The history of a community built for Black residents when there were few places to live

The Great Migration began in 1910. That's when hundreds of thousands of Black people relocated from the south to the north.
Because of our location on the edge, the city saw a large increase in its Black population. Many moved to the city's West End, which became overcrowded, but one local banker wanted to help house those who worked hard for their wages: bit.ly/3JMwpnY
