- Golf is a major reason that so many people decide to move to The Villages, Florida. 42 executive courses are free for residents to play. There are four different designation of courses based upon their difficulty. In today's video Jerry and Linda show you the Sarasota executive golf course. It is a 9 hole course right in the middle of a fantastic golf facility. Take a look at the layout as Linda plays a round. Today's round took about one hour and 25 minutes. That is typical for a round on an executive course. Come along and check it out..

Linda, get yourself a can of Dr. Scholls foot powder. Spray it on the face of your driver at the range. The ball will leave an impression so you can see where it's hitting the club and you can make corrects from there. Helped me a lot! I would be very interested in videos of the other courses to see the different levels of golf. If there's an additional cost we can discuss off TH-cam about that.
Thanks for taking me along on your golf outing. I've only played golf once in my life and that was on the lifestyle tour in The Villages. It was a lot of fun and I was very surprised at how much exercise I got out of it. Linda did a great job out there! Thanks for this video. Linda might be a tiny girl, but she is a powerhouse . I have to learn the golf "lingo " and the rules before I play. Thanks for the COVID tip. I have 3 brothers who golf, and want to visit me. No golf for them , until Sept. This is sad!

I'm not a very good golfer, but love to play. When we get to the Villages I was afraid of playing with people who where much better than me and would be annoyed by my inexperience. It was nice to see Linda playing, enjoying herself and being relaxed. This episode has given me confidence in playing with others and just having a good time. Thank you Jerry and Linda.
So many people start playing once they move here. You won't stand out in a bad way.

“Drive for show, putt to go”, was what I was constantly told, when I was a “Fun Niner”. Linda you did very, very well! You would be nice to have in a group, as you play a relaxing game, some people feel too intense for my liking. A lovely course. I like the viewing benches in the shade. Jeanne
Loved the golf commentary. I have played only once and had no clue what I was doing...I learned a lot from the video.
Greens look a lot like my lawn. We’re having a drought in Duluth. I think you’re great, Linda. I have terrible hand to eye coordination. I’d be lucky actually just hitting the ball. Thanks for the golf outing.

Well done Linda! Sorry about your slip in the garage Jerry, we'll be adding texture to the top of our epoxy sealed garage floor, thanks for reminding us why we should add texture. Really enjoyed watching Linda play, I hadn't seen the hybrid club before, of course I haven't played in more than 20 years. Hoping to be out there playing with you soon.

Linda, that is great golf for just one year.
I've been at the Sarasota driving range on my visits, one day the guy next to me was wearing two pairs of pants, cargo and long pants. I asked him why he was wearing two pairs of pants and he told me in case I get a "hole in one".

Great golf game Linda! Perhaps when Jerry is no longer "injured" you can film his golf game, LOL. We started golfing last January after moving here in Oct 18. Have enjoyed it and it is so much easier to get tee times in the summer. We regularly play all the different level courses from 1 - 4 finding all of them offer different challenges. A great place to learn golf. Anyone looking to take lessons at Sarasota, I would highly recommend Craig Griffin, PGA pro and former caddy for many players to include Tiger Woods. Hey, Jerry and Linda! I love my beautiful home in middle Tennessee and I've never been on a golf course in my life. Still, while I'll never find myself on a Villages golf course, I loved watching this video. The skies and landscaping are beautiful and I picked up a few beginning tips with your playing and commentary. Lots of fun with this one...thanks so much. :-)

Great video love watching . Your doing great Linda, do you play regularly or just occasionally. I have been paying for years but only get to play a few times a year so I am not very good. Looking forward to playing on a regular basis when we get there. Love watching all the activities . One tiny request, can you tell us weather conditions and time of day when you do these things. I am a little concerned about the heat. Thanks feel better Jerry.
I've never really understood it, but I have observed that many female golfers are more confident on the tee box than they are on the putting green. You can even see it with the LPGA touring pros. Linda is no different. Many of her tee shots were pretty good and I could see she had confidence. But, you can tell from Linda's body language as she puts that she almost gives up even as she starts her backstroke. A video analysis by a clubhouse pro and a lesson focusing strictly on putting might give her a better routine and boost her up. Go for it Linda! I expect to see birdie "shots" in the near future!

