- Golfing the Villages is an independent channel dedicated to bringing you all the golf related content from The Villages. The Villages is a 55+ active senior retirement community located in central Florida. We are located about an hour away north of Orlando, and about and hour and a half from Tampa Bay.
This particular video is an on course golf vlog which was filmed and played on July 23, 2023 at Southern Oaks Golf Club Championship golf course. This championship course features five different teeing locations and plays from 6500 yards from the tips (Gold Tees) down to 4000 yards from the friendly tees. The front nine is playing 3184 total today and we are playing from the rear Gold tees known as the tips. The course is looking nice as we are in the growing season and you can see the greens are in nice shape when compared with some of the other championship courses you have seen in my recent videos. Considering the amount of play that the golf courses in The Villages receive they are usually in really good shape. Nevertheless, sit back, relax and enjoy the sights, sounds, and people who all call this gorgeous place of The Villages home.

… our home is in Newell, but we are “snowbirds” (will be back in Oct) and I have not had the pleasure of playing Southern Oaks yet (this is closest championship course to us)

My pleasure I am glad you enjoyed it and Thank You for watching. The final round of aerification for the championship courses which includes Southern Oaks runs from August 6 until August 30. (unless "TV" amends the schedule) Nevertheless by the time you return to us the course will be in prime shape for plenty of winter enjoyment.

I’m looking at buying in villages as I like the golf included. I read that all the executive courses are included, but read they are mostly par 3 courses. How much is it to play championship courses if own in villages? Thanks
Hello, Executive's are mostly Par 3's however some courses have a Par 4 or two sprinkled in. They are included but the ability to take your own golf cart is not, if you wish to take your own personal golf cart on the Executive Course you must pay for the trail fee. $4.00 a round, 6 months $105.93, or Yearly $141.24 with Tax Per the Villages website. Yeah I agree, the 3 iron is getting harder to hit as I am getting older I think that is the way to go.
