My perfect moment is every day when I walk around screaming kids and think to myself "such a blessing I can live my life, doing decisions good for me, spending money on me and my partner, animals, vacations, education, having deep relationships with smart adults and do everything I like...and dont have to drag any poor human I brought into this life behind me"

They're so much in denial that they have to convince themselves you're not happy unless you have kids. It's really absurd.

Did they seriously dumb down "pregnancy nightmare" to mean worrying about weight gain and mood changes? Wow. I guess they forgot about the whole "risk of health complications which can include death" part. Not to mention the 100% certain complication of sacrificing so much of your life for another human being forevermore.

I've had perfect moments. When I met my hubby. When I first saw the Grand Canyon. When I took a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Sonora desert. The first time I heard my favorite lead singer shout my name across the room. The first time, I hugged Mickey Mouse. When I saw the Lion King in NYC and London. I could go on. You can have an amazing life without kids.

My perfect moment was when my husband got his vasectomy
But I will say at 4:55, my parents planned EVERYTHING and my dad had a decently high income. That didn’t stop my birth from costing them almost a million dollars out of pocket in multiple brain surgeries right when I was born. My grandparents were even richer than them and still working, thank goodness, and were more than happy to help safe my life, as their firstborn grandchild. So much can go wrong, and sometimes you can’t expect THAT kind of situation. And my mom told me stories of other parents who had to “let their baby go” if you catch my drift in the NICU because they couldn’t afford the healthcare costs nor the surgeries. It was something big on my mind when I was discussing kids with my husband.
And even as an adult, I still have medical costs that come from the aftermath of those lifesaving surgeries, mainly scarring around my organs, and it actually has me in chronic pain (though alive and cognitively healthy, which I was given only a 10% chance when I was born), and unable to safely bear children. It’s something no one takes into account. But it’s also something no one can truly be prepared for.
I ask anyone who wants to have kids if they have enough money for a lifesaving brain surgery. Most say “no, god will provide”. And it makes me think of all those other kids that could have been my age right now who had to have the plug pulled due to financial reasons.

@@WifeWithoutKids I’m so glad my family was rich. But it’s something no one talks about: health issues. It’s pushed as something that “never happens”. Never happens-my eye!

Thank you for sharing. That’s heartbreaking to know that parents have to “let their babies go” because they cannot afford the surgeries…

Yet another reason why I don't have kids. Barely made it affording basic utility Bills and a mortgage. So let's add a regular 10k cost for having a baby that's IF everything goes smoothly. If not, you're going to be in debt the rest of your life.
No thanks. I'd rather be miserable without kids then miserable trying to juggle kids and over 100k in medical Bills while I'm suffering through Postpartum depression.
