I hope it’s just how the footage was captured but the frame rate looks terrible, it actually gives me a sense of motion sickness that early FPS’s gave me.
I have 70 hours played and still loving the game , tho ... There are a lot of frame drops on the buggy ans V-Rally Cross disciplines. The rest of the disciplines run pretty good.
@@travisv6408 Tell me. Is there any good racing game than V-Rally 4 on Switch ???? Gezzz ... The blur , the graphics , bla bla. You can play this on the go !!!! @@KEVINDMASTAH What are you talking about. Higher framerate means higher responsiveness and better performance. That always translates to a better gameplay experience

I have around 25+ hours on the switch version. The controls definitely take a long time to get used to, but you absolutely can get used to it even with digital throttle, and it's extremely satisfying once you do get used to it. Occasional performance issues, and occasional odd physics, but still an enjoyable experience. I recommend getting it on sale, or full price if you're really itching for a rally racer.
I wonder if you can remap the right analog stick to be the gas and brake. It's annoying as hell, but it's been a while that I've been trying to see how they would handle this hurdle. Why Nintendo... Why no analog trigger support.
Has anyone thought to use the gamecube controller for analog? I dont have the game but i do have the controllers and it registers as a pro controller so it should work.
@SennaFan Generation has nothing to do with power. It's release timing. It came after the Wii U, therefore it's a generation ahead. The PS2, Wii, DS, Wii U and 3DS were all noticeably less powerful than their direct competitors, yet are still officially all in their own respective generations (6, 7, 8).
@SennaFan I never said it was less powerful than the PS1. I said it was less powerful than its competitors - referring to the GameCube and original Xbox.
Its very nuanced in its control once you learn the car and how to get it through cleanly its fun but i wish it had a better varity of tracks and certain disciplines had more cars like rally cross and hill climb
I miss when racing games were just races. You pick a cup with a set of tracks, and you compete for the best position. That's all they need to be. Instead every game is now a mish mash of different "missions" in a completely arbitrary order, forcing you to do dumb shit you don't want to do, with vehicles you don't want to use.
its a nuts set up but I got analog on the switch with the 8bitdo pro 2 by swapping the stick with the trigger and fixing the controls to compliment that. idk why exactly this works but nothing simpler works but thats how it be.
You complain about the lack of analog triggers, but did you even check if the game allows you to use the right analog stick? Which btw, is a much better way to play for the same reason analog triggers are better than digital. Analog gives you more precise control vs digital right? Well that's exactly what using the right analog does, and it happens to give you the same magnitude of a control improvement as well (16 fold). Hook up a controller to an app or game that measures the analog input as a number, you'll see analog triggers only go 0 to 16, while an analog goes from 0 to 256 from the center to the maximum in any direction. 16 times more precision. I'm telling you, even in an arcade racer like drive club it makes a gigantic difference to use the analog vs using the triggers. People just don't do it because they're not used to it or unaware of how much better it is factually
This game doesn't look good at all. It seems you guys captured the footage from a stream as well or it's heavily compressed. Don't know, but the IQ and framerate look horrific because of that capture.
Racing games on a console not able to handle 60+ frames and the fact that the controllers don't have analoge triggers make almost every racing game unplayable. The presentation/ visuals reminded me of a PSP game called Ridge Racer. Ridge Racer is now 15 years old!
Analog triggers are overrated. I can drive a 1000hp beast in Gran Turismo with the x button for acceleration with no exit oversteer. It's all about the tune and proper driving. While the option for analog is nice (as GT gives that option with the right joystick) it isn't neccesary. The real issue really isn't about analog, it is about this insistent use of crap camera angles with racers. I loathe the arcade style camera angle that isn't locked on to the rear of the car. Sure it's not as "exciting" but it allows you to view the corner apex correctly as you would in cockpit view. Shift had this issue and with it you were never able to tune your car correctly because you were dealing not only with the crap grip in the game causing oversteer but you were also dealing with the camera angle exaggerating that oversteer.
frame rate looks too jumpy sorry, unless that's your capture card? Also, from what I have heard, V Rally 4 was not a great game to begin with.. But I am kind of desperate being on switch.. All i have a futuristic or arcade racing (mario kart, fast rmx, grip).. The other thing I can't understand, with the switch not having analog triggers, is why no one will make a racing game for it where the right stick is used for acceleration and braking. Which is analog. Surely it could be an option if they don't think it will be favoured by all. Anyway I keep to seemingly get the message that if I want home console racing games to get an xbox one X....
See? Just watched the rest of the review.. my idea of right stick acceleration would solve everything.. The pro controller's analog sticks are sublime and would be perfect for this. And yes of course it is the fault of the game.. Port it to the switch, program for switch version. Of course handheld mode issues are 100% Nintendo's fault as they refuse to provide an optional mode for full speed when the product is in handheld mode and powered by the wall adapter. Silly.
I play Gran turismo with the x button and have one of the fastest lap times for cars when compared to collected lap times on the Internet. While I appreciate the choice to use analog, it is a crutch for those that want to complain. If you are incapable of not driving good without analog you wont drive good with it.
not with dirt based games mate.. If you can even do the tutorial course as intended, for example, in trials rising WITHOUT using analog throttle, then please let me know.. cause I absolutely can not. V rally would strongly benefit from analog throttle. For road racers and futuristic racers I have no issue with digital throttle.@@7James77
