I agree! I'd also love to know where you got the camp clothes he was wearing in Act 3, because I'm starting to think my Tav would look good in his camp clothes 👀
The problem with Wyll is actually he’s too perfect. All the other companions have complex and interesting issues/problems to help resolve them. Hate to make this statement, but he’s treated as a Mary Sue. He Doesnt really do anything that wrong or have much character growth And even him selling his soul is not really that bad because it doesn’t hurt anybody other than himself.
@@americantitan2190 I don't consider Wyll a Mary Sue he does have a complex story you just have to go hunting for it my one major critique for him is that unlike all the other characters it's almost like Larry and studio put the bare minimum with him and gave up on his story so he does have genuinely nice moments you just have to really go hunting for them unlike everyone else who is basically oozing "feel bad for me" right out the gate (he also has the best introduction while all of the other characters are mostly like "hi there same brain worm wanna team up")
@@hollzie_chu8609 that’s kind of my point he’s not a bad person but he by far has the most wasted potential of any companions. The big act three choice basically comes out of nowhere when if they had been building up to it could’ve been so much better. Like imagine if he knew he was going to have to make that choice eventually on to save himself or his father since middle of act 1. It would actually make him have some serious internal dilemma/conversations with himself and Tav. Also, while his story is a little complicated, I just find it hard to be sympathetic to somebody that doesn’t value their own life the way he doesn’t. His selflessness actually hurts how much I care about him.
He is, but his story is just plain neglected. He has the least dialogue out of all the origin characters at 8 hours, 2 hours less than the second last (Karlach), while everyone else is around 10-12 hours. Additionally most of Wyll’s dialogue revolves around Mizora instead of having any one on one time.
honestly, I think him being a mary sue is okay since he kinda fills out the "fairy tale prince" archetype in some ways. He also reminds me of a DND player that can only do good things. The recent DND movie had a character a lot like him and it just makes sense to me for a player to just be like that, especially if they were a Dragon Age fan beforehand (where if you mess up like one or two dialogue options your whole story could be ruined.) My first playthrough of this game was me making goody-goody responses and Wyll was my greatest ally for that. Minthara is there if I wanna do the complete opposite, so everyones happy. I do wish they added more to Wyll's story though. But even moreso for Karlach. @@americantitan2190
I gave up this sweet PERFECT man for Astarion 😭😭 the man who slept with me for protection and didn’t want to put “labels” on our relationship. I love him but seeing how great Wyll is makes me have ragrets.
Astarion's a sweet talker for sure. I don't regret romancing him. The moment he begins to trust you enough to open up about his past is something I won't forget. Trust me, I know from experience that it's hard to get someone who has gone through the sheer amount of torture and abuse that he has to trust you fully. The facade he fronts is realistic. Most victims of physical and sexual abuse are physically and mentally incapable of trusting anybody fully, and it shows in Astarion. Intimacy with someone they should trust disgusts them, but some feel the need to act as if all is well. The nail in the coffin is when he brings you to the cemetery. He is at his most vulnerable, yet he knows he's finally safe from his haunting past with you. He then decides to use intimacy (one of the very things that caused his trauma) as a way to overcome his past, rather than live in it like he used to. They wrote his character well - a bit too well for those with similar experiences. But Wyll is special too. He gave up his life and relationship with his father to make a deal with a devil to become a hero. The fact that he doesn't hide behind a facade like Astarion is refreshing. But remember, he embraces what could've been trauma. Astarion lives in the past, afraid that it'll catch up to him (and he is right.) Wyll takes his past and twists it - he says signing Mizora's pact and becoming estranged from his father was the right thing to do. That obviously *should* be false, yet he finds a way to make it seem true. Denial at its finest. He's an odd character, Wyll. Less complex than Astarion, but not as prone to avoidance, living in the past, or leaving out truths about it entirely. For a nice mix of both, I suggest Karlach. She lives in the past and is haunted by it, much like Astarion. But instead of focusing on it, which undoubtedly makes trauma worse, she tries to block it out. That's not the best way to deal with trauma, might I add, but one way of many. She, too, is thirsty for revenge and power. There are many similarities between the two, but the most obvious difference? Astarion likes when you do evil deeds. The trauma he experienced for nearly 200 years affected his ability to feel sympathy/empathy for others, which is very much a symptom in abuse and torture victims. But Karlach wanted to get away from that. She escaped Zariel and Avernus to do good for the world. Astarion wants vengeance for his cruel past. Karlach wants to hope for the future. It's your choice.
Astarion is a complex character, but my god is he worth it, and if you play a Dark Urge it’s even better. They shared a writer so they have a lot of special dialogue between them. I’ve never romanced Wyll, I unfortunately keep him on the bench until Act 3
I wish this epilogue ending had more romance in it. I did the same path on my Wyll romance run. Feel like the romance ending, where he’s the Duke is more in line with his story. This romance ending feels more about Karlach… Made me feel like the third wheel.
You can’t romance all 3. Gale and Wyll are not polyamorous so they’ll dump you if you try to date more than the one of them. And Astarion will only accept poly if it’s with Halsin.
@@manniimoo I get Gale & Wyll but never understood it with Astarion...allowing you to "do" Halsin makes him feel less wanted so why is he okay with it?
Dude I just got the cutscene in act 2 with Astarion after trying to romance Wyll. I romanced Astarion in my first playthrough so I wanted to be different this time. But old habits die hard and I love Astarion TOOO much to hurt him. I HATE HURTING WYLL TOO.
Of course, you can romance him after killing Karlach. The only difference is whether he remains human or turns into a partial devil. P.s. And while you are celebrating with the tieflings, he on the beach will regret the murder of Karlach, and not the fact that he is now a devil (I think this is weird o-0)
Love how your tav is wearing his camp clothes in the act 3 scene. Nice storytelling there, whether intentional or not
I appreciate it 😊
I agree! I'd also love to know where you got the camp clothes he was wearing in Act 3, because I'm starting to think my Tav would look good in his camp clothes 👀
if i am being honest, the “there will be another time for us” line was the moment i realized my tav was gonna romance this man
but his monologue about time is yet another reason why i think he and karlach are literally soul mates
I loved all the romances but Wyll's is my favorite. My only complaint is I wish there were more cutscenes with him because he's too adorable ❤️
He proposes with an acorn?
That rules
Is that ice spice? 👀
It was not my intention to create ice spice but I must admit they look a like. Thanks for the comment
I’m dyinggggg because my first thought was exactly this 😂😂😂
my first thought was “ice spice what are you doing here?” 🤣💀
It is now.. 😂😂
Think u the sh*t Wyll? U not even da fart
