EVERYBODY who sees and hears this (and also Gethsemane, from Jesus Christ Superstar) for the first time says, "Dan belongs on the musical theater stage!" I think Dan could walk out of his studio in Brazil and onto any Phantom stage in the world. Not only is this perfectly sung, but he also conveys the mixture of seductiveness and creepiness in the character. Dan has extensive classical training, as others have said- his real love is power metal, and he set out to become a great singer because of that, but along the way he mastered singing in almost any genre you can think of. Metal technique, like classical technique, requires extensive and specific training, but you need to be able to sing "normal" music (if there is such a thing) before you can sing metal well. Please do check out the Gethsemane scene, another gorgeous and heartrending triumph of singing and acting. For something lighter, more delicate, and deeply emotional, I suggest his cover of Billy Boyd 's lovely ballad The Last Goodbye.
