  • Cook bread in a Slow Cooker / Crock Pot using low power and energy! You need only 100 Watts and 200 Watt hours when using a 2 quart Crock Pot. Cook it in an afternoon and have it ready in time for dinner! Great while camping and off-grid!
The 2 quart Crock Pot can be purchased from Walmart for $12
www.walmart.co... Amazon has these slow cookers, but low stock, so higher priced. The 4 quart Crock Pot works great also, but uses more energy (200 Watt hours per hour on high). If that doesn't matter to you, the 4 quart is very versatile and sells for $20 at my local Walmart. Both these are manual. There are others available that will automatically switch to warm, etc.
All this equipment was purchased by me and the video is not sponsored.
    Recipe:
Same Day Slow Cooker Bread - Low Energy Cooking Off-Grid
    Prep Time: 15 mins
    Rise Time: 1 hour
    Cook Time: 2 hours
Cooling Time: 1 to 2 hours
    Total Time: 4 ¼ hours
    Ingredients
    2 ½ cups bread flour
    1 ½ teaspoons fine salt
1 ½ teaspoons instant dry yeast
1 cup lukewarm water (less than 115 degrees F)
Parchment Paper is a must to help prevent sticking
Toasted sesame seeds and fresh herbs optional
Mix flour, salt and yeast together in a mixing bowl with a tight fitting lid (8 cup min).
Add water to the flour mixture.
Mix together using the narrow end of a wooden or plastic spoon. Start on the outside of the bowl and working inward, until the mixture is evenly combined and no the flour has been incorporated. The dough should be tacky but not wet. Add a very small amount of flour or water if needed and mix in.
Cover the container with the lid. Let the dough rise for one hour at room temperature. Should the room be drafty or cool, cover the closed container with a kitchen towel to maintain heat.
Preheat the crock pot for a few minutes until bottom is warm. Cut a piece of parchment paper to line the bottom of the pot with an inch coming up the sides. Place the dough in the slow cooker and cook on high for two hours. An instant read thermometer inserted into the loaf should read between 200 and 210 degrees F. (Leave the bread in the slow cooker for an additional 30 minutes if more browning on the sides and bottom is desired).
When done after about two hours, the surface of the loaf should be dry. The top of the crust will not brown, but the sides and bottom will lightly brown. Remove from the slow cooker and tap the bottom of the loaf - it should sound hollow. If you like a browner crust, the loaf can be placed under a broiler. Toast if desired.
    Enjoy!

It is amazing how little power some of these devices use!!!

I uploaded the soup recipe today! I used canned tomatoes in the video- it is even better with fresh tomatoes!

Very good idea! I am always looking for new ideas for the Bluetti I have. Our slow cooker is gigantic, so will be picking up this smaller unit. Thanks for the video .

I really like the small Bluetti - I use it quite often because it is so convenient!

A Bluetti EB3A was used to power the slow cooker. It has a 600 Watt inverter.
To cook this bread, 200 Watthours of energy total were used. Two hours to cook in a 2 Quart Crock Pot. For inverter power, 100 Watts were needed.

Looks absolutely wonderful and so easy! Can't wait to make it using my Jackery Portable power station. Wonderful to know it can be done, thank you!

Thanks So Much Mike Man!!!!!! I have just finished the tomato soup video to go with the bread! I used my induction cooktop to cook the soup. The cooktop was powered by my Montek 1000 portable power station - maybe that will give you other things to use your Jackery with!
Thanks so much for your comment!

This is awesome! I used to have a little Crock Pot like that, but it eventually was acting wonky so I retired it. I have been thinking about picking up another though as they're so power friendly and versatile. Making bread in it never crossed my mind though!

I think that I originally saw the crockpot on your channel - which is why I hunted it down! 😀

I think a viewer actually sent it to me. I was shocked at how little power it used and how well it worked!

That looks good; I'll be over for a taste! How many watts were left on Your EB3a ? Or how many watts did your Kill-a-watt say it took; I could not read it in your video. I have bought two of those EB3a's. Maybe a little small but they charge up really fast.

      Hi Kevin
I was at 1 percent when done. The meter read 177, but it was actually more as I accidentally turned off the power station during cooking. As close as I could piece the video together, it was 200 Watt-hours.
The bread was actually quite good and I stored it inside the crockpot!
I figured it would be close, but it actually made it! I did have the Montek on standby 😃
I have made three loaves so far with that crockpot and all are the same within a few watt hours. If one cooks it a bit longer, it does get a bit browner.
I am thinking I may get an Eco Flow River 2 Pro when they are for sale. It has an 800
Watt inverter and I will be able to power my 3 quart Instant pot. I can also run an induction cooktop with that size inverter at a medium level

@@KatysCampKitchen I have the two EB3a's and they charge quickly on a100 watt panel. I guess; weather permitting you could use the charge-through function and just hook a panel to the EB3a. I have a 600-watt inverter in my humble little A-frame. I would need to modify your recipe to whole wheat flour due to my dietary constraints. Thank you for all your videos and I look forward to the next ones.
