See you don't have to know a lot about them in order to become their fan / army . This condition applies to everyone idol/ k-pop group or celebrities.
If you want to become their fan because all your friends are ,then that is wrong because some people just pretend to the army in order to be in order to fit in massive gen -z culture.
But if you want to become army because your heart is saying then that's excellent . Because one feel a strong connection and a sense of knowing with the k-pop group that make them a fan.
Just see them and you will automatically become a dye hard fan without even knowing. But remember the above mentioned point .

Damn can't relate more. Regarding the over protective part though I think it is okay to be protective over them in a healthy way. I do however get your context though, a smallest insult about BTS can trigger you off. Small or big insult is an insult and instead of engaging with haters let's just report them and block them off.
