es/content/dam/seteleco-hub-audiovisual/resources/pdf/280222_Permisos%20profesionales%20extranjeros_vf(EN).pdf
Thanks! So question (I am from the US) but assume this applies to me -- I am pretty sure I will need to stay longer than 90 days, but with that said, I could try to make it work if I leave the country during none filming times, but in the case that I do need to extend it past the 90 day period can it still apply to my situation if I have left the country a few times in between then@@youtoospain
@@danalivingabroad yes it does apply to US citizens. Like I said to the previous commenter, check out the link below, you or your employer can apply either in advance to your local Spanish consulate if you know you’re going to be here for more than 90 days, or if that wasn’t the plan but you found you had to stay longer than 90 days once you were here, then you’d apply to UGE in Spain. spainaudiovisualhub.mineco.gob.es/content/dam/seteleco-hub-audiovisual/resources/pdf/280222_Permisos%20profesionales%20extranjeros_vf%28EN%29.pdf
Hi there. I'd welcome your thoughts on extending the visa to enable me to complete an extended sailing skippers training programme that exceeds the 90 days. Many thanks. 😊
That wouldn’t be regarded as an emergency so they wouldn’t extend the 90 days for it. I can’t think of a way round that situation, unless there’s some kind of course you can get a student visa for.
If a person applies for a VISA or VISA extension from within Spain, can they leave and return to Spain without encountering problems at border control?
If you apply for a Schengen visa extension then it’s only short term, you’ll have no problem leaving Spain at the end of it and you won’t be expecting to return anyway.
The Schengen 90/180 rules apply to all third country nationals. It sounds like you’re also from a country where you need an actual Schengen Visa rather than having an automatic visa waiver, so you can only stay for 90 days within that year of validity on your visa.
Hallo. I hope you have a good day. I want to ask, if i already use 88 day in schengen area ( short visa visit ). And then i have new visa visit granted. Can i re entry schengen with my new visa ? Or i need to wait counted from 180 since the first arrival?
If they grant you a visa for a period of time then you can go for that period of time. But I imagine they wouldn’t grant you a second visa immediately if you’ve already used up your time.
@@youtoospain thankyou so much for the answer. If my first arrival date is 1 April 2024, When i can re enter schengen area? is my calculation correct, so i can enter schengen on 28 Sep 2024?
So I need help we use to come out to spain for 6months before Brexit. My father and his wife are british but have residency they live in Malaga region but have both become very ill My father has asked if I can come out to help him care for them but I'm finding it hard in how to extend my 90 days please can you help I don't want to move to spain as now we have left the eu it's a mine field I just want to be able to come out and stay for as long as possibly my dad is 84 I'm 63 not that my age helps it's just he is in poor health and so is his wife if you can point me in the right direction of extending my stay that would be appreciated
I’m afraid there’s no way of a UK citizen extending their stay without a residency visa. You might be able to get one as a family member acting as a carer, but you’d need to prove that your parents couldn’t look after themselves, which isn’t easy.
Very interesting Skats. Thank you for the excellent video. I contacted the Spanish consulate in Manchester to ask can I get a extension on the 90 days as we are having building work done on our next visit in October (All external leaking water pipes on the complex are being replaced). The consulate replied today saying they do not give personal advice🤪🤪. More like they can’t be bothered . Your video has come in very handy. Still have no idea if any of it applies to me! Jo
Sadly, building work doesn’t fit into any of the categories I’m afraid. I made the video because someone on a FB group had a car breakdown and it ended up stuck in the garage waiting for a part with them on day 89. There was no easy solution for them either. They’ll have to leave the car and get out of the country another way and wait a whole 90 days to return, or get it shipped over. Or get a friend to pick it up. Either way there’s no extension because it’s not a major disaster.
Skatz thank you so much for your prompt reply. It is a shame that the rules are so strict. However, we do understand their reasons as people do try and take advantage. Now looks like our dream is coming to an end. Thank you for all your valuable information. Jo
Hi sir I actually I got one year diploma course in Valencia... after one year can I extension visa... please give honest reply because it's my career... please I'm begging you please please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
No need to beg my friend, I always give an honest reply. People on student visas can apply to do another course, or find a job which will automatically give you a working visa
We are in Spain waiting for our residency decision which has been now 9 weeks, can we apply for an extension on our 90 day visa while we await a decision. As it looks like our application is going to take us over our allowed 90 days , great video as always and thank you for doing all the videos as they are so informative
Hi Peter, thanks, you don’t need an extension while your application is in progress. Your proof of application is the Resguardo that they should have given you at your appointment.
