  • Bird At 5:04! Railroad Diamond For Norfolk Southern & Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad. Short Line Railroad Action In Logansport, Indiana. Includes a Norfolk Southern local coming and going, a fast train in Peru and another train crossing the diamond. One train was led by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotive and had huge articulated auto racks cars. Have you ever seen auto racks this big?
When I first got to Logansport the TP&W Railroad was doing some switching across the diamond. Notice the Indiana & Ohio locomotives that they were using. I have probably filmed these same locomotives in the Cincinnati area. Genesee & Wyoming owns both the I&O and the TP&W. TP&W was founded in 1989. It is normal to see locomotives moved around various short lines that have the same owners. Some of the locomotives that I have filmed on the CCET have been moved to lines in the Walla Walla area in Washington state that are owned by the same group. I did not notice the bird until a day after I put this video together. I was watching The Railroad Tie Spiker channel and noticed that he got the bird from the same guy. After the train passed him I was at a railroad crossing west of him and I got the bird also. lol. I know its hard to see but to add a closeup picture of it to this video would require the video to have to be completely redone and downloaded.
After the railroad switching is done we see the whole train pass by westbound and then we see a closeup of the rail at an interesting connection of two different size rails. Heavier pound rail ( 136 pounds per yard ) was used for the nearby railroad crossing.
After that we see a Norfolk Southern local come and go and we see a long NS through freight. I had technical difficulties filming that one so I missed the middle of the train. After that we went about 22 miles to the east and caught a fast freight train at Peru Junction. This video goes along with the video that I posted recently showing a Triple Crown Road Railer train crossing the diamond in Logansport, Indiana. See that video for more information about the Road Railer.
This video ends with the pets and the slide show that comes from this video. I rode up here with Scott 1960gambit and we caught the same Road Railer twice. It is a rare train that does not use railroad cars and has only one route. You have to see that video son!
Filmed Wedsday, June 14, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Completely unconvinced by your claim that the engineer of IORY 5014 is flipping you off. It's not at all visible in your video. railroadtiespiker made the same claim on his video, where the footage was a bit clearer. All I saw, even in that video, was that the engineer's hand was out of the cab window, with his middle finger straight-ish and the other fingers loosely bent against the cab side. There's nothing even close to a clenched fist. If he's flipping you off, it's the most passive version of that gesture I've seen in my life.

I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary as far as getting flipped off or anything similar thing happened once in my neck of the woods only somebody took it the wrong way and shot at the crew after getting flipped off by the conductor and of course the conductor got shot in the neck even though they were going at a good speed still this guy was good at shooting and he actually shot the guy in the neck and they had to stop the train and it was a whole slew of things that just happened from there on and because of that they barred any railroad filming and other things because they ended up redoing the roadway and when they did that they made no parking allowed for railroad enthusiasts and it's now difficult to film any trains in my city now without getting penalized because of that incident I swear the government is getting worse but they got to do what they got to do I guess but it's a shame that it was leading up to that point where it needed violence in order for that to even happen I didn't even expect that at all and didn't even know that it took place until it did a few days afterwards it's the guns that are getting weird along with these foamers who just continue to get worse in my neck of the woods at least trespassing all over the place carrying guns shooting at train crews you name it all because they got flipped off by one of the train crews and it wasn't worth it

@@myrnawashington9057 First they started out as standard flats with a frame for an upper deck. Later the frames were added to 65 ft. TTX flats and later the 80 footers. Back in the 30s some autos were suspended by the front end in boxcars with sides hinged at the bottom which could then drop down like ramps. Little damage resulted in transit but loading and unloading were tedious. I believe NYC pioneered this but I could be wrong.

It's a great spot for railfans. There were at least a half dozen of us there near the diamond. I want to get back there and get a Triple Crown while I can

Thank you for this video of the other trains that you saw at Logansport and Peru, Indiana when you went to those two cities to capture a Road Railer train. The Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad switching the rail yard in Logansport, Indiana was interesting to watch.

There has been some commentary from numerous fans along the TP&W system and ever since G&W the employees are not as friendly as they used to be. Ive Got a Feeling This Crew was on the verge of Take This Job and Shove It. After shifting cars in high humidity as this unit does not have AC and they may run out of time on the road. The sight of four guys running around with cameras at every which angle may have pushed the envelope. As for the autorack missing the side panels it most likely was headed to the transkol repair facility in Logansport. This is an old PRR shop and has an interesting 3 story mural off two hobos jumping into a boxcar. Hobo Shoestring would be proud

Didn't see anyone flipping you off. But I wouldn't be surprised, I remember when that conductor on the CCET was calling you a pedo.

Mother in Law lives in Ossian Indiana... Just south of Ft Wayne. She was joking with us about having to plan extra time getting anywhere because of the train crossings. She wasn't kidding..

Have to look really close at the 5:04 mark. You can see it better in the railroad tie spiker channel. Mine requires a big screen to see it very well. I would have shown a close-up if I noticed it before I made the video

We don't care if you count the cars but if you or anybody must count the engines first 6 excels each then get the total axcel count from the detector ad the total devide by 4 and subtract the engine axcels and you will get the car count.
