    You did not mention how Defence Reactions occasionally do damage.
    Thinking of Wild Swing, and Steelblade Shunt. For Brute and Warrior respectively.
    This is (as far as I know) one of the only guaranteed ways to deal damage, as long as the requirements are met.
    There is no way to prevent this damage, so if you are stuck with a tenacious opponent on his last health, it could be a game changer.

    Finally, this makes sense. I kept reading the rulebook and just couldn't get my head wrapped around this. And I was having a tough time finding this kind of straightforward explanation like you just gave. Thanks a ton for this. Please please keep making more videos like this. I'm new to FAB and this content really helps me understand gameplay. Cheers.

      Agree, the guide book don’t make any sense. I ended up debating for 20 minutes how defense reactions work against a opponent. He was trying to tell me I couldn’t play defense reactions unless he played attack reactions first. I wouldn’t just block using a attack action card with block. I would pass, and ask if he wanted to play a attack reaction. He would say no and I would play defense reactions. He was like you can’t do play defense reactions. The quite book on this topic was useless. I end up taking out all my defense reactions to just play!

    Another super useful video! A suggestion for another video to do as I'm getting questions about it, would be the arsenal, when to use it, what can be used from it and when, when you can put cards into it or play cards from it and such. Would be super useful for newer players, keep up awesome work!

    This might be the most valuable piece of information you need to get your head around for playing flesh and blood. This and how the arsenal actually works. Afterwards you get to know the heroes and their unique abilities, learn all the cards in a set, draft and will have an awesome time. Thanks @DMArmada.

    Can a 'defense reaction' react to an 'attack reaction' and visa versa back and forth multiple times by each player in the same chain link? Or Just one 'attack reaction' and one 'defense reaction' for each chain link started?

    • @DMArmada
      @DMArmada  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Definitely! In the reaction step, the attacking player may start playing attack reactions, and then they must pass to the defending player (they may also pass without playing reactions). The defending player may then play defense reactions or pass immediately back to the attacker. The attacker then may play another attack reaction or pass, and the defending player can play more defense reactions or pass. This back and forth continues until both players pass successively.

    This video is a huge help. I think I was playing wrong beforehand. The only question I could think of that wasn't cleared up was when you play staunch response and pay 2. The text reads that as an additional cost you may pay 4 etc. Is that 4 additional to the 2 which is 6 which sounds incredibly expensive or is that 4 instead of 2 to get the +3 defense? Clearing that up would help me greatly!

    • @DMArmada
      @DMArmada  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, so if you pay the the additional 4, it'll block for more. It's pretty expensive!

  • @ashvanheerde2878
    @ashvanheerde2878 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice video, so you can not play a defence reaction in the defend step purely for it’s defence value, not paying it’s cost and not resolving the text?

    • @DMArmada
      @DMArmada  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's correct, they can only be played in the reaction step, paying their cost and gaining their text.

    Old video so I don't know if tou will answer but in 5:07 you said if the defensive player pass and the attacker pass then the reaction step ends so my question is the following:
    Does the attacking player gets two opportunities to react before the reaction step is closed or only one?
    Example:
    If I use an attack action with 5 atk and the defensive player plays a card as defense with 3 def, we then enter the reaction step, the attacking player skips his reaction and the defense player does the same, does the attacking players has another change to attack react, or is the reaction step closed?

    • @DMArmada
      @DMArmada  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, attacking player has the first opportunity, but if both players pass reactions then it's over. Use it or lose it (so to speak)!

  • @charlesjacobs295

    So I know this is an older video but if I use Reduce to Runechant as my defense reaction and I have a Runechant token on board does that mean by its text that I in fact do not pay the cost since it reduces it by 1 for each Runechant that I control? So no resource (since I won't have any on my opponent's turn) and no action point?

    Thanks for the video. I have a quick questions about defense.
    Does excess defense carry over? Say my opponent plays ninja and makes a series of 1-damage attacks across 3 chain links. Would using a card with 3 defense against the first attack, leave me with 2 unused defense which would carry over to the next chain link? Or does the unused defense fizzle when Chain Link 1 closes?

    • @markuschaosdude2299
      @markuschaosdude2299 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One defense reaction only blocks for one of these 1 power attacks and you take 1+1 dmg from the other two attacks.

  • @thebannedking1107
    @thebannedking1107 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    After hearing the “you can’t regularly defend with a defense reaction” makes me think they should’ve left that zone blank for it (like attack reactions attack) and make the additional block be in the effect... because after all if it’s “logical” to assume and that’s not the way it works - that’s not good game design