We just got back from playing golf at the pitch and putt in Marsh Bend. It was the third time that I've golfed. I'm not sure I'm ready for the Sarasota golf course. Good game Linda! Jerry get better soon! Thanks for another great video!

Well, that was FUN! First of all, Jerry...I do hope you feel better after your fall. But, I have to say, you make a good golf commentator. But, holy mackerel, you broke the cardinal rule! You NEVER, EVER mention a woman's weight. LOL! That 115 LBS comment may have you sleeping in the garage for a few nights! But, hey, it is warm in Florida so no harm done! And, you are most likely safe...because 115 LBS is NOT heavy! And, Linda...very impressed with your golf game...seriously...golf is not an easy game to master and for only playing 1 year, you hit the ball well! Keep practicing your putting...your putting stroke looks pretty good...just a matter of more practice. But, the bottom line is to just go out there and have fun! Thanks for the video...keep them coming! And all the best to GIZ! Speaking of GIZ, what happened to the dog who played golf? He hit his ball into the "RUFF." (Sorry...I apologize for that one!)
Linda is really a good golfer for someone who has only been doing it for a year....like any new golfer her troubles are with the putter....Jerry hope you feel better soon and get back on the course

Yes, she took a group lesson package. snd several individual lessons. We have the textured floor too... still went down!

Could you do a video on the difference between the executive courses and the championship courses? My husband is a better player than I am but I feel like I would like the challenge of the championship course better maybe. We are visiting for a month in December.... looking to golf A LOT!

2 things that will help Linda with her game.. Practice putting for 15 min a day, either inside the house on a putting carpet made for putting(u can buy these from amazon) or on a practice putting green for 10-15 min a day... And 2. When you are off the green and chipping to the pin, instead of hitting a chip shot with a wood, try using a pitching wedge or a sand wedge to chip. Ball flys higher and stops better than with a wood..Your full swing looks good..Improve your putting and chipping--You'll be shooting 30-31 on a par 27 course in no time..

Great content as always! I’d love to see future videos that show the varying skill levels of the other executive courses. One question. I know that play requires a tee time, but is there anytime of the day when you can walk on without one, like late afternoon/evening for example?
You can walk on anytime if there is an opening. Easy, especially late in the day.

Beautiful fun video. I'm not a big fan of the epoxy on the garage floor or the all tile in the homes as I get older. Thompson water seal is safer in the garage and carpeting inside the house for me to avoid falls.. Is their a four dollar cart fee you pay or is the golf totally free?
Free if you walk. If you ride you either pay an annual trail fee or $4 each time.

are there driving ranges?... and are they free to villagers?... i really like the placement of the holes... i used to golf a course that had the worst hole locations... you would be 2 inches from the hole and your ball would 180 and roll right back toward you... totally rune the game for me... rules say hole needs flat about two feet circumference around the hole... using driver for par 3... i do the same...

Very enjoyable video, just like the pro’s. I’m working up the nerve to start golf. Linda, did you get fitted for clubs before you started lessons? Did you buy a set or individual clubs?
You will enjoy it. I borrowed the clubs until I discovered that I really enjoyed golf. Then I went and was fitted for a set of clubs. It is easy to find used sets. You just have to find one that fits you. You don't want to buy a set a club at a time because you will want them to match. Good luck and hit 'em straight!

You can buy a trail pass for your household... total cost $141 per year or you can pay $4 each time you ride.

i suppose the golf is always schedule but is the putt and play and the chip and putt have open times?... and do you generally play "ready play"?
The pitch and putt needs reservations unless you would just be lucky enough to walk up and they would have an opening.

Yes, a series of five group lessons... very, very basic.

If there is an opening a single can play. If anyone else comes they can be paired with you. In The Villages you will often find yourself playing with strangers.

You can play any of the championship courses. To play the executive courses you need to have a guest pass.

You can squeeze in anytime there is an opening.
