I live in Oregon, we had an AWFUL freeze this last winter, my eucalyptus had easily a 1/2" of ice on the leaves, it never died off, it actually went into super growth mode when spring and summer hit, its about 9' tall. By far my favorite plant!!!
Sherry it looks like you didn't return to the site - i live in S France and it sounds like it needs to be above freezing or it will die off - not worth paying for then unless it can go into a porch affair.
Looks like a selection of E. pulverulenta, which does very well outdoors here in SC. It starts flowering after it reaches 5 ft. It has a very distinctive sculptural growth habit.
Great info But can i say i think i got extremely lucky with mine last year. Had it in a pot . Neglected it so badly alongside my mint. Brought it into the garden in February i literally just found a pic in camera from its forever home planting . Well... 8 months on the thing is taking over my pathway . It is so tall and wide and beautiful with a gravel lawn. Strangers stop and ask about it. They think it is fake. My husband joked saying the only thing it is missing is koala bears now. Ive never used any special soil or any care . It is a lusious beast of a tree now. Oh and did i mention i live in Northern Ireland. 😂 Exactly How did i manage this?😂
There's over 900 species of eucalyptus. Some like dry, some like wet, some like hot. Some like cold. Depends which one you get. If you like cold, get a snow gum, if you want wet, get a swamp gum (how big is your house), if you want hot and dry, get a mallee.
Tanner this is such a great video, could you do a video on how to salvage eucalyptus trees? would love any advice on how to give it some SOS love/support. I think mine went into a bit of shock after buying it from a shop, I left it outside in sun in summertime Tokyo and went away for about 5 days so its definitely been burned. I pruend off all the dead leaves/stems. I was wondering if I should cut it all the way down to when I can see 'life' in the stems ~ I'm a little scared it wont grow back if it has no leaves? Some bits are very dark and brittle though... any advice/help would be most appreciated!
Mine was experienced the same thing after I went for vacation for like 3 days. Got back and half of the leaves were brittle. I gave it a good bath and cut all the dead leaves/stems and be able to save it. Hope it works on your plant.
Hi, thanks for the video! I read that the eucalyptus has very sensitive roots and so I am scared to transplant it, as the last one I had died very quickly.. Should I leave it in the current plastic pot? Any tips?
I love eucalyptus but every time I buy after change season they go to die outdoor., now I decided indoor for this plants , I pray and cross my fingers for my plant to grow !.,
I live in the the UK North. Mine is less than a year old and it was thriving up until last week we had a lot of rain this week and I noticed the stem at the bottom is browning do I take the clippings and dry them out now in case it’s rotting?
I'm in zone 9. It's very hot here so my potted eucalyptus tree is covered to receive afternoon shade. I water it 3x a week because it's so hot here. Well draining soil. But the leaves and stems are turning brown as of it is dying. Help! What can I do to save it?
Ettienne Tatiana the tips turning brown just means that it might be under stress. I would need more information and photos to determine what might be wrong.
@@tannertheplanter4213 I appreciate you getting back to me. I just bought it so it may not like the transition as the nursery had it growing outside and now it's inside? if its this stressed now i can only imagine when i repot it ;( lol

Okay i know this is such a stupid question, but like i have no idea what bright light and moderate light is, like bright light is different for everyone? Can someone help me figure out if i can have this beautiful plant in my home?
@@tannertheplanter4213 thank you i did check out your tiktok and it was super informative! Sadly I don’t think I can have a eucalyptus :( do you know of any tall plants with silver-ish foliage that do well in light that isn’t the brightest but also isn’t super low either? Thanks in advance, love your channel 😊
Mine is starting to have a rusty moldy look on the leaves which started a few days ago after I repotted it into a larger pot. Have any idea what it might be? I used a hydrogen peroxide mix with water and sprayed the whole plant and soil once. Could this be mold?
i grow them from seed in August..but they just slow grower..just 2 inch tall with 4 set of leaves..some of the leaves got brown spot on them..any advice would be appreciate..thanks
I remember visiting a friend when I was little and her mom had baby blue in flower arrangements. I remember the smell and I want to buy some to make a wreath but idk if it drys and stops smelling? Or should I just buy a plant? I live in Houston. I hope I can find it here.
Hey! I’m growing silver dollar inside under a grow lamp. They’re 3.5 months old. I just transplanted to a 7.5 inch container with drainage holes. I used half potting soil half peat moss. I’ve been using a water soluble 1-1-1 fertilizer. Is there anything you would recommend that I change? they seem to be doing ok. A few of them have yellow tinge to the leaves and are slightly curving but for the most part they’re looking pretty green and healthy. I’m mainly worried about their watering schedule and the fertilizer I’m using. I just moved them out of some of those decomposable pots that I found dried out super quickly.. they were needing a little water nearly daily.. mostly I would use a spray bottle because I was nervous about them damping off. they’re now in plastic pots that will hopefully keep them a little more moist. any tips would be so greatly appreciated!!!
My house has very big windows everywhere. Do you recommend a south or north facing window? If south facing window is best, do you recommend the plant to be right in front of the window or can it be a little pushed back towards a wall? 🤣 hope I make sense 🤦🏽♀️
Christine C as close to the South window as possible without touching the glass. They live in full sun, naturally, so they can take as much light as we can give them indoors.
Haha this is a great comment. Of course they have the potential to take full sun- but these were grown in a greenhouse and would definitely burn in direct sun if they’re not properly acclimated to it.

I have an Eucalyptus gunnii 'Azura' in my garden in the middle of Germany since 6½ years. It grows very strong and fast. :-)
In the ground all year long?
Yes.

I purchased one today. and thank you for this video. I could really use your tips!
